Can anyone actually answer this? Somebody has provided me with 2 links that tell me nothing. When I login into Hotmail, I get a message asking me to Download latest Firefox or use Mobile experience. When I dowloaded the latest Firefox, I got a red circle over the top of the Firefox sign telling me I can't use that and need an earlier version.

Jscher and Cor-el tried to help me a few years back w/o success. Trying again to upgrade from 3.6 (XP) to 27 (Win7). Exported from 3.6 as HTML file (also have json), and imported into 27. Last time, I never 'found' most of my bookmarks in FF 27. Especially not the folders. This time, I tried Library View and it appears everything is there, folders, subs, in sequence etc. BUT ... unlike in 3.6.28, I can still only see the contents of one folder in the right pane at a time.

     I can't work like that.

SO ... maybe, I can access ALL my bookmarks some other way (not via Library)? Via a toolbar perhaps? But for some reason, the collection in the toolbar doesn't remotely resemble the organized collection I see in the Library. Virtually no folders, and in chaotic order. Many missing it appears. If the contents from the Library were mirrored in the Toolbar (using AIOS), I'd be good to go. Is this what I should expect? What more can I try? Thanks!!!

Why does FF call out to the IP address 72.21.91.19? I found that the IP is part of Edgecast and seemed to be possibly related to FF live bookmarks and/or the latest headline live book mark.

But FF is still trying to go to that IP even after the live bookmark was removed. It tries to do this every 15 minutes and sometimes more often.

Currently I am blocking that IP with my firewall. This seems to be a privacy & security problem. But I have not found a way to completely block live bookmarks. This ONLY happens if FF is open and happens regardless of what site the browser is or has been visiting.

This is an older system and FF ver 3.6.28 ( it's a good old stable W2k OS system). FF is using NoScript, Ghostery, & ADP. The system passes all virus checks, including Malware Bytes and Super AntiSpyware.

When I try to remove a single bookmark: I click on the blue star, the box comes down with " Delete/remove this bookmark, I click on that, but nothing happens. So I tried following the directions for removing several bookmarks, but did not see the "show all bookmarks" option. I am using a Mac OS X 10.4.11, could the problem be that my operating system is too old? If so, can anyone suggest other methods I can try? Thank you!

I run XP SP2 and will not be loading XP SP3. I run Firefox 3.6.22 because Roboform suckered me with a lie. When I purchased Roboform, I was "guaranteed all updates AND UPGRADES for LIFE," but when Firefox changed from 3.6, there was an apparent collusion with Roboform so that the new versions of Roboform were blocked from working on Firefox after 3.6 (at the same time, of course, Firefox removed Firefox's password management from the browser), and the customers that Roboform had guaranteed "upgrades for life" were NOT grandfathered in to prevent breaking Roboform's promise/guarantee to them.

I will be switching to Linux, but I will be using LastPass (instead of Roboform) until then. I will never pay Roboform another penny, and I always post my experience with their dishonesty whenever the forum is conducive.

I can switch browsers, but I had just as soon stay with Firefox if you can tell me what version of Firefox will run CORRECTLY with XP SP2 (and be maintained properly)? A link to it would be helpful.

Thank you, Grace Birdsong

The plug-in list below is partially, but not altogether, correct. I use Microsoft Office, and don't use most of the plug-ins listed.

I've been searching all evening and trying various options, but don't think I have this figured out, and wonder if anyone could help. I have an AM appt. to bring my computer in for an upgrade and would like to have my bookmarks archived first. (Mac OS10.4 / Firefox 3.6.25)

I found this info in another thread, and was able to follow it almost all the way through, save for the last part:

"Start at the USERS FOLDER (the one with your name on it) then LIBRARY then APPLICATION SUPPORT then FIREFOX then PROFILES then the folder .DEFAULT you should see files labelled BOOKMARKS and a folder labelled BOOKMARKBACKUPS you will see .html and .json files within this. Select an .html file and an appropriate date, open it in Firefox to check. Now go back to Firefox and click through bookmarks-organise bookmarks-restore-choose file and search for and select the file you just found."

When I click on the BOOKMARKBACKUPS folder, there are only .json files inside - no html. There was one bookmark.html file on the same level as the BOOKMARKBACKUPS folder, and when I opened it, it looked like an info page.

I did highlight, in turn, each of the .json files and under FILE, chose ARCHIVE and moved them to my external harddrive, but I'm not sure if I truly backed up the bookmarks. Appreciate any help.

Cheers, Debra

I have an iBook G4. After downloading the new version of Firefox it will not run so I have to continue with the older version. I continuously get messages telling me my version is out of date which is getting annoying. Apple want me to buy a new computer at about £1000 which I can't afford.even if I could, the old programmes won't run on new processors so I would the have to buy them all again. not a good AD for apple? Greed rears it's ugly head!!!.

Thanks in anticipation. Regards Geoff Downend.

I avoided upgrading as long as possibly in anticipation of problems, but I use you tube and it's threatening me now. Sure enough your upgrade was so bad it almost disabled my entire computer. Slowed to 'glacier' pace in speed and was impossible to use my Word office program, even with Firefox closed, and after restarts. I had to go back 24 hours and reset so I could continue my work. I'm using Windows 7. I liked Firefox just the way it was. This is as bad as the new health care law... no options but to upgrade, lose out and suffer. I guess I will have to give your program up.

Welcome to the Firefox Support Forums -- we're excited that you're interested in helping out other Firefox users here. It's really easy to get started! There are just a few things we'd like you to do when you post here:

  • Register as a contributor: Registering and posting as a contributor marks your posts in ~~#008000:bold green font~~ and they stand out for users. It also lets you post in the Contributors forum where you can discuss common issues with other contributors. If you're already registered but not as a contributor, you can change that on the My Account page.
  • Be polite and avoid jargon: It's understandable that some users will be upset, angry or even abusive. However, you should always remain calm and avoid being defensive in your replies. It keeps the forums a friendly and welcoming place. The same applies with use of technical jargon -- it can be frustrating for users so it's best avoided.
  • Label your posts with the correct purpose: When you post in the forums, there's a dropdown to select the purpose of your post. If your post addresses the user's question and provides steps that may help, use "Proposed solution to problem". Use "requesting more information" when the original post simply doesn't have enough details even begin troubleshooting. These statuses are important because we are rolling out features that allow users to search threads where there are proposed solutions so they can try to help themselves as well as tracking how we as a support community are doing in answering support requests.
  • Use our resources: A lot of care has been put into making the knowledge base simple and easy to use so one of the fastest ways to help someone is just to link to the appropriate article or article section and a quick sentence explaining why those steps are a good place to start. Reading other forum threads is also a good way to learn Firefox tips and tricks that you can use to help other users.
  • Most importantly: Have fun! We're a casual and global community so take the time to meet the other contributors, read our blog, follow our Twitter feed and enjoy your stay!

I have an Intel-based Mac Mini that really works well despite it's antiquity, but I obviously need to upgrade the OS. I'd greatly appreciate it if anyone could tell me whether Firefox will be dropping support for Mac 10.6 soon? I'll spend the $25 for the Snow Leopard install disk, but if it's soon to be unsupported, I guess I'd better save the dough and put the money toward a "newer" used Mac. Hate being cheap, but finances are tight. MANY thanks for any help you might offer!

My computer is the last of the iMacs with a PowerPC processor.
