Even when using other browsers, my computer is so messed up. Did every repair known to me, including but not limited to refreshing and resetting my system, wiping and reinstalling windows to factory settings. Nothing helps. What now? I am sending it to HP repair to have a new hard drive installed because of this problem. Does anyone have a suggestion? Maybe something I have not tried? Thanks.

Hi, sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one. Windows 8 has antivirus built-in already.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Note that not all removal programs will detect all malware, so you may need to run several or all of them.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us! Thank you.

Thank you scribe!! The first three links you provided would not download for various reasons. But the adware link did and seemed to solve my problem. You helped me when norton, microsoft, and HP remote access technicians either could not, or wanted a minimum of $60 dollars to help. Thank you!!!!
