Ohter mails(my private mail, or my second wokr email) work with the Thundrbird still fine.

This morning, my wife's Thunderbird messages on version 102.11.2 were blank. They were IMAP messages on gmail, and a quick check showed the were not blank on the server. I tried deleting the entire gmail folder set from the IMAP mail directory, but that only made it worse. So I loaded my wife's profile from a backup. It solved the problem, but for how long? Another person with a similar issue previously noted that another symptom was a vast increase in storage requirements for the profile, and I saw that the profile was more than three times the size it used to be. There were a series of files named NSTMP in the gmail profile that aren't present on my profile. I deleted them from my wife's profile and recovered the storage, without changing the performance. I suspect the profile became corrupt and the corruption resulted in generation of multiple NSTMP files, and eventually started wiping out message content as well. Because I think the profile I restored was likely corrupt, I am guessing this problem will recur, unless someone can tell me how to fix it for good.

I'm running Windows 7 with all updates current as of the time MS stopped supporting it.

The entire INBOX disappeared. How can I get Thunderbird to show it again?

I have a Windows 10 PC. I just downloaded thousands of emails from my CenturyLink email server. The emails were apparently successfully downloaded, but I can't see any of them because the entire INBOX disappeared. When I open Thunderbird, all the other folders are there, but no INBOX.

How can I get the INBOX to show again?

Could this in any way be related to IMAP vs. POP. I used IMAP. I saw several people reporting problems with IMAP. Should I switch to POP?

I have five separate email accounts on xfinity: call them b, 3, 7, a, and p. All of them are set up in Thunderbird. Any attempt to send an email through Thunderbird on any of the accounts opens a window requesting the password for 7. The password for 7 is in Password Manager. If I copy and paste the password from the Password Manager or from KeyPassX I get the "Login to server smtp.comcast.net with username 7 failed" with an "Enter New Password" button in the pop-up. The password is correct and still current as verified by opening my xfinity account directly. This has been happening sporadically and randomly (correcting itself sporadically and randomly) for many months and for several updates. I have tried all the suggestions posted on this forum for other victims, but none of them have been successful for me.

David - Toad, I know you're sick of me, but I've no one else to ask. Need to get the missing mailboxes back into TBird. Will you please just tell me if I'm taking the right route, or if I'll screw it up more?

From USB drive F://Mail/Local (I see all the boxes there)

copy

To C://Users/Stacy/AppData/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profile/Default-Release/Mail/Local

and I will be able to see/use them in the right place in the program?

Thank you. Stacy

Many thanks for this old girl!!

Anyone else having same/similar problem? I found this post from several months back, which seems to be about same issue, but the thread was closed with no resolution.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hello,

I'm asking this on behalf of my mom, as she can't access her email. Her ability to receive emails suddenly stopped and she is unable to send them as well. After entering her primary password, a message pops up saying "Sending of password for user (her email address) did not succeed". After selecting "Okay," another pops up saying " Login to sever mail.indra.com with username (her email address) failed. I've attached screenshots of both messages.

I tried changing her password and changing her account name to match her email address, as per answers I read on here to similar issues. Neither one worked. Does anyone know how to fix this? She is now nearly a week behind on emails. Thank you!

I've used Mozilla Thunderbird almost since its inception. The current version is 102.11.0 (32 bit), running on my PC, Windows 10 Pro, version 10.0.19045.

I have two e-mail accounts that I use, from the same server/provider. One account I've been using for about 20 years and the second account is more recent. The older account is used almost exclusively, and the newer account is used much less. On the older account I annually archive the inbox messages to folders by year, to keep the inbox fairly clean. Most recently my inbox contained messages from 2022 and 2023 to date.

I've experienced an annoying problem on the older account for the past several months. Each message that comes in arrives in duplicate, requiring me to go through the messages daily and delete every other one. I noticed that there were a very few senders whose messages did not come in duplicate, for some reason. I updated to the present version about 10 days ago, hoping it would solve the problem but it did not.

Then, about a week ago I could not open the inbox. The message said to wait while Thunderbird processes the inbox and when it finished the inbox was empty except for a few random messages from years ago.

I also have not been receiving any new messages in that time. I do receive the e-mails on my iPhone and my laptop with no problem, and I do not experience the problem with my newer e-mail account. Can anyone help me get my inbox back and start receiving e-mails properly again? Help, please!

What does repair folder actually do?

A search online gets answers like 'it rebuilds the index', but that's not very explanatory. Does it recreate the index by looking at the folder contents or by going back to the server and downloading emails again?

After a couple of odd things happening (emails appearing in the web version of Gmail, but not in my Thunderbird Inbox), I decided to repair my Inbox. It's an IMAP account with Gmail, and has got over 700 messages in it (yes I know, time for a clear out...).

Thunderbird went slow for quite a long time (like half an hour at least), and messages kept flashing up in the status bar at the bottom saying stuff like "Downloading message 237 of 700". When clicking on messages with large attachments, while the repair was apparently still underway, the messages took some time to load, though they seem to be about normal now.

Was it really downloading emails? I ask, because I have some archive folders MUCH bigger than the Inbox, and would like to know what to expect if I have to repair other folders.

For info: Thunderbird 91.11.0 (64-bit) running under Linux Mint 19.1

Good day, Thunderbird is set as default email client But when I click some email link in web browser, hoping Thunderbird shall start new mail with this address - Thunderbird starts and shows me pop-up window offering to create new account. I already have few accounts so I close this pop-up window and then I have email compose window left - on:y, email address gets never inserted into "To" field. So I have to copy/paste it, every time. So weird. How to make TB work, normally - new email window with email address inserted, on link click??

I have a Mac Mini and MBP both running Thunderbird for several years. Starting recently, presumably after a Mozilla auto update, whenever I check my email on the MBP, I typically delete a few emails, but then later when I check my email on my Mac Mini the deleted emails are back in my inbox.

Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

Asked earlier this question and never received a reply (other than a "yeah seems to be a problem"--which was of no value and could be construed as "snarky").

Upgraded to Windows 11 and now I can't get T-Bird to open links to web pages from within the message.

I have to do a right-click copy and paste of the link url into a browser to open it.

I worked through the tshoot help articles and I'm back to the "Message Support" option.

I just updated to 102.11.1 and the problem persists. Issue also occurs with Chrome stand and incognito in addition to FF (113.0.2) standard and Private windows.

Since I updated to Thunderbird 102.11.0 (64-bit) on Ubuntu 20.04, I have this persistent problem that single clicks in the list of messages are often, but not always, treated as if they were double clicks, opening the messages in a separate tab. This makes it very hard to use Thunderbird as the focus is constantly changing from the list of messages to another unwanted tab. I have also started seeing this problem in Zotero, which uses the same underlying interface as Thunderbird, so I believe it is a general problem impacting all applications that use that (XUL?) interface. This is not a mouse problem as I have seen this on two different computers using two different mice, one of which is connected to the computer via a cable. I also have not noticed this problem in any of the other applications I use, so it is limited to Mozilla apps (but I have not seen this in Firefox for whatever reason - I believe firefox no longer uses XUL, right?).

Thanks, David
