I'm inspecting an element and when I use the 3 dot menu and search, it shows me results in sources tab. I try to edit the result, but it won't let me edit the sources tab. It only lets me edit in the elements tab. How do I search the elements tab? It keeps sending me to sources. It would be great if sources was made read/write as well. Many thanks.

HI...I have over 6,000 bookmarks, created as files within a single folder on firefox over the past 30 years, all of which were created on one macbook or three. I migrated Firefox to them (as well as a iphone or even Amazon Fire) without their being ruined..don't understand why they, and any other folder on the macbook show under head category of 'mobile bookmarks'. That seems contradictory. B/C I was concerned about the lack of support on firefox (and my mail server-another story), I noticed these files and the folder do not transfer, say, to Chrome (or icloud). What little info there is on mobile bookmarks doesn't have real workaround. I tried creating HTML or JSON folders on my desk top but those too aren't picked up by another browser like Chrome...furthermore, Firefox "export bookmarks" doesn't allow individual folders to be exported, only the whole lot (except those mobile ones!). NO one told me using sync (or even icloud for storing desktop files/folders) would mean I can never export to other browsers!

Hi everyone! I am organizing a school event in which we will have a large group of people watching a livestream of the 2024 OSCARS on a big projector. This will be a free event to students, so we are not profiting off of attendance. We did this last year, but ran into difficulties as the projector screen turned black, and then when it did start working it would be without sound. For this year- Will firefox allow for this Oscars event to be streamed and transfer to a projector?

Thanks!

Windows Scaling and Layout Larger Text Bug

As a long time Mozilla software user, this is where I go first for Firefox and Thunderbird issues. I am fully aware that the Windows Scaling and Layout is a Micro$oft problem. But I found a fix somewhere for Firefox that changed the top of the screen in Firefox (the menu bar, etc.), which took all of 30 seconds to fix. It was a simple about:config edit.

Yesterday I discovered that gmail.com can be set up in Thunderbird, which I did not know previously, so I installed it and set my email up the way I had it on my Window 7 desktop that half of the stuff for )KB, Mouse, etc.) disappeared when my kids moved my house while I was in the hospital. This laptop has Windows 10, and everything was fine, although I could barely read a lot of text on it, until I set the Scaling and Layout to 150%. After that the text was big enough for me to read, but the header and footer in Firefox took up most of the screen. I looked around and found a fix. Now I need something similar for Thunderbird.

Just like before, every post I've read is talking about how to make fonts bigger. That isn't the problem I need to fix. CTRL + Fixes that just fine. I'm talking about the very top of the screen, where the menu bar and page tabs are. On my 23" monitor, I took a standard plastic ruler and this area is just under two inches, where as in Thunderbird it's over three.

I'm getting old, and my memory isn't what it used to be, but I think I changed the ui.textScaleFactor to 100, but while Thunderbird has that field, it has three options and I don't want to mess with that until I am advised on the proper way to address this issue. At minimum, I would at least like the tabs to be smaller, but if I could the headers to be the same size as Firefox, that would be ideal.

Thank you in advance and Happy New Year!

When I tried to print something I would get a "Preparing Preview" hang.

Other support answers, suggested 1. deleting the default printer 2. delete some custom settings in about:config

Both solutions did not work for me.

In my case it turned out the firewall was the issue:

During the Preparing Preview, firefox tries to connect to port 80 then port 631.

In my case, the firewall was dropping everything except RELATED/ESTABLISHED.

Opening port 631 for the printer did not help either, because firefox was trying port 80 first. Since all requests were silently dropped (default IPtable policy), firefox waited forever for an answer.

Now with the following rules, it worked. [0:0] -A INPUT -p tcp -m tcp --dport 631 -m state --state NEW -j ACCEPT [0:0] -A INPUT -p tcp -j REJECT --reject-with tcp-reset

These rules needs to be on IPV4 and IPV6 firewalls.

On my Macbook air (m1 2020 14.3.1 (23D60)) /etc/hosts is ignored by Firefox 123

i've tried multiple offered (old) solutions from stack but non work.

FAILED ATTEMPTS:

  • DNS over https -> off
  • network.trr.excluded-domains ... tried to add the domains in the dns over https exeptions ... didn't work either
  • added the domains to network.trr.excluded-domains
  • cleared cache
  • restart ff
  • migrating all my /etc/hosts config from multiple domains on a single line to separate lines did. Hope this helps someone.
  • network.ttr.mode = 5
  • sudo dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder in the terminal

Background: I run my own server and I cannot access them over the internet if I am on the same network (rounter dissallows this) This is annoying as I cannot develop via my laptop.

