im trying to understand why the holy heck firefox supposedly removed the ability to press backspace to go back on a webpage. Im googling info and i guess you press now alt and left arrow. Jesus christ, why remove a single press button for a simple function to TWO!!!! buttons?!?!? I loved the backspace feature and its been SUPER frustrating this year and i finally decided to ask about it or ask how to fix this. I want my dang backspace button back. I dont understand the reason to remove either. Now it just does NOTHING.Instead of being useful** God firefox stop pissin me off. Also i shouldnt have to accept everything to install any extra extensions. I find it odd they give a warning but to get extension you have to give it access to everything half the time. Theres absolutely ZERO reason for this. Using firefox for almost a decade because Explorer and edge were slow and dumb to me eventually, and i switched to firefox, now im reconsidering switching again after a decade.

Good day,

I am so upset and frustrated after losing all of my bookmarks from my favorite browser that have decided to ask this question here which I'd normally not do and am hoping someone could clarify and guide through restoring it all.

I rebooted my PC last night and upon reboot completion my firefox was updated on its own to v89 or something, the latest as of today's date and so i spent a day not liking the most important thing that I enjoyed on the previous version, which was the ability to reload the open tab by mouse right clicking on it and selecting "Reload tab" (which was the FIRST option at the top of the menu), but for some weird reason the latest update has "New tab" as the first option to select from and no longer "Reload tab" (which is now the 2nd option), which drove me crazy as every time I went to reload my multiple open pages by mouse right clicking them and clicking on the first option at the top of the menu (which used to be reload tab), it was opening 6-7 new tabs instead as the first option at the top now is "new tab", which drove me nuts. This could be a really minor thing for some, but its not for others, its fine that its there, but there should've at least been an option to re-arrange the right click menu and either hide "new tab" as Im not even sure why that was implemented as you can simply close on the "+" signg at the end of your tab to launch a new tab if you need it, from being the first on the list or something along those lines, but I wanted my "Reload tab" be the first option on the list when I mouse right click on any page to perform action with it and thus I decided to revert to prev version Firefox Setup 88.0.1 on my Win 10 pc.

The problem I faced was when I started installing that older version I got this pop up (see attached image)

Without any serious thought I clicked on create new profile as it wouldn't let me install the older version otherwise, it either had an exit or create new option and once I created new profile it all looked brand new as if i've never owed a firefox before and I've used it for ages, my fav browser. Everything is just gone, addons, extension, everything I had organized.

I tried restoring previous profile via about:support, I see 3 on there with the latest 2 seeming to be the latest once and there was one that I think was my old one, but when I clicked on "Launch profile in bew browser" to see if thats the one I had with all my stuff, it kept giving me the same error that you see on the screenshot, so no matter what I did it just wouldnt let me launch my old one.

I searched here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recover-lost-or-missing-bookmarks#w_determine-if-firefox-has-created-a-new-profile tried a few things to follow, recovering bookmarks did not seem to work, I just see bookmarks from June 23rd which I didnt have any anyway, so it better not override anything I had before, and now im just so discouraged and not sure how to restore everything the way I had that deciding to post for help here.

I would appreciate if someone could clarify this instead of just posting links with tons of info to follow, I can find those links myself, some of them I followed, if someone who knows exactly what happenned and could say whether or not this is still recovarable with clear steps on what to do that would be much appreciated.

I also wonder if I was to restore my windows to previous restore point, would it restore my browser to how it was or it wouldnt?

Please assist, thank you!

Since today, whenever I want to open an https site in Firefox, it fails with PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR, even for the mozilla support files, so I am writing this on Chromium. I am having this problem on two Debian laptops with FF 78.11.0esr. I followed the advice given in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1317824#question-reply, but I do not understand why I have to set security.tls.version.max to 3 instead of the default 4. Why is the default 4 in the first place, what does it mean and what are the consequences of changing it to 3? Doesn't the need for such a hack suggest that there is a problem somewhere else?

I saved an image (JPEG) appearing in a Firefox browser tab onto my Mac. Maybe I clicked something because the saved list of files on the left side of my Finder window briefly highlighted, but the only thing to "undo" was renaming the file, something I'd intentionally done.

