(Win11Pro) If I allow Firefox to update itself from 123.14.0 ESR to 140.3.0 ESR (now apparently 140.3.1 ESR), the update apparently corrupts something in the browser so that it does not respond to the entry of ANY URL. I have to restore a backup of my C: drive, losing some recent data every time. As it stands, I cannot update Firefox beyond ESR 128.14.0, which is what I'm using now. What should I do? Do I have to switch to another browser? Thank you for your help with this. --AnneF

For past few weeks, Whenever I try to update FFX on windows 11, it fails. It takes me to another screen and tells me to download Firefox. When I try to download it , it aborts with this message.

To download Firefox with new version I have to use another browser but no choice. Then with new version of Firefox, I have faced the same issue of update and used same approach to update firefox to a newer version.
This error appears for some google sites as well but the same occurring for firefox download site itself is not understood.

apply patch failed message. version 143.0.1 September 19 2025 update. Yet states "updated" Details saying message apply patch failed is found via firefox browser settings-firefox update history-details. I noticed that on that exact day of the update Audible books will not play as they did previously on the same day prior to update. They play on every other browser but firefox.
How could the Firefox be up to date when also saying latest patch failed? How is this corrected?

After your most recent update my bookmarks disappeared and I cannot make any new bookmarks. Your updates are always intrusive and disruptive given that you shut down my computer while I am working, but until now you have not damaged anything. If I cannot rely upon you I will need to look for another search engine that is more reliable.

Hi,
I have updated to version 139 and now the latest (142) manually. When I go to About > Firefox, I got error: Firefox is being updated by another instance
I am the only user logged in. There isn't any other instance. There are no other profiles.
Any ideas or is this a bug? Thanks.

Is it safe to clear the Firefox(Android version) app data and caches from the device settings? I do clear both really often to free up space(some times even multiple times in a day), but i don't know if it can give problems... I don't care about my history and logins being lost since its expected, but i don't want the app to glitch, not updating or maybe lose security features or ending up with corrupted files or anything like that. Also, with the new update (142.0.1) a new look for the menu was added, i updated the app but i saw no difference, in the past when doing the clearing a new Firefox menu showed up, changes between clears(also, Firefox is my default browser, if it can help; also, could rebooting my phone after clearing data and caches give some problems?), i hope its not because of my frequent clears. Thanks to anyone who can help me figure this out, if any more info are needed i will be happy to tell you more about it. I don't know if im being paranoid or anything but better safe than sorry.
Have tried to update beyond 136
Message comes up "Updates discontinued by your organisation"
What does this mean please.

My new Win 11 PC out the box with a Firefox installed on it, worked fine for 2 weeks then an update from you guys causes it to crash, it is stuck in a perpertual reboot loop as windows crash, close then the app restarts despite being told to close, only a reboot will stop it from trying to open and then cause memory leaks.
Also, when are you guys going to incorporate a "Roll back feature" for these situations, so that the older working version can be retrieved.
All my important logins are on firefox and your programmers, whatever they did have jeopardised my ability to access important accounts.

After the 8/5/25 Firefox update the internet is inaccessible on my laptop through the standard Firefox browser. The internet is accessible with MS Edge. Toolbar is set to always show bookmarks but none appear. Also, the browser's application's menu does not open to access options such as restore previous session, recently closed tabs, etc. I've restarted my device several times without it resolving the issues with the standard browser.
The Firefox developer version opened in command prompt safe mode (firefox -safe-mode), which is how this inquiry is being sent, but no bookmarks on tool bar or current page history from the standard (non-developer) Firefox.
I'd like to return to accessing the internet using the standard Firefox version with its bookmarks, history, etc. I am using Windows 10. Thank you.

Apologies for the non-descript subject line, but it is accurate: I just attempted a normal update to firefox. The first problem once it relaunched was that it did not show any of my tabs that had been open; it just showed a single "new tab" page. Upon typing any URL, though, the browser does nothing. More specifically, it does not initiate ANY network traffic (according to Little Snitch Mini). I tried various things (redownloading and reinstalling, rebooting, and refreshing firefox), but nothing helped. With the "refresh firefox", the only result is that, after a minute or so, the crash reporter comes up.
Curiously, on the prior update to 140.0.4, I had exactly the same issues. I did manage to resolve it by retrying things the next day and the "refresh firefox" seemed to be the thing that fixed it.

Downloaded an update of firefox. Is this for real? A message box came up and said I would get a NEW version of firefox but all my things would be saved. Now I have two firefox versions. My old version has all my info and saved and/or chosen settings. HOWEVER the newer version is a new install without settings and WORSE it has GOOGLE as the browser?!?! Is DUCK DUCK GO gone to goOgle? If I wanted a shopping app I would use my GOOGLE account instead of Firefox. How do I fix this?
