Is there a way to permanently disable checking for updates? I don't want to update (and I don't care what people think about that), but every 5 minutes an update notification pops up that needs to be closed, and it is getting really annoying. Again i don't want to update and there is no option to disable checking for updates, only to automatically update whenever firefox wants to ruin my day or to bother me until I allow them to ruin it.

I am a user of the http://loza.nazwa.pl/zakonacporady/forum/ forum, based on the my little forum (https://mylittleforum.net/) script.

In the last days, after one of the most recent Firefox updates, the forum users observed a strange page refresh behaviour: when a user posts a new message, posts a change to a message or resets the unread messages by using a button on the webpage - she/he gets the outdated view of the forum. Without her/his changes.

She/he must explicitely reload the forum page (Ctrl+R) to get the new content.

Is this a result of some newly introduced pageloading optimisations? If so, is it possible to switch the optimisations off by a Firefox settings (globally or just for the webpage)?

Best regards, D. Wroblewski

Using FF 80 on Linux I'm getting increasing difficulty with processing pages. At first I assumed senility-onset (user not browser) but recently got feedback from a bank help desk that 'unable to process page at this time' was a browser message, not a site message and he advised using Chrome. Hah! Anyway I tried Chromium and it worked perfectly. Often a similar problem with payPal (not always). What's going on?

In the 'olden days' when Firefox was a new kid on the block there used to be a facility to report web sites that would not work with Firefox. Is it time to resurrect this? Is web design now being taken over by Google rather than (in the 'olden days') Microsoft?

Firefox 80.0.1 64-bit; Windows 10 Pro

When Enhanced Tracking is Strict some websites lose functionality.

The only options seem to be.

Disable Enhanced Tracking for that site

or Set Enhanced Tracking to Standard or Custom for all sites

So far, the frequented websites all seem to work with Strict except one and, for it, I would like to have it set to Standard rather than none.

If I am correct, let me know. if wrong, either direct me to instructions or just tell me. Yes, I have looked.

Thanks!

PS. My current option, for that one website, is to run Firefox in a separate Sandbox and set all websites to Standard.

Recent versions of Firefox have started crashing more and more often for me. As of version 80.0, it happens around 1–2 times a day on average, usually when the session has been running for a while. In the middle of work, Firefox window(s) will just disappear and the process is no longer running. This will happen both on my Windows 10 and my Windows 7 system.

I recently realised that I hadn't been seeing the Mozilla Crash Reporter window in a long time, on either system. I just assumed my crash reports were being sent in order to help fix these bugs, but today I decided to check, and saw that crash reports are not even generated anymore. When I oben about:crashes, I see that the last crash report is from May. I'm sure I've had Firefox crash many dozens of times since then, but the crash reporting facility seems to no longer work.

I tried running Firefox in Safe Mode as well. The result is the same: it will crash usually after a few hours of work, without any error, no crash reporter window, and no crash report showing up in about:crashes afterwards.

What could have broken my Crash Reporter functionality (and on both of my systems, too)? And how can I get it back to generating and submitting these reports?

Starting recently (maybe a few weeks ago) none of my add-ons work reliably. They all break in their own special way but considering they all broke at the same time and are all fixable in the same way I assume that the issue is with Firefox rather than the add-ons themselves.

Bitwarden doesn't work in private windows normally. A screenshot of what this looks like is attached. Currently this message is sometimes displayed when I am using a normal (not private) browsing window. This can be fixed by disabling and reenabling the add-on.

uBlock Origin sometimes stops blocking ads. This can be fixed by disabling and reenabling the add-on.

Facebook containers no longer automatically detects Facebook owned domains such as facebook.com and messenger.com so when I visit one of these sites I am not in the Facebook container and so I am not logged in. I am able to manually enter the Facebook container by right clicking on the new tab button and selecting Facebook. Then the container works and I am logged in. This can be fixed by disabling and reenabling the add-on but this deletes any custom containers that I have created so isn't even a great workaround.

As well as being able to fix these issues by disabling and reenabling the add-ons individually, I can fix the issue by restarting Firefox.

The issue always seems to occur if Firefox is open long enough but I'm not sure what triggers it.

I have other add-ons, such as Tridactyl, that don't seem to be affected. Perhaps because they don't rely on what ever it is that is causing this issue.

It may be after a recent update, but Firefox no longer displays eBay pages correctly. The site appears as raw text, quite unformatted, with no images, and is useless for navigation or use. in fact, it looks very similar to the very old-styles "text only" displays that used to be alomst standard last century.

I have already deleted cookies and history.

I have little time to spend dealing with Firefox problems, and so have reluctantly stopped using it. I am now using a competitor's browser. However, if anyone has a quick simple solution I will take it. But Firefox's configurations menus are uselessly designed and one must scan the entire menu system quite often to find (and fail to find) whet one needs, so please (try to) make it quick & simple.

In hope, and possible thanks.

Yahoo intruded and functions as default search, even though Google has been and is still designated as default in the settings. I removed Yahoo from the list of 1-click browsers, but that didn't affect its unwanted function as default search. This began out of the blue several days ago, and I have no idea how. I dislike Yahoo in general and have not been on that site. I'm getting really frustrated!

This is a little hard to describe, but pressing sideways on the wheel on my thinkpad mouse changes what is displayed on the screen. It appears to go back and forth through the history list, depending on whether the wheel is pushed to the right or left. Not talking about rolling / scrolling with the wheel, but pushing sideways on it.

How can I stop this?

mousewheel.default.action is currently = 1 mousewheel.with_shift.action = 4

Not sure what these settings do, but somebody suggested them.

Thanks

Aside from the general usability issues caused by nags screens and constant prompts in software, for various specific reasons I need to disable the update nags that appear every day in Firefox.

This used to be possible with a simple reminders setting in Firefox, which the developers now appear to have removed.

How can this be done now?

Thanks.