When I went back to the first tab in Firefox which originally displayed the item I'd saved (also open in a second tab), the tab displayed the contents of what was stored in a file on my Mac. The address reads "file:///Users/. . ." It also shows that the last modified file is the ".ds_store" file at around the same time this happened. The folder from my local drive which appeared in the browser tab was not even the folder with which I'd been working.

What occurred? Why and how are my local files being displayed in a Firefox tab, and has anything been altered or gone missing on my local drive? Thank you for any help!

Hello, The accordion element we use in application has aria-label and aria-expanded set as per spec but during voice over in Mac Firefox does not say "Expanded" or "Collapsed". It works as expected in Chrome and Safari.

Please see the screen shots. Chrome and Firefox on the same Google site - https://workspace.google.com/marketplace?pann=ogb.

Chrome identifies the Expanded and Collapsed state but Firefox does not and no event changes are captured on click.

This question was asked a while ago: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1267945 asking what the "(raced)" values were inside the Transferred column of the Network tab in the Developer Tools.

In short, it sounds like when the browser detects a slow pull of a value from the local cache, it "races" the cache by actually making the network request to see which comes back first to provide the fastest loading possible for the end user.

While conceptually I totally get this, as a Web Developer I'm now curious if this particular network request identifies itself in some way via HTTP Header values?

We actively seek out customers of our web applications to see which ones have "bad" cache settings (no cache, too small a cache, or flushed constantly) to reach out to them to resolve this (and/or find out the reason why they were disabling their cache). TL;DR - I think these RCWN requests may give us a false positive when trying to detect users with bad cache settings... so I'd like to be able to "ignore" these RCWN requests in our analysis (I don't want to block or otherwise interfere with these requests).

On a secondary note, is there any info for the end user on why a given resource was raced? It appears that all of the "(raced)" resources I'm seeing on my frequently visited sites are less than 2.5KB (often under 1 KB) - just wondering if the algorithm to detect "slow" resources is properly scaled for small resources.

I'm running Windows 10 and have experienced multiple, repeated stopcode violations resulting in the blue screen and reboot (or sometimes requiring hard shutdown and reboot). I've kept close records of programs and peripherals, and the only constant I can find is Firefox. Typically I see it with I'm exploring something in Firefox (ironically it just occurred while typing this). I've taken the computer to the shop a couple of times, and they've stressed it over multiple days and can't duplicate it. I wonder about the interaction of internet fluctuations and Firefox. I'm wondering if my motherboard is failing, though it's fairly new. Any help I can get on this would be very welcome! Thank you!

Hello everyone,

I have been having an annoying problem in Fireforx (v.89.0) running on Fedora 33. In the past when I clicked in the address bar and typed in words to search for Firefox used Google and returned with search results. Now, when I try to do the same the search does not do anything, it just stays on the same page. This is in spite that the search setting is being set: "Use the address bar for search and navigation" and the default search engine is set to: "Google"

Any help with how can I get back the correct behaviour would be appreciated.

Thank you, Lel

Hi all,

Little issue with Firefox that isn't a glitch, but it's something that annoys me and I am curious if I can fix it!

I have two monitors....a 22" monitor and a 7" mini-monitor. The large monitor is my main for everything and I use the little one for chat windows and watching Youtube as I work, etc.

I usually have a chat window from a certain website open on my mini monitor and all my other tabs open on my main monitor in Firefox, but I've noticed that if I click a link in Discord, or in an email in Thunderbird, etc, the link opens in the window on my second mini monitor and I then have to move it to my main monitor....is there any way to make a open window the 'default' window in Firefox so that clicking a link would open that link in a tab on my main monitor instead...?

Thanks!

I'm using Ubuntu 21.04, with Firefox Version 89.0.1

I like my window control buttons to the left, and I prefer them on the top bar. In Version 89.0.1, I'm now stuck with two sets of window control buttons.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/906698

So that was asked 9 years ago, and I tried adding those lines to my userChrome.css in the chrome folder of my profile directory. Sadly, that solution no longer works in Version 89.

See the attached image for my userChrome.css file, and how ridiculous it looks with two sets of window controls.

Please help me remove the minimize, maximize and close buttons when I maximize my firefox window.
