Every time I try to update Firefox Developer Edition it restarts and it keeps in the same version, I tried safe mode (even reinstalling, but the version keeps, weird, no?) Recently started showing this. (see image attached) I'm running OSX 10.10 (Yosemite) I only use Adblock Plus and the troubleshooting information should be attached. So... Should I try to run firefoxdeveloper.app as sudo? BTW1: I'm a developer so expect modifications in my system. BTW2: Is weird to ask this, cause, I'm a volunteer for mozilla support...

Chosen solution

There are four main development channels. Release, Beta, Aurora (aka Developer Edition) and Nightly.

Aurora and Nightly get checkins almost everyday and therefore gets updates each of those days. The version number when on channel stays the same with a2 on end for Aurora and a1 for Nightlyl. The Beta channel gets say six to twelve builds for a version.

There use to be a build date in useragent that would change to show date/time it was built but was stopped due to small potential privacy concerns.

You can use about:buildconfig (can be found in about:about list) in Location (address) bar and then the hg link to see what changes were made.

Thanks, but the thing is, every some hours I have the Firefox needs to update popup... And the permission error. I'm not updating to the aurora versions.

The Aurora being the Developer Edition builds you are Testing.

Is there a reason why you want to test the Developer Edition builds and not something more stable like Beta or Release?

Also the 40.0a2 is a old build as version 41.0a2 has been getting developed on the Aurora aka Developer Edition channel ever since June 29.

The version 40.0 is now on the Beta channel, currently at version 40.0b1 (first of the betas).
