Years ago I imported a Firefox profile from Ubuntu 16.04 to a PC running 18.04. It wasn't very hard. View Hidden Folders, find the old FF profile, copy it. Then go to the 18.04 PC, delete or rename the existing profile, and paste in the profile from the 16.04 rig. Restart the PC, Firefox came up on the 18.04 PC just like it did on the 26.04 PC.

But Ubuntu is doing something different now. Firefox is inside the "snap" folder. Apparently snap is some sort of new package mgr. (?)

I found a firefox profile a few levels down inside the snap folder: Home/snap/firefox/common/.mozilla/firefox/xxxxxxxx.default

Does snap complicate things? Or can I replace the new profile on the 22.04 PC inside the snap folder with the profile that I want to use from the 18.04 PC? Just like in the past, but inside snap rather than the .firefox folder in Home?

I saw where this was a problem with Netflix, Amazon Video and other sites with Fire Fox and that one person even used professional version and still had the same problem.

What I cannot see is where he got the video codex that allow Netflix to work on Fire Fox version 88, let alone this newest version that Mozilla has created.

What does the popup message 'Pending update of Firefox snap. Please close the app to avoid disruptions.', mean because that message doesn't give enough information to figure out what it means. I got that before when the last update happened and after that update every time I boot FF can't restore my tabs but I just click try again and it always works. Since I am getting the message again I thought I would try asking on the FF forums to find out what it means and maybe get the boot problem where FF can't restore the tabs when it first starts up fixed.

Kubuntu 22.04 last updated yesterday from all official Kubuntu/Ubuntu repos.

Home built. PC Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS

Since we have update our OS from Ubuntu 20.04 LTS to Ubuntu 22.04 LTS (a few days ago) Firefox has only shown a Blank screen at first start up, only the very top line is visible showing "Activities" then "Firefox Web Browser". Nothing will work, the only thing that does is Quit.

Restarting Firefox the second time seems to work Okay.

Please can you advise me?

Hello, I'm on Ubuntu 22.04 and have the Firefox (107.0 64bit) installed as a snap.

The drag and selecting text and even dragging objects on any websites doesn't work.

  • I select text on the website by pressing down and starting to drag the text doesn't select when I leave the hold the entire block gets highlighted
  • I use Excalidraw, the pencil tool drag and any object size change while drag doesn't work
  • Desmos I can't drag the points on the graph
  • The pointer just disappears on videos (not just YouTube) and isn't visible until I pause the video

Whenever a website prompts for me to upload or download a file and I except Firefox crashes, quitting in its entirety. This still occurs in "Troubleshoot" mode so I assume it is not any of my extensions. Here is a crash report from when this occurred if it helps. Another odd observation I made is that I am able to upload a file if I use a "drag-and-drop" feature on a website.

Firefox locking up -- one, two, or up to 8 tabs open doesn't matter!

I've only been having it issue since upgrading to Ubuntu 22.04. Firefox (103.0.2) will lock up (not the pc, it will keep working in other apps). It doesn't seem to matter about the number of tabs open, or what sites I'm accessing. It 'seems' random, and closing Firefox and reopening it seems to work for a short while before locking up again. I'm not a tech guru so I don't know exactly what to include here, like logs, or other info. The other issue associated with this issue is, when it locks, and I restart, Firefox does not start the first time I click on it. I have to click on it again and when I do, it will start, but usually (not every time) I get an error message along with the open home page of Firefox. I have to press the (not sure what to call it) windows key and switch to the error to close it. In the past, I've always had a great experience with Firefox, but this is starting to really be annoying! Especially when I have four of five tabs open and have to do a restart. Firefox doesn't seem to realize it's had a problem so the option to re-open tabs with a restart doesn't happen. So I have to use history, which can be troublesome and confusing, to get back to the pages I was reading. I only open multiple tabs most often when I'm researching an issue and want to 'order' the tabs so I read the ones that look like they apply the most to my research topic. So it really is an annoying issue. So much so, that I have been looking to switch browsers. But I really do not like the large commercial entities not to name names, but I may have to suck it up and install the Big G's browser, the Big C! )^: (note: if you respond requesting additional information, please be kind and offer how to obtain the info! Thanks!)

