FIREFOX 75 UPDATE: How to change internet address bar dropdown to display most visited sites?

How to change the browser.urlbar.maxRichResults in about:config to display more recently viewed websites in the drop-down list in the address bar after Firefox 75 update?… (read more)

How to change the browser.urlbar.maxRichResults in about:config to display more recently viewed websites in the drop-down list in the address bar after Firefox 75 update? I only see 6 results when I had it set to about 20 before.

I have gone to browser.urlbar.openViewOnFocus and changed that setting to False thinking that would help but all that has done is eliminated the entire drop-down list altogether when the address bar is clicked.

I checked my browsing privacy options in the settings menu within Firefox and it appears everything remains exactly as before, prior to update. Maybe there is some special combo of settings and about:config options that can bring the drop-down menu back that I enjoyed so much prior to update version 75.

Any recommendations?

This started only recently (a few days). I keep Firefox up to date. Recently though every time I click on a text box or a drop-down or a button I get these light blue highlighting boxes that are driving me crazy:

https://user-media-prod-cdn.itsre-sumo.mozilla.net/uploads/images/2020-07-07-18-18-58-976ccc.png

I've been on a search for results and used three or four different css additions that don't work (focus and outline derivatives).

There is nothing in accessibility settings (Mac 10.11.6) on my computer.

How to view HTML emails in Outlook 2016 in Firefox

Good day,

I use Outlook 2016 installed on my Windows 10 desktop to manage my email accounts. As the default security settings of Outlook software prevents a number of scripts from running, it is common to be unable to view an HTML email as the sender intended, even if one “downloads pictures”, and so Outlook displays an advisory on these emails; “If there are problems with how this message is displayed, click here to view it in a web browser”. If I click on this, the email will open in Internet Explorer (IE) and I will be able to view the email as intended.

I want to open these emails automatically in Firefox (FF) but, despite searching the web for a solution, I cannot see how to do this. My default web browser is set as FF and everything web related other than Outlook emails successfully opens in FF. I see that the Outlook emails are saved thus: C:\Users\MyUserName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\Content.Outlook\UniqueID\email.mht. I have searched how to open mht files in FF and have accordingly downloaded the Web Archives Extension. Unfortunately, even with Web Archives installed, when I try to open the cached mht file in FF, the file will not open. I also tried to change the default application by file type of .mht and .mhtml files from IE to FF but Windows will not offer FF as an alternative program for these files types.

Please could someone advise what I should do so that if I need to view an email in Outlook in a browser, the email will open, and successfully render, in FF?

Thank you.

Love me FF, thanks for such a great browser.

As the Subject describes, I just wanna move or remove the Forward/Back/Refresh/Bookmark controls either down or off the contextual menu. I am constantly right-clicking for dev purposes and it automatically clicks the back button almost every time and thus goes back to the previous page. THIS IS A HEADACHE AND A TIME SUCK.

I find myself facing a real dillema, I prefer to use Firefox for most things however, due to the fact that Firefox does not support H.265 and has instead opted to only support AVI video I cannot use it to manage the massive fleet of Security Cameras I manage. I am stuck using IE or Edge both of which are garbage. Along with that Chrome also has decided to only support AVI so that is worthless as well. In our modern era of technology I find it morally repugnant that a company like Firefox would turn their back on their loyal users. Could someone please explain to why Firefox cannot even implement an add-on that would allow use of the built in hardware decoder if supported on your computer like IE/Edge are capable of doing? I just don't understand why Firefox insists on copying Chrome rather than being their own independent company, especially when Chrome has worked their way into almost a monopoly status, and even if Chrome is not a monopoly every other browser now seems to just be a spin off of Chrome. I would imagine that Firefox would want to support as much as possible and not dictate to the world like Google has decided to do. Really starting to lose faith in Firefox's ability to be their own company.

This issue is common to all browsers, but with how customizable Firefox is, I'm hoping it might help me circumvent the issue somehow.

My screen resolution is 1920 x 1080, but I use Windows settings to scale elements to 125% because my eyes are bad and I want to see the Windows and other software's interfaces better. As a result, the inside of Firefox, websites themselves, are also scaled. My resolution is reported as 1536 x 864 pixels. In most scenarios, this isn't really a problem, since in theory zooming out to 80% restores a website's appearance to normal.

