I use Firefox to save and autofill passwords, which has worked perfect for years. It still works correctly on a Windows PC, but the problem is on my Huawei P30 pro phone. It used to work correctly but I tried using the phones password manager for both websites and Apps, as a safety back up. I got confused because I was getting 2 lots of suggested log ons. Therefore I switched off everything apart from Firefox. Save passwords and autofill are enabled and some websites load correctly. However some websites where the family have a variety of logons I get all the suggested logons. The list of all usernames and passwords appear but when I touch them they don't automatically fill in. If I go into the password manager on Firefox on my phone all the correct details are saved but they just don't transfer to the website. It is strange because some sites do take the password - I'm not sure but I think it's when there are a variety of possible Loggins. I tried clearing all cookies, and logged out of Firefox and back in but still have the issue. Firefox sync is still working OK.

How do I forward this question to Firefox themselves, rather than forum users?

Hi

Thank you for your question.

Do you have the user credentials saved in Firefox for Android?

In the Logins and Passwords option in the Firefox for Android Settings menu, do you have "Autofill in Firefox" selected?

Yes, everything in security/passwords is enabled and has been disabled then enabled again a few times. I have removed the app and download it again. I have also hard reset the phone and switched off/on Huawei password manager.

Firefox works fine on other devices. It all started when I enabled Huawei password manager to also save passwords. This got confusing with both apps suggesting passwords, so I switched off the Huawei one. I think there was some conflict with Huawei password manager, but I have tried every security setting and turned each thing off/on/off numerous times. Something within the P30 is preventing Firefox suggested logins from being filled in.

If I only have one possible log in, it is automatically filled in. However, if I have different family log in options, and so am offered all suggested logins - they don't fill when I select one. Some websites I haven't visited recently do let me select and fill in OK. I believe websites I visited while having Huawei password manager switched on, are the ones that now don't let Firefox fill in. The phone seems to block autofill to sites that it previously saved to it's own password manager. (but surely disabling the phones password manager should enable firefox to work properly again).

I have tried deleting a password from an affected site and then logging in. However it doesn't now give me the option to save the password again. If I manually add the password into firefox password manager it is saved and appears as a suggested login, but again when I select it, it doesn't fill in the field

Hi

Thank you for your patience while we have been looking into the password auto-fill issue in Firefox for Android. I have been advised by our developers that this issue is due to be fixed in Firefox for Android 117, which is due to be made available from the end of this month. Please look out for an update from the Google Play store.

Thank you.