I first realized an issue with downloading PDFs through the Firefox viewer - I cannot. The download button does nothing, there is no prompt, no popup, and no file downloaded. I have also tried to print to pdf, that also seems to fail.

Today I realized I also cannot attach any files to an email through Gmail in Firefox, which is now leading me to believe that the software is unable to interface with my files at all.

Things I've tried include: - Turning off popup blocker - Refreshing Firefox in the ->Help->More Troubleshooting Information Menu - Starting Firefox in safe mode - Reinstalling through snap

The only way I can currently download files is through wget, and the only way I can send attachments is by installing Google Chrome, which is kind of a last resort for me.

I am running Ubuntu 22.04, this is on Firefox 106.0, though it didn't work last update either.

Thanks for any help

Edit: I have been googling for answers but after posting this question a similar thread popped up, the solution is to install the following packages:

xdg-desktop-portal xdg-desktop-portal-gtk

Ever since the update to Firefox 102 and continuing in 103, Netflix gives a F7701-1003 when attempting playback, naturally playback works fine(as it always does every time FF does this with each new release) in Chrome and Brave. All previous suggested work arounds do not resolve this issue.

Since no one answered this question the last 5 times people had to ask similar questions I will repeat this basic question.

Does Mozilla not test their updates prior to release?

Hello, I've upgraded my Ubuntu distribution from Ubuntu 20.04 to 22.04 yesterday. This forced me to update my Firefox version, I am now running the 104.0.2. I now have the following issue: on some websites, the page loads normally but as soon as it's loaded, the page becomes entirely blank. This doesn't seem to be a website issue, as it actually appears normal for a very short instant before it disappears. A website for which this happens is: https://www.lalibre.be/ (I only encountered the issue on another website but it's from the same editor). I tried in a private window and it works normally! I tried in the normal window after deactivating all the addons, it still doesn't work. I tried with or without the Firefox account logged in, it doesn't work. Until now, it's only these 2 websites from the same editor, but as I said, they worked fine yesterday, they work fine on other browsers and they work fine in Firefox private mode. Any idea where this might come from?

I am running a fresh instaled Ubuntu 2022.04, so this is the first Firefox-from-snap.

I am a Jupyter user, and when launch the Jupyter-lab (which try read a file in ~/.local/... directory) I get the deny; I can launch it when connect to Jupyter server, which is an annoying behaviour.

I browse for help, so I change the "security.fileuri.strict_origin_policy" to false, but didn't help

I verify that Firefox let me navigate my personal folder, but deny access to hidden folders (name starting with dot). I test this behaviour by create a new directory in my personal folder (navigable) and then change the name by adding the initial dot (access denyed).

I guess this is an effect of security policies of Firefox, but how can I change this policy in a safe way?

Hello dear firefox developpers.

Recently i realized firefox is not saving cache where it used to. that happens some versions ago to now.

By a sudden necessity, i need to access images stored in cache by facebook.

however, firefox has moved its cache, and have no idea where it stores it now.

the second point, is, if there is any way of "surf" cache, im not sure but i wonder, the cache is not what used to be, a collection of files related to what you surfed in the web, videos, htmls, pictures, etc.

I seems the cache now works in a different way, making solid archives composed of many images-videos..., instead of separate files for every image-video.

So, in a brief, 2 things:

- where is cache now - how can i access files in it, (images videos ..)

PD:im using ubuntu 20.04 PD2:have a nice day, and thanks. PD3: trolls will be attended in office hours

Hello, This issue might or might not be related to [other issue] I have since I updated Ubuntu 20.04 to 22.04 and therefore updated my Firefox to 104. I can't login anymore on Letterboxd since the update. It's not a problem of username or password. When I click "Sign in", nothing happens except a page refresh, but I'm still not logged in. Other strange behaviour on that site since the update: most of the images don't appear. For example on this page : https://letterboxd.com/films/# all the movie covers are just blank.

The website does work properly when using Firefox in private mode though (both login and images work fine), so this makes me think it's related to my other issue mentioned above.

OS: Ubuntu 22.04 Firefox 104.0.2

EDIT after posting this question: I just found out that I can't login on Google either. I enter my username, password, then it asks me to validate on another apparel that it's really me, which I do, and nothing happens so I can't login. It works normally in private mode.
