Dear Support,

After setting up a new laptop, I have tried to use Thunderbird to download the entire contents of my GMail inbox. When I'm logged into GMail via my Firefox browser, I can see 62,635 messages dating all the way back to July 2008. I installed Thunderbird and created a profile to access my GMail inbox via POP3. Then I set Thunderbird to download new messages. After a few hours, Thunderbird has downloaded 23,485 messages dating back to December 23, 2022. How do I get Thunderbird to retrieve the remaining roughly 40,000 messages all the way back to the first message from August 15, 2008? Can Thunderbird also retrieve messages from GMails Spam folder and drafts folder?

smtp failure

Just recently, I'm having trouble sending emails through Thunderbird. Receiving is fine. I have not made any changes to settings but I get smtp error when trying to send. I have 3 accounts and my gmail one works but not the other 2. The only difference I can see is the 2 that aren't working are POP3 whereas the gmail one is IMAP but surely that only affects receiving, not sending? Very occasionally an unsent email has miraculously been sent but mostly I get the smtp error. I checked with my ISP and they found not errors and suggested online webmail. Messages send fine through there but I'd rather use Thunderbird. Any suggestions please?

I have 10 email accounts in my Thunderbird 115.12.2 (64-bit) and I am using Microsoft Windows 10 Pro and all my sent, draft, archives and templates are going into a different folder. I want them to go into the folder from which the email was sent but they are all going into the email tinakeeling@att.net.

I have changed it to reflect the correct folder but then a few days later and every time I restart Thunderbird the program changes the folders back to tinakeeling@att.net

I have even unchecked the box "place a copy in" and when Thunderbird is restarted it reverts back.

What can I do to fix this issue?

I have TB 115.13.0 (32bit) In the past when I start TB, junk mail has always showed up as TB loaded new messages (with the red flame) and then were sent to the Junk Folder. Now they just stay in the Inbox with the red flame beside them and I have to manually send them to Junk Folder. What's wrong?

Im trying to put my email (prkirby@sky.com) on to thunderbird (version 115.12.1 64Bit) running on a windows 11 computer I have 2 other emails which run perfectly All my settings are correct, pop 3 incoming pop.tools.sky.com port 995 outgoing smpt.tools.sky.com port 465 both my username and password are correct, all these settings work when using outlook 2013 pro plus on a computer running windows 7 username and password also work when signing in to emails on different computers When I create the account the message I get is password/usename incorrect Any help will be gratefully received Phil

Hi,

I installed thunderbird in a new computer via flatpak. The computer is running PopOS 22.04 and the current Thunderbird version is 128.0esr.

I don't know if this happened after the last update from 127 to 128 or was like this before, but on the compose window all the menus and buttons on the top row are completeley invisible, white on white (if I hover over them, then they are slightly visible). See the first 2 images.

The main window is OK and everything is readable (see 3rd image).

I don't know how to change these colors.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi, since yesterday I get the following error message when trying to send e-mails:

Unable to authenticate to Outgoing server (SMTP) mail.btinternet.com. Please check the password and verify the 'Authentication method' in 'Account Settings | Outgoing server (SMTP)'.

I tried other options in account settings, I kicked the email out and added it again, restarted thunderbird and my computer.

I also checked the settings of my provider (Strato) and everything is correct and worked for years prior to yesterday.

Is there any solution to this yet?

See our help article - Modern Authentication Methods now needed to continue syncing Outlook Email in non-Microsoft email apps. However, you may need to contact the creators of those applications to provide you with instructions. In many cases, simply removing and re-adding your account with the latest version of that application will configure it to use modern authentication methods.

Will Thunderbird continue to link me to Outlook? If so, how?

Please can you assist me. I have just started using Thunderbird for my new business email address, in order to access my emails. I notice that the inbox will empty itself after I have read the emails/close the application. I've looked in all the other folders, archived etc, toggled the read/unread options etc but no luck.

I came to Thunderbird because I have been using an email server - btinternet - for many years and it has become clogged with a backlog of emails many of which were not opened and remain so. I would like to retain my email address, John.romm@btinternet.com, it is a vitally important one for my work. But I would ike to use and manage it Thunderbird which is already working well for me. However, it is important to do both of two things. First, I need to bulk delete all unopened emails - some 160,000 of them. And second, I would like to construct filters to keep a wide range of incoming emails out of my inbox. Please help!
