until recently to select multiple messages on the message list pane, I held the CTRL depressed and clicked on the messages I wanted to select. Then could do an operation e.g. DELETE or MOVE on all the selected messages at once. That doesn't work anymore. Only one message can be selected at a time, and gets deselected when another message is selected. The CTRL key has no effect.

Hello. Thuderbird has been acting strangely for a few days, lots of Not Responding messages and then it sorts itself out. But now, when I open an ordinary e-mail, it opens up in a Send window! With the message which you will find in the attached Image. My version = 128.1.1 esr (64 bit) Lenovo Laptop Windows 10 Grateful for any help folks.

This is essentially the same problem as https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1430726 . I am running 128.1.0esr, and the problem surfaced recently. I installed 128.0.1esr (replacing 115.13.0) on July 31. and the problem might have been re-introduced there. I have not researched the version numbers, so I do not know why I went from 115.13.0 to 118.0.1esr.

Here is the problem. I want to see all of the mails with a certain string in the sender field. After I have typed the first character in the filter field, Thunderbird goes into a "Not Responding" state, and I see a spinning blue circle. After I have entered the entire string, it takes a while before TB becomes responsive. When TB becomes responsive, I can delete all of the selected messages (in less than a second). But when I then remove or change the string, TB takes a lot of time before becoming responsive again. Wayne Mery posted at the end of that other archived thread "115.9.0 has a patch related to quick filters which may help." Has that patch somehow been regressed? Thanks.

Since yesterday I am unable to receive mail. When I send a test email the message below comes up. Your message was sent but a copy was not placed in your sent folder (Sent) due to network or file access errors. You can retry or save the message locally to Local Folders/Sent...

I have searched, read and tried all fixes on this topic already provided but nothing has worked.

I composed an outgoing email message that I wanted to keep for future use, and saved it as a Template. That not only saved it under the unified Templates heading, but created a second appearance of my main email account with its own Templates subfolder. At that point I decided I really didn't want to keep it after all, so I deleted the message, but the second Templates folder didn't disappear; its still on the tree list as an empty folder. Right-clicking that folder doesn't have a Delete function, but it does present a Repair option, but running that doesn't help. How do I get rid of that unneeded individual email account listing and the empty Templates folder?

From the article "Microsoft OAuth Authentication and Thunderbird in 2024" there is a screenshot showing a OAuth2 option for the SMTP server setting with STARTTLS connection security. It does not appear for me. There are only the five options, as shown in the screenshot. How do enable the option to be available in the drop-down list or set it?

The available options are:

No Authentication Normal Password Encrypted Password Kerberos / GSSAPI NTLM

I am on Thunderbird version 115.12.1 (64-bit), Windows 11, version 23H2, build 22631.3737

I am searching for a solution for my problem and maybe this is a possible new feature that would help many users. When I open my thunderbird, all attachements open in a new tab, easy and very usefull because of the invoices i need to pay are always open, and when paid i save+ close them. But then i have to send the invoice attachement to my accountant. So i have to go to the original mail AGAIN forward this mail to the accountant etc.....It would be easy if there was a little button in the open attachement tab that directly opens a new sendmail tab with the open attachement already included in the concept.....Maybe i didn't searched very well....BTW I love thunderbird and install it @ all my customers sites instead of MSOutlook, plugins are fine an email reading is once set up correctly the most easy to read interface. the attachement tab is displaying an url like : imap://my%40mail%2Ecom@imap.mailserver.com:993/fetch%3EUID%3E.INBOX.xxxx%3E128?part=1.2&filename=20210446.pdf&type=application/pdf. I can not even get that by a right click+ sent to email to work.....Yup I'm Belgium and dutch......so i hope i made my idea clear by not using the translate apps and just my brain......:)

meaning while in Thunderbird nothing is copied/cut.

Hi,i updated to the latest patch 128.0.1esr (64-bit) and found a logo on the main incoming page saying No Message Found.Any way i can remove that message.

Norton 360 updated last night and now Thunderbird isn't working.

I tried logging in to Thunderbird but it kept saying my certificate was wrong and refusing to check my emails. I tried to click "add exception" but it didn't help.

It also kept saying its own homepage was a security risk and blocking it.

I figured it was Nortons new update, but have no idea how to fix it. I turned off Nortons Email Protection, which didn't help. So I uninstalled Thunderbird and reinstalled it.

But now its saying it cannot login to the outlook server when I try to add an email account. I know the information is correct, all I can guess is that Norton is blocking it somehow?

Any idea on how I can fix this?

I have 15 email accounts linked to Thunderbird mail and use up to 5 of them daily. Sometimes 'instant' communications on one or more of my accounts can be important.

Will Thunderbird mail still function in the same way from 16th September?

I apologise if this question has been answered somewhere else. I searched but could not find it.

To help keep your account secure, Microsoft will no longer support the use of third-party email and calendar apps which ask you to sign in with only your Microsoft Account username and password. To keep you safe you will need to use a mail or calendar app which supports Microsoft’s modern authentication methods. I have 4 accounts with different names but all with the same domain name (name1@samedomain.com, name2@samedomain.com ...). The first one set up perfectly and works. The 2nd and the 3rd can't retrieve mail from the server (didn't try the 4th yet). The SSL ports are the same for all. The passwords happen to be the same for all. (I haven't tried changing the 2nd and 3rd passwords as that seems unlikely to be the problem.) When initially setting up the 2nd or the 3rd I get a "Sending of password for user name2@samedomain.com did not succeed. Mail server pop.yyy.zzz responded: [AUTH Authentification failed." I've checked the passwords on both the client and the server ends multiple times and they are the same. Then, of course, periodically I get a pop-up with "Login to server pop.xxx.yyy with username name2@samedomain.com failed. When I go to the Account Settings screen with the 3 accounts and click on each Server Settings one after another, the only thing that changes is the User Name, yet the first account receives mail and the other 2 don't so everything is correctly set up. As an aside, I CAN SEND emails from the 2nd and 3rd accounts but can only RECEIVE and SEND from the 1st. Any help appreciated.

As of December 1st 2023, one of my gmail accounts in thunderbird stopped working. Every time I check messages, I get the Oauth prompts to allow thunderbird access to the gmail account, I click through without error messages, and I can see the rights were granted to Thunderbird in my account, but Thunderbird is unable to connect. If I check saved passwords, I see it has not saved an OAuth password.

Things I have done: (1) Verified everything in this article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/automatic-conversion-google-mail-accounts-oauth20 (2) Verified that IMAP was enabled on the gmail account (3) Checked the settings against my other gmail accounts which are all working, I don't see any difference. (And this account was working up until December 1st, along with all my other ones which are still working)

Anyone have any ideas what might be causing this?

Version 115.8.1 (64) I block messages by domain (domain.com), rather than whole addresses, because spammers are constantly changing their whole address (nutjob@domain.com). The filters don't always catch them when they arrive, and then they sit in the folder, indefinitely. The "Manually Run" and "Periodically, every 10 minutes" options are both selected. The "Periodically..." option does not appear to be working (as I expect it to), so I eventually will go and hit the "Run Now" button to get rid of unwanted mail. I can also quickly delete them using the "Run Filters On Folder" option in the "Tools" menu. It would be great if the filtering worked automatically. Thanks
