Why can't I HEAR the AUDIO in Youtube videos via HTML5 after upgrading to Firefox 48?

Was using Firefox 3X.X with libflashplayer.so in the correct place and YT vids worked vine. Vine and Vimeo and Soundcloud not so much, but YT was usable, as was Hearts of Space (hos.com), which uses flash.

Upgraded to Firefox-48.0.1-EME-Free and nothing in Firefox workswith audio. Sometimes, YT vids even come up saying that I have no capability to play videos at all. Most of the time, it plays with the HTML5 video player with no audio. I can do things like download to my local machine the Shoutcast Playlists from soma.fm's varous channels and then launch VLC on those local files and they play the stream just fine, but if I use Firefox to click on Listen Now on soma.fm, I get no audio.

Everything on my machine plays audio just fine, which tells me it's not a codec issue. It's just Firefox that's gone deaf-mute.

How do I convince Firefox that it has permission to do what every other piece of audio software on my machine can do and PLAY SOME FREAKIN' AUDIO?????

OS = Slackware 14.1

Advice to "Upgrade your OS" will be gratefully ignored. This is a browser issue, not an OS issue.
