Hi,

I have over 1000 HTML e-books stored on my local hard drive.

The e-books come from Baen Books. They are organized as one primary file HTML file that uses javascript and sets up frames. One frame holds the text contents of each chapter in the e-book. A separate frame hold a table of contents where the user clicks on javascript-generated links to load the desired chapter into the first frame.

My problem seems to be that the javascript that creates the table of contents does not seem to be executing, or at least, part of it is not, as most of the links in the ToC frame do not show up.

For what it's worth, using MS Internet Explorer, this was enabled by checking the option inside "Advanced Internet Options" called "Allow active content to run files on My Computer".

Unfortunately, until today, the e-books worked without a hitch in Firefox. I never needed to set anything inside Firefox to allow these e-books to run, before—they just did.

By the way, I'm using Firefox 95.0.2 (64-Bit), under Windows 10 (also 64-bit).

Thanks in advance for your help,

Mike

I am using Windows 11 and I have 3 virtual desktops. In my Firefox settings "Open previous windows and tabs" is checked. One time I'll close Firefox and reopen it later and it opens up in all 3 virtual desktops and restores the tabs for each. Great! The next time I reopen it, it loses all the tabs and opens up in the current virtual desktop to the web page I have set as home. Not so great. The behavior seems kind of random. How do I get it to work the way I want all the time? Is there some additional setting or plugin that would do it? Or do I have to close Firefox in a certain way to get it to reopen the way I want? Is it affected by my use of Firefox on other devices with synced Firefox settings?

Firefox is an excellent browser. I use it on all of my devices.

Is there a way to save the current tab to a URL file on the Windows (Version 7 and 10) file system. I realize you can do that by dragging the URL from the Firefox URL list box to the file folder but for various reasons I was hoping that it would also be possible as one of the choices from the Menu (as in "\File\Save Page As").

If that is possible I have another question.

In a Windows file folder with a number of URL files, can I select a number of those files and right-click the selected files and have them all loaded on to Firefox simultaneously.

I know that this worked with a single URL file in a Windows file folder (by Double Clicking it) but I have not been able to find a way to do it with a group of selected URLs in a Windows file folder.

Both of the above were available in the old (now no longer functional) IExplorer from Microsoft.

None of this is critical but I was just curious.

Thanks.