But while developing, it can be weird. For instance, when using mobile simulation mode. And the reflex of pressing Ctrl+0 to restore default appearance is deeply ingraned. Also when someone tells me there's a problem with the website at X zoom, I have to calculate what that zoom level is equal to for me.

So I'm wondering if there's something I can do, other than fiddle with zoom all the time, to see what my website actually looks like while keeping my interface enlarged.

Until recently, when I clicked on a pdf link, Firefox would load the PDF file as a preview, treating it (on the user end) much like any other webpage but with a download button available. If I then clicked on the download button, it would be saved in my downloads folder, and clicking the saved file in Firefox's download links would open it in my default PDF viewer (ie Acrobat). This allowed me to easily look at PDF files without cluttering up Firefox's downloads list, as well as quickly open a downloaded PDF in Acrobat.

Following a recent update to Firefox, these options seem to have been changed and I can't find a way to revert to the previous behaviour. It seems to be treating the in-browser function as a full PDF viewer, rather than a preview. I can set Firefox to open PDFs in Acrobat, but then it downloads every link I click on which happens to be a PDF and opens them all in Acrobat. Or I can tell it to open them in the browser, but then if I want to open a PDF in Acrobat I have to download it, then hunt for it in my downloads folder and open it there rather than directly in Firefox. It also clutters up my downloads list, making it harder to find slightly older downloads without going through file explorer.

Alternatively, I can tell Firefox to ask me what to do every time. This is a bit better (a new option "open with firefox" has been added), but still involves making a couple of extra clicks each time I open a PDF - and it still insists on downloading every PDF based link I click.

What makes this particularly strange is that the in-browser PDF viewer still has a "download" button, which has the traditional two "open with___"/"save file" options, even though as far as I can tell it will only display stuff it's already downloaded.

Is it possible to return to Firefox's previous behaviour, or is it gone for good?

When searching for a word on an already loaded page I use find (cntrl f). The word if found is highlighted in a different color. In the default case its a light green. Can I change the color to red bold or at the least the background color in the highlighted word to black or red. Anything that has a much higher contrast. There doesn't seem to be a config option to do this but it may not be under the "findbar" family.

A while ago firefox started to take over as the program for mailto:. I even tried to stop it by changing firefox mailto to use outlook. Didn't help. I don't often use mailto, but I noticed it when I started outlook it said it wasn't the default program for everything and asked if I wanted to set it. Kept happening. Eventually I looked into default options for outlook and found mailto was set to firefox.

THEN I opened a downloaded PDF from a different browser and it opened it in firefox. I have Nuance PDF. And yes, now often when I start that it tells me that it's not the default.

And yes, I have or set the program for PDFs in FF to be Nuance PDF.

Outside of stopping using firefox, how do I get it to stop inserting itself as the default program? YES, at times I set FF to the default browser; did some recent upgrade make it mean to also set it to the default for all programs, and how can I set it to the default browser (which I do for some things I want to run at times), without stealing all the progam defaults?

Hi everyone!

I have have a problem when typing e-mails in an hotmail.com-account. Almost every second word is underlined with a red wavy line. It marks spelling mistakes and makes suggestions for a different spelling. I do not need spell check and even do not want it. It's very annoying.

I use Windows 7.

I have deactivated spell check in both Firefox and Outlook already and also have restarted Firefox after several changes. But the red lines are still there.

Does anyone have any idea what else I could try?

THANKS A LOT for any tips and advice in advance.

I'm not going to get into the complete and utter disaster that 78 is. I'll keep my grief and anguish to myself. The fact that I have to click spacebar to get to the old (vastly superior) dropdown list makes me irate. (This is the first time I've explored other programs outside of firefox in over 15 years.) So, I've done this, I've clicked spacebar on the address bar, I can now see my old list of recent or popular, or whatever sites that I frequent the most. But now there's this completely worthless "Search with..." at the top. I've deleted all but one of these search options from the "One-Click Search" in options, but it won't let me delete the last one. I don't need another place to search or something else that I quite frankly don't need in my way. At the top of the search page under options there's this neat little feature called "Search Bar" It's insanely brilliant, I use it all the time. sits right next to the address bar, simple, easy, functional. When I click on the address bar itself, It's all ready for me to search, again, brilliant. Why do I need a 3rd option to get to the same thing?

How do I remove the one-click search from appearing in the address bar dropdown?
