I pressed the backup button to backup my firefox stuff before switching to linux, and now that im on linux the file i was given a docx file, is completely unusable to restore anything, meaning that about a dozen of my accounts are completely lost, I did not do anything to the "backup" file besides put it into my google drive.

For some reason, firefox keeps asking me to backup my info to "get ready for windows 11" [see attached image]. I have back ups disabled, I don't want to have firefox back up my information.

I click the [x] and it just comes back with every new tab.

Stop. [Expletive]. Harassing. Me.

I love my current Firefox settings, bookmarks, folders and color, background image, dark mode. All I want to do is to create a Firefox browser backup file. I don't want to restore or sync anything. I just want a backup file in case of computer failure to restore to my next computer if ever necessary. I'm using Windows 10. I think they used to be "json" files? The only "Backup" link in the menu only addresses Restoring from a file. I just want to create a backup file for this current browser just the way it is. Is there a simple solution? Hi, I recently had a situation where I closed my browser, and when I opened it back up all my tabs and entire session was gone. There was no option to restore via any of the common or traditional ways. This was honestly traumatizing because I've put so much work into the setup of my tabs/folders, etc., for work purposes. SO MUCH TO LOSE. I ended up finding a partial restore deep in the files on my computer, but it missed the past 6 weeks, which I could never recover.

I'm sure I'm not alone - I've seen many, many posts and people talking about this. I think it's extremely important for Mozilla to ensure that the option of restoring browser sessions remains a reliable one, as many people have important work info, etc.

MY QUESTION: Is there a way to manually set a restore point? In other words, I was able to find the files from the browser session, saved up until 6 weeks ago, but no later than that. So, it's clearly saving sessions somewhere... I'd think it would be easy to prompt it to save at that current point in time asking it to save. Anyone know if possible and how?

Hi everyone.

Basically when the browser is (I think) idle while watching YouTube, FF is constantly backing up (the timestamp in the backup file name keeps getting updated). From the settings page I thought it once every 24 hours. I noticed from higher than normal CPU usage impacting FF and the Windows search indexer. Which reverted to normal once I disabled the backup.

I checked the about config:

• browser.backup.scheduled.minimum-time-between-backups-seconds

Is set to 24 hours (86400 seconds)

But I also noticed:

• browser.backup.scheduled.idle-threshold-seconds

Is set to 15 seconds(!). Is that what I think it is? Back up whenever there's a 15 sec idle window, regardless of the minimum? Can I safely make that 86400 seconds too, or does it do something else entirely?

I'm changing computers. I want to upload my browser's bookmarks to a file. Then I can clear it for the next person to start from scratch. So far, I can't find a tab to make it happen. Please help. Thanks.
