I have been noticing a number of processes started by firefox regardless of the pages I browse to, even if I am connected to the Internet, which has made wonder of my firefox installation/settings has adquire a mind of its own:

Hello everyone,

I'm really hoping to achieve a streamlined interface in Firefox without the clutter of two separate bars.

Here’s what I’m looking for: I want the tab bar and toolbar combined into a single bar, similar to Safari on Mac. Specifically:

   The forward and backward arrows should be positioned to the left of the tabs.
   The search bar should be smaller and also located to the left of the tabs.
   The application menu button and extensions button should be moved to the top right corner (on the same bar as the tabs).
   I want to completely remove the separate toolbar, as it takes up unnecessary space.

I'm currently using Firefox 132 64-bit on an Intel Mac running macOS Catalina.

I’ve already tried the Neptune theme from this link: Neptune Firefox. The creator is amazing, and the theme is exactly what I need to keep me using Firefox exclusively. However, despite following the instructions carefully, I still only see the layout shown in my attached image. I can't seem to get everything into one bar.

I don’t have experience with coding CSS, and I currently lack the time to learn it. I’m unsure if the Neptune theme should be selectable in the themes menu, but it doesn’t appear there. However, I know this design is possible. I’ve searched various forums and read many threads, but none have provided a solution to my problem.

I would greatly appreciate any assistance in achieving the design shown in the attached image. Whether it’s through a theme, custom CSS code, a plugin, or any other method, I’m open to suggestions as long as it works. Thank you!

I recently updated my MacBook Pro to the latest MacOS (Sequoia). Though I didn't notice it immediately, today when I opened Firefox, all text is displayed in a foreign character set. It is pervasive - I've tried to use several tutorials to reset the language and all settings to default, but so far nothing has worked. I've uninstalled Firefox using AppCleaner (which gets any leftover files in OS folders, as well as the app itself), but a clean install results in the same issue. I've disabled all add-ons and reset all settings to default as near as I can tell. The only time the browser displays properly is when it's in Safe Mode. I'm not sure if this is related to the OS update, but I can't seem to identify any other recent change that could have the potential to cause this problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to download videos from the LoC. These are free and open access, with a little download button on the video page. When I click to download, the video opens in a new screen, but never downloads to my computer. Same thing with internet archive; click on the correct file format in the download section and the window refreshes to play and doesn't download. I changed my settings to always ask what to do with downloads, to send files to my download folder and tried to select the actions for each kind of file format. Still having the same issue.

All of a sudden, my extensions icons, site icons and some images in every page are very very dark or pitch black. I haven't change anything in themes other than changing the theme of the browser after installing it.

In the attached images, you can see how the Mozilla site icon is rendered by Firefox Stable, Firefox Nightly in Recovery Mode without my account being signed in and Google Chrome. The other screenshot is the extension toolbar with extension icons being rendered all black instead of their true color.

I publish two mediawiki sites. http://wikidelphia.org and http://othernetworks.org

Both show up just fine for other people and for me when I access them with other browsers.

My problem occurs when I use Firefox to work on OtherNetworks. I'm going to try attaching screen shots of the Main Page. The first is from a normal view of my main page taken with another browser. In this shot the graphic is on the right

The second one is the same page taken with Firefox as the browser. I can't even figure out how to describe what is wrong with that second display.

I'm wishing for someone to figure out what is going on here and tell me how to restore FireFox so I can use it to work on my website. Is there some setting in Firefox or in the OtherNetworks site that is causing the awkward layout when using Firefox. I'm rather dependent on the bookmarks in Firefox.

Firefox 132.0.1 (64-bit); Fedora-40; Gnome. I just added the "authenticator" extension (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/auth-helper/?utm_source=addons.mozilla.org&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=search). I would like its icon to appear in the toolbar, along with those for NoScript, Simple Translate, and others. I tried following the instructions on this page: "https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/extensions-button". But clicking the "gear" icon in the toolbar brings up a list of all installed extensions, and there is no "gear" icon next to any of them.

How do I add the "authenticator" extension's icon to my toolbar where the other extension icons are?

Rather than have dedicated computers for Work and Personal use I have dedicated accounts on multiple computers. Up until now I have been using Chrome for Work and Safari for Personal. I have been having more and more issues with Chrome, so I am moving my Work configuration to Firefox. Unfortunately, I have found a MAJOR difference in behavior. In Chrome I have 9 tabs setup to open when I start Chrome (my Home Page), these are the tools I use in my job; Jira, M365, Zabbix, GitLab, Digital Ocean, and a bunch of in-house tools. I set these up in Firefox, so far, so good. Unfortunately when I open a New Window, as I often do when working a specific problem, I get all of my Home tabs and I need to go through and close them all.

So my question is WHY there is not a setting to enable Home Page separate from New Window? I did find this https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1281079 but it does not really answer the question as to why we cannot have the same behavior as Chrome. I understand that the current design just calls the same New Window code whether it is the first Window or the 100th Window, but setting a flag in memory once the first Window has been opened and checking that flag to determine if the New Window needs to open all the Tabs should not be that large a code change. Note I said a flag in memory and not on disk, as that would be a performance hit.

My second question is whether the powers that control Firefox would be open to such a code change if submitted? I understand how Open Source works and features that the volunteers working on code want to see are the ones that get developed.

I have to manually change the layout.css.devPixelsPerPx setting evertime I switch from my laptop to an external monitor. What can I do to avoid this every single time?

We want to use Firefox on a locked down system. Using the -kiosk command line argument gets us most of the way there. But they still have access to the devtools when they hit F12. It appears there are ways to disable devtools after the browser has been started. How can we disable the devtools before the browser is opened and without registry changes?

When I play games like classic.minecraft.net or krunker.io, the pointer speed is very slow. So I would like to know if there is a way to change the pointer speed of firefox.

My mic will not connect to anything with firefox. when on the individual web pages it says mic is allowed but the websites won't detect any microphone. i've tested this with discord and a handful of voice/pitch training websites, the results are always the same. it says the mic is allowed but the website won't pick it up

i've tried clearing my cache and the other recommendations i could find online like allowing autoplay, it still isn't working. i am on a mac using an external microphone and i've already made sure firefox has all mic permissions and that the mic works by testing it in the apple mic test thing as well as with other applications. this problem only comes up with firefox. i also disabled any privacy/security addons (i have ghostery, privacy badger and ublock origin, all currently disabled)

this is very frustrating and i truely don't know what to do about it, any advice would be greatly appricated

Have a service ticket website we use (EasyVista) that should be form populating previous entries however this is not happening in FireFox. Doing this on Chrome works properly. I've included screenshots showing both.

It nags me, that I ain't asked if I want the AI function, you just force it over me without giving me any choice, if I want it..

SO, how to COMPLETELY remove the AI function in Firefox and Linux Ubuntu..

AI scare me and I definitely don't want ANY of it!!!

After accidentally closing firefox I could not restore my last session after going to. history because the restotre tab was not there. Only recently closed tabs and recently closed windows and search history was there. I also had the box sent in setting to restore last session but it did not do that either. Am I missing something. Sorting through all the history would take quite a bit of time. I am on a macbook with sequoia ios.

There is no way I can make my FF into a default browser and showing some old exe files from old FF's leaves me with no comprehension to do anything. I follow the three steps properly ending with the FF icon in the browser box. That does nothing - unless I need to acknowledge its done, but where do I do that?
