From the article "Microsoft OAuth Authentication and Thunderbird in 2024" there is a screenshot showing a OAuth2 option for the SMTP server setting with STARTTLS connection security. It does not appear for me. There are only the five options, as shown in the screenshot. How do enable the option to be available in the drop-down list or set it?

The available options are:

No Authentication Normal Password Encrypted Password Kerberos / GSSAPI NTLM

I am on Thunderbird version 115.12.1 (64-bit), Windows 11, version 23H2, build 22631.3737

firstly, i'd like to say this isn't really about settings, well it sort of is, it's about layouts, but there's no heading for that. sorry!

i've just gone from version 102 to version 128. for my use of Thunderbird, nothing much seems to have changed, except some things are now harder. (such is progress!) i would like to see the columns in message lists as proper columns, with headers you can click on. so only one line per message, as it used to be, would suit me just fine. that way i can compare things in the list, which i would say is really important. you can change the sort, and easily see how it effects things.

does anyone know if is there any way to achieve this? i can't see anything in Settings or View. thanks so much.

Every few months, my message sorting will switch to threaded mode. It did it again within the last couple of days.

I thought maybe it reverts to defaults whenever an update comes through, but update history shows my last update was Sept. 12 (exactly a month ago), and I used T-Bird yesterday, and messages were not threaded then.

I'm thinking that if I change the defaults to "unthreaded", this would stop happening, but I'm curious if it's common for it to randomly switch to the default irrespective of updates.

Would the computer rebooting (whether manually or automatically for, say, Windows updates) cause it to revert to defaults - is that what's going on?

I currently use Thunderbird 128.3.1esr (32-bit). I monitor 5 different gmail based accounts from it. The primary issue is that I have removed one account from the "settings : Account Actions " dropdown several times and every time I reboot my windows box the old account returns. A lesser issue but still a distractor is that my Message View Layout returns to the default on the same regular reboot. How can I permanently delete the account??? and if it's a twofer, have my message view choice remain?? Thanks. Bob.

Hello When I open many of my emails, it shows nothing in the 'From' or 'Subject' and rather than having a message in the body, it says:

_com.samsung.android.email_5468463121860--

It is always the same no matter which email I open.

Yet when I open the same email using a path through my website host rather than Thunderbird, I get the message that is in the body instead!

I have attached 3 screenshots. The first shows the email I wish to open The second shows what the email looks like in Thunderbird, when open. The third shows the same email when opened through my website host email program.

How can I fix Thunderbird so it works properly again? Blessings, Roslyn

I get a message like this every time I start Thunderbird. The topic came up last year but the conclusion was along the lines of "...this problem will be fixed in version 128" but it was never clear whether or not the User followed Mozilla's support replies or what they had to do to clear the email message from Thunderbird. .....Well I'm running version 128.1.1esr and the problem still exists.

My questions:

1. What is Thunderbird trying to do? Compact individual email files? Compae from ct the whole Thunderbird Profiles folder?

2. Is the problem the size of the Profiles folder or the overall size of the hard drive the Profiles folder resides on? What is the Hard/solidstate drive is the maximum?

3. Is the problem related to the amount of Free Space left on the Hard/solidstate drive or is the issue the number of individual files?

4. Is the issue related to the number of Thunderbird files and/or folders OR is it related to the total number of files and/or folders on the hard drive?

5. Is there a limit to the number of sub-folder levels that Thunderbird can navigate?

Thank you.

Hello,

I want to configure my E-mail default reply signature to use English only. But I haven't found any options for it. Many sample only told me config it in "Account Settings" -> "Composition & Addressing" but there's no options to configure the content.

Specifically, I want to achieve when I reply an E-mail, the reply signature "On Fri, 2024... xxx@xxx.com wrote" always in English, even if I'm using zh-CN version Thunderbird.

Thank you.

Hi, I would like to know how to remove the sender's email address from the "from"/"correspondents" field. So i.e. instead of "GOG.COM <newsletters@something.com>" I want to see just "GOG.COM" like it was in the previous version (this appeared today after auto-updating to Thunderbird nebula or whatever it's called now).

This change make it much less readable and cluttered and I really, really don't like it.

How did my profile get updated to a newer version and since I just updated my TB to the latest version, why isn't it working now?? I tried to go back to the version from last week and it still doesn't work, but it also doesn't work with the newest version. I really need my profile to work and I'm really upset about this. We just signed up for a Microsoft email account this weekend. Preferring to use TB, everything seemed ok as I was able to receive emails just fine, but upon trying to send emails, I continue to receive an error message saying "Login to server smtp.office365.com with username tom@callablefirst.com failed".

I have gone through many different troubleshooting techniques I read about in the community and here is a checklist of things tried:

1. Checked that IMAP is toggled on in 365 admin 2. Checked that TB is accepting cookies and no exceptions are listed 3. Tried changing SMTP server to recommended instructions from Microsoft and verified all settings are OAuth2 4. Enabled 2F Authentication 5. Used config. edit to clear out all existing OAuth2.scope files

I have downloaded a different email client- eM client and everything works fine sending emails from that end so I am convinced this has nothing to do with my password being entered incorrectly, but some unknown conflict that isn't getting resolved between TB and the 365 account. I prefer using TB but am getting to the point where this is taking a lot of time away from other business activities that need to get done.

I have my marketing guy trying to remotely help figure things out, too, but he is at a loss as well.

Let me know if you have any ideas, thanks, much!
