Basics = Iphone 11, Current ios and fresh version of Firefox, as of 1/2 hour ago. Today is Feb 26, 2026. For the past 2 weeks, my Firefox search engine has been hijacked by a Google search engine. I can tell bc of the tiny round icon that is displayed at beginning of line where I enter my internet query. I just now downloaded a new version of FF, restarted my iphone11, and am still having the Google emblem showing at the beginning of search entry line. I do not want to use Google for anything, if possible. BTW, all of my internet access is via my FF app on my homepage. Are my searches still “safe” bc I am first accessing FF icon on my home page then secondly accessing Google to do my searches? Thanks so much. 🌷

I’m hoping to find out if there is any setting or option in the Firefox for iOS app that would toggle permanent display of the current website URL instead the address bar.

Noticed while doing a google search: after searching, the address bar truncates the displayed URL to just “google.com,” which is very useless in itself - tapping the address bar, however, fills it with the terms of my search. There is no way to view the full URL from here; you have to long press the address bar, after which you need to tap “Copy URL,” then paste it somewhere else, like a Notes app, to view the actual URL that was copied.

Am I missing anything, or is that the current most efficient way? If it is, why? It seems counterintuitive to obfuscate URLs like this.

I will clarify that so far I’ve only seen this while searching with Google. On other sites, the URL is still shortened severely to show just the domain (still a very inconvenient design choice that cannot be disabled, though), but at least there IS one being displayed at all.

Has this issue been brought up before? It seems like a relatively new change, and one that hasn’t benefited users, so I’m curious if there is some kind of workaround I couldn’t find.

Previously, on Firefox iOS, I would tap on the URL bar, type a search query, hit enter, and I would immediately navigate to the Google search page.

Now, in-between hitting enter and navigating to the Google search page, there is a multi second delay.

Tried to check all possible settings, but cannot see any place I can turn this on. I see that if I use google.com for new tabs I can use the google page voice search icon. Want this as an icon directly in the url text field

I am confused because I downloaded Firefox and I thought that was going to be my new browser replacing Safari and then I downloaded the DuckDuckGo thinking that was going to be the search engine that replaces Google now it looks as though their arrivals and then I don't understand how they both work and I'm very confused can you please help explain what each of them are and what their uses are and if I should have both of them are only one. Hi I cannot find any way to scan an URL QR code directly from Firefox. I expected that a QR code icon would appear when i tap the address bar, but I can't find such icon...

Of course, I checked the settings: camera is enabled in Firefox settings and QR code scanning is enabled in system settings.

Is there any way to scan QR codes directly from Firefox settings?

I use the latest version of both Firefox (146.1 (65627)) and iOS (iOS 26.3 (23D5089e)) iOS is a beta version... Could this be the reason why...

iPad iOS 26 Firefox Focus (FFF) and Magic Keyboard (MK) — Cannot use search field after upgrading to iOS 26 — need to disconnect iPad from MK, then use on-screen keyboard, then reconnect MK and then can type with MK — that is more likely an iOS 26 bug, but it is effecting both FFF and regular iPad Firefox.

I've reinstalled and updated Firefox on my iPhone 15, but still there's a Google logo in the search box, not Firefox logo. I hate Google and don't want it in my searches.

Why is it there and how can I get rid of it?

With a browser tab open to any website, I’m no longer able to use a saved shortcut upon tapping into the web address bar.

Tapping the address bar brings up the keyboard and screen as normal, except with a faded background. As soon as you try selecting a saved item it sends you back to the existing open web page.

I have added Startpage as another search engine and I can set it as the default engine allowing me to search with Startpage from the URL field. However, when I close firefox and start it again it's back to Google? Firefox 144.3 (63239)

When I search on Firefox on my iPhone 14, the search results are in a tiny font. This just started happening this summer. Everything, all the search results are tiny. So, I no longer use Firefox. How can I change it back to the way it used to be?

Default search is reset to Google every time I close and reopen Firefox. How do I make Firefox remember my choices? I am setting Brave to be the default search.

Hi - I have added Kagi as a search engine and set it to be the default. This works as expected, until at some point, hours later, for reasons I don’t understand, it switches itself back to DuckDuckGo. Kagi remains available as a choice, and I can re-reset it back to default. I’m not sure if this is a bug, or a misconfiguration on my part. Thanks.