/etc/hosts is changed and in the terminal all (ssh etc...) works fine.

What is the proper way of doing this these days?

Hello Mozilla Support Community,

I'm an aspiring web developer diving into the world of Firefox add-ons to enhance my workflow. While I'm familiar with some popular add-ons like Firebug and Web Developer Toolbar, I'm eager to explore more tools that can streamline my development process further.

I'm particularly interested in add-ons that aid in tasks such as:

Code Editing: Are there any add-ons that offer advanced code editing features within Firefox, such as syntax highlighting, autocomplete, or code snippets management?

Page Inspection and Debugging: I'm looking for add-ons that provide robust tools for inspecting and debugging web pages. Something akin to Firefox's built-in Developer Tools but with additional features or customization options would be fantastic.

Performance Optimization: Are there any add-ons geared towards optimizing website performance, such as identifying and resolving bottlenecks, analyzing page load times, or minimizing resource usage?

Cross-Browser Testing: I'm curious about add-ons that facilitate cross-browser testing within Firefox, allowing me to preview and debug my web projects across different browsers without leaving the browser window.

Accessibility Testing: Given the importance of accessibility in web development, I'm interested in add-ons that assist in testing and ensuring web accessibility compliance.

Version Control Integration: Lastly, I'm wondering if there are any add-ons that seamlessly integrate version control systems like Git or SVN into Firefox, providing convenient access to version control features directly from the browser.

If you have any recommendations or personal favorites in these categories or any other add-ons that you find indispensable for web development, I would greatly appreciate your insights. Thank you in advance for your help and expertise!

I live in the sticks and get my internet via satellite. Sometimes it's acceptably fast and I can watch a video, not live, but after only a short wait to download it.

I have Tranquility Reader extension, and this is very useful. But whenever possible, I'd like to be able to see images, ads, and whatnot. Is it possible to automatically activate an extension, this extension, when my download speed is less than 10Mbps.

Can this be done currently? If so, how? If not, would you be able to notify me if this feature is ever added or something similar.

Thank you, Charles Smith Murphy, NC

Unrelated but posted THIS as well: How do I get FF to ASK ME EVERYTIME WHERE I WANT TO DOWNLOAD FILES? It's box is ticked, but it STILL saves it to a temp file and opens the file in a window. When I posted that query I just got a bunch of canned responses of kb articles telling me to follow the steps I had already tried.

Thanks!

Interestingly, today after changing motherboards and my old hard drives after my old MB died. Windows 10 reconfigured everything for audio except Firefox. After a lot of troubleshooting using various methods with no success (as all other aspects of windows 10 audio were working perfectly), I eventually stumbled upon a solution that finally worked for me.

In Windows 10, there is an app that varies individual app volume that eventually fixed my issue and i thought it best to post here for others, if they also have this particular problem.

All i did was the following:

1. Do a windows search for "App Volume". This will display Sound Mixer Options. Select it.

2. In the App Volume and device preferences screen that appears, go to Mozilla Firefox.

        a. Ensure Volume is at a setting you prefer.
        b. Output/Input are most likely showing Default. Mine did but YouTube video's still had no sound.
Change the Defaults to the same as the Masters at the top of the window and try your audio.
Mine started to work again at this stage. After i confirmed everything was working again, i changed
Mozilla Firefox Output/Inputs back to Default and it continued to work perfectly.

Please note that I made sure all my OTHER audios were working first with W10 before doing this, ensuring everything was functioning properly. ie. Other browsers were playing youtube videos with sound, playing an audio music file, etc

I remember long ago on an ancient browser there was an option in the print dialog to print a table of the links on a web page. Very useful for a page which has a lot of in-line links but no 'references'-like list of them all at the end. This can painstakingly be done by copying and pasting from the source code, but... years later, do we really not have a better way, like we used to??

Hello. For some time, under each entered expression in the sent post office there has been a red "wavy" underlining. The problem is to choose a language. In my case it is Polish. Unfortunately, in the Firefox browser, which I use, there is no option to change the language to Polish (Annex 1) as it is in the Google Chrome browser (Annex 2). Why? I would like to add that this phenomenon only occurs in the case of Onet in Firefox. How can this be removed? Regards Alex.
