For about 2 weeks now, the audio volume on youtube videos fluctuates up and down. The volume starts off low when a person starts to talk. For example, when the person in the video starts to talk, their voice volume is very low then within a second or two, the volume rises to normal as they talk. When they finish a sentence and start a new one (when there is a short pause in the audio) their voice is again at a very low volume, rising to normal in a second or two. This repeats as they speak throughout the entire video. This is not specific to any youtube video or youtube channel, it happens on all youtube videos. I have tried updating all audio drivers in Windows 11 - no improvement. I have tried rebooting the computer - no improvement Firefox is up to date, version 133.0 I have tried watching the same videos using Chrome and I do not have this problem.

So I'm having a small issue with the volume slider on youtube. The gray bar that indicates volume is about 1% of the size it should be (Please see attached image). It functions fine but bothers me enough that I've contacted support. I've opened it in safe/troubleshooting mode and the issue persists, and there in no issue on chrome. Any help would be appreciated, thanks ^_^.

I recently updated my browser, and I've noticed that while listening to music on YouTube, for some reason, the volume slider within the player also controls the stream volume within KDE Plasma's volume mixer, making for a much more frustrating experience. Now the volume resets to what was set on YOUTUBE rather than sticking to what was set in the VOLUME MIXER every time a new video plays or any time the page refreshes. This means that the volume gets reset every. single. time. The issue with this is not only that YouTube's volume slider isn't as accurate as KDE Plasma's, but also that a media player in a browser shouldn't be controlling its own system volume within the mixer because it causes issues and frustrations like these.

How do I separate player and stream volume?

Hi, when I launch a custom video player on a certain site and go into full screen mode, and then want to exit it through ESC, I can’t do it and the picture freezes. I went to the browser console, and it gave me this error: Uncaught (in promise) TypeError: Not in fullscreen mode

The technical support of that site told me to write to the browser support, I understood the problem is not on their side. Now I did my own trouble shooting, games have sounds, my music player (winamp) has sound, I downloaded chrome and I oped volume mixer and played a video in that, there was sound.

I do the same thing in firefox and there is no sound, and in volume mixer where the lines go up showing the volume as it plays, it did it for chrome but not Firefox.

So there is no issue with my head set, my computer or my sound, it is firefox alone.

Recently i switched from distro specific package managers to flatpak as my application provider. The firefox flatpak won't play most embedded Video/Media on applications like in-browser fediverse clients, forums, blogs or wikis. Youtube works without any issues, Twitch is fine until there is an adbreak. Then it sometimes stops with the supported format/mime error (screenshot appended), only recoverable by cache-dismissive reload.

Chromium Flatpak has no such issues. So i copy the video url and play it with chromium. You can see: dire times.

Maybe after update, or i dont know why, but now. when youtube (or any other videoplayer) in fullscreen - taskbar menu is visible (Is on topscreen). In google chrome problem is not repeats. Yesterday I updated Firefox to version 115.22.0esr this morning when it was released. Have never had any problems viewing video on Netflix but now I am getting Netflix error message F7702-1003. Yesterday I asked "what can I do? I've rebooted computer as Netflix says and it didn't help."

Today, to see if the issue was a bug with version 115.22.0 esr I logged onto both Peacock and Hoopla to try to stream video. On both sites the same thing happened that happened on Netflix. I log into the site, select a video, and when I try to play it I get a message that "widevineCdm plugin has crashed" and video won't play.

Since this problem just appeared after I updated to version 115.22.0 esr it seems likely that there is a bug in this version which is crashing the plugin and preventing streaming video. I note that I can stream some video having checked both YouTube and an online television station.

Initially connects video playing to Headphones via Bluetooth then audio stops. Reloading doesn't help. But the same works perfectly on other browsers. Problem is with Firefox audio setting. The problem started only a week ago for firefox

My issue is that when watching F1 from the following site: https://f1tv.formula1.com/, after some time (it differs in how long it takes to manifest), the stream starts to stutter. Note, it is NOT buffering, it is like the stream gets "stuck" or freezes for an instant then continues. The "freeze" then becomes more frequent and sometimes even lasts for about 2 seconds before resuming. The most important fact about all this is that this does NOT happen when using Google Chrome, hence my suspicion that it is somehow related to Firefox specifically. Does anyone have any idea what is causing this and/or how to fix it, please?

Yesterday my audio on Firefox worked, today it doesn't. I tried all the regular trouble shooting solutions. - My system volume is not 0 - My tabs aren't muted - My headphones are turned on and working fine (audio works everywhere but Firefox) - I uninstalled and reinstalled my Firefox - I uninstalled and reinstalled my headphone audio drivers - Audio also does not work in a private browser, so I know the issue it's related to extensions, cookies, etc. - I had Windows 11 do a quick diagnostic, so the issue isn't Windows 11 related

Usually when this issue occurs, it's as simple as switching from "default" to a specific speaker in volume mixer, but Firefox is not appearing in volume mixer like it did in the past, as shown in the screenshot below.

I don't know what else to do at this point. In previous documentation here, the solution for some people was to wait and it eventually fixed itself, but I'd rather not have audio for weeks to months on end, so has anyone found another solution by chance?

Each time a video call comes in, the message on messenger, says Video calling is not supported on this browser. I've gone to the browser settings and cannot find anything that would change this. Help.

I've been searching for an answer to this for weeks to no avail. It concerns YouTube videos "autoplay"ing on YouTube. Many have asked this question and most responses state to shut off Autoplay. These are two separate issues. AotuPlay means the next video on YouTube will advnace automatically requiring no user input. If Autoplay is off, streaming stops at the end of the video. The issue I am having is when I open a YouTube video to a new tab (but do not switch to that tab), the video WILL start playing as soon as that tab is in focus. This never used to happen and indeed, on two other computers with the settings and extensions all sync'ed, this doesn't happen, except for on this one computer. Today I found someone that posted the exact same problem 5 years ago and didn't get an answer. He seems to describe it well:

This setting describes the issue kind of. If you have this set to false, the moment you send a link to a new tab, YouTube starts playing in the background. Setting it to false keeps the video paused until that tab is in focus. That is how mine has always been set. What I am looking for is a setting that would say something like: "block autoplay until play is pressed"

Now it was fine for a while, but now it's so bad that I'm having trouble watching YT videos properly. Reason: Browser open, logged in to YT. I click on a video to play - video opens, plays maybe 10 to 20 seconds, then playback stops spinning top, I also found out during the last glitch after update that if I switch the resolution briefly, higher or lower doesn't matter - important is to leave the current resolution and switch to another one. And oh wonder - immediately, instantly with the change, the video starts playing. If I wait for this - without doing anything myself, it sometimes takes 30 - 40 seconds for the video to start ... sometimes it just "hangs" ... This is extremely annoying - if it doesn't work, I have to switch browsers... I was able to stream news from CTV news site but for some unknown reason I cannot stream it like I used too I cannot figure out why! Something must be wrong with my setup. Please help me fix my problem.
