There is a long line of displays at the bottom of the Firefox screen, all starting with "div#" or "iframe.rr" or "html" or "body" --- at the far right is a rectangular box with the word "Style" and an "x" right beside it. The x will not close this bar even though it says "close inspector."

On the far left of the bothersome string is a gear/sprocket icon that is for "inspector options" which, when clicked, offers "dim the node" or "show node info." I don't want a "node" or even know what it is. I would just like this display bar along the bottom of the Firefox page to be gone.

I have tried all options under tools options advanced update and NONE of them disable automatic updates. Whichever one is selected, at some point Firefox will upgrade without getting user approval, which is complete and utter crap.

I have to maintain an application which must run on Firefox version 3.6, cannot be ported to any later version, and is only used to access the control application.

I'm sick and tired of having to uninstall and reinstall Firefox every time it goes in direct violation of my settings and updates itself automatically. Why even have a setting for this if hte setting is completely ineffectual?

I've been having terrible trouble with an unwanted service called search conduit which has wormed its way into my firefox. First it changed my homepage, which I reverted. Then whenever I searched something in the address bar, instead of google, search conduit would handle it instead. I read some other questions on here, and found out how to stop this by changing the browser search value in about:config.

However, one problem remains. Every time I open a new tab, instead of being a blank tab like it used to, search conduit's page loads instead. So I went to about:config and changed browser.newtab.url to about:blank, which is what other answers that I read suggested. Problem solved, or so I thought. But nothing has changed; when I open a new tab it's not blank - it's still search conduit.

This is beyond a joke. It's actually disobeying orders. It's "overruling" me! I was going to uninstall firefox and download it again, but that's too much hassle what with bookmarks and the like.

How do I purge the devious search conduit once and for all? I've looked in add-ons and plugins but I can't find it. I'm at my wits end.

When I transfer over my favorites from Internet Explorer, not all of the favorites transfer over. Is there a limit on the number that can be moved over to Firefox? I see all my favorites in the My Favorites file, and on favorites when I open IE, but only half of them transfer over. Is there a cause for this? It is the same on both my machines using Vista and 7. Firefox just updated itself to version 16.0.1. Now, when attempting to close multiple tabs, I get the "Confirm close" warning even though the "Warn me when closing multiple tabs" option is unchecked. I tried checking that option, confirming the change, then unchecking that option again & confirming the 2nd change, too. This has made no difference. Firefox is not obeying the option setting.

The problem didn't occur before the update to 16.0.1 but did occur in the first session afterwards & has persisted since.
