How to alter level of e-mail detail saved in firefox history

My full gmail details (full names of each e-mail I read) is stored in my Firefox history but my friend's does not. His activity always just shows up as "gmail.com". Why the difference in saved info when using same computer, same browser? How can I change my settings to save less detail, and do I do that in firefox or gmail?
