I do NOT have the option of closing just one page - it ALWAYS closes 2 pages against my wishes.

Chosen solution

The X being on the Tab itself. You can also right-click on the Tab and select Close Tab. The Middle-click is where you click on the scroll wheel on the mouse.

"2 pages'"

Is that 2 tabs? Or 2 windows?

How are you closing the one 'page' you are trying to close?

Sorry - I hit the wrong button. No, my problems is NOT solved. I do NOT want to close 2 tabs at a time - Means I must sacrifice one of the tabs I still want to use. Just one at a time, please. Thanx

How do you close the page (tab)?

You can left-click the close X on an individual tab or middle-click the tab or use the Ctrl+W keyboard shortcut to close the current tab. If you click the close X on the title bar that is part of the minimize, maximize, and close button set then you close the current window with all the tabs.

If that doesn't work then check for possible issues.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

The attached screenshot shows where the tab close buttons are. If you have a LOT of tabs open on the bar, that button may only appear on the current tab.

Are you clicking on the X on Tile bar where the _ [] X is or are you closing a individual tab by middle-click or x on tab on the tab bar and the Window will close instead ?

The X on title bar closes that window.

Thanks James, but now I'm confused. I'm not too computer literate so I get confused easily. I don't understand what you meant by "middle click" or x on the tab bar. I don't see an x on the tab bar. Rich
