Are you able to give some examples and further information.
What happens or does not happen, and do you get any error messages. You appear to be posting from a Windows computer.
Is the problem not being able to locate the download, or not being able to find a program in Windows that will open the file.
(Question originally in the Thunderbird Forum. I will change to Firefox Desktop )
j, I do use windows. I can open some downloads, only a few. Checked all info on Firefox and still can't open.
Hi again kfred,
I still need to know more so I can undestand better what you are trying to do.
Firefox is mainly used to browse the internet. It will open HTML web pages that you download, and some other files, typically things that could be part of a web page.
Many computer files that coud be downloaded have specific purposes and Firefox is not expected to use them.
Try opening the files with Windows, or searching for something that will open them.
- Try right-clicking the files, what options to open them do you get ?
- What sort of files are they ?
e.g. Video, audio, Firefox addons, Windows programs, documents. - Look at the full file name. They usually end with a dot and three or four lettters, sometimes hidden. Are you able to see that and say what it is ?
- Read this if you do not see the last part of the name windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/show-hide-file-name-extensions
