High memory use when checking downloads folder through browser. I have a total of 3 DDR2 Gbytes of ram. Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU T4500 @ 2.30GHz Win 7 home pr. 64bit. Firefox 27.0 beta I right click on a file to "open containing folder" from the drop down menu in downloads. When the folder has been opened, explorer is trying to index the folder (which it never does completely or well after 5 minutes I close the folder and shut down the dllhost process cause laptop is blazing hot) and memory keeps increasing till no more is available. I checked task manager and see that dllhost is the particular process that is causing the spike in memory usage even after closing the folder I right click and stop the process and memory is restored after awhile.

Every time I open the Mozilla FF browser the following tabs appear: Mozilla Welcome, the Default Mozilla screen, AVG Secure Search and Coupon Bar. I also get a prompt to enter my Pocket username and Password. Before I updated FF, I would not get all those tabs upon start up and I would already be logged into Pocket. I haven't changed anything in my settings, so I don't know why it's like this all of a sudden.

Firefox stopped displaying normally pages of Hotmail and Facebook, all is meshed up, unusable-both in version 26.0. -where as well YouTube didn't work (or anything with Flash).

So i wanted to install again older version of Mozilla which i didn't figure how i could do it, it would always lead me to newest version, so i decided to install version 27beta.

With 27 beta, YouTube works, but problem with Hotmail and Facebook, i really don't understand - it works in IE of course. Meanwhile i didn't change anything on my computer.

I've had this problem for about 5 weeks, since early december 2013. When I close the lid of the laptop after browsing wit FF, the laptop goes to sleep-mode. When I open it again, FF does not work (open links) or does it terribly slowly. When I close it and restart, a popup says that FF is already running but not responding. Shutting firefox.exe from Task Manager works and I can start it again.

I have read all the threads about this problem and tried every trick given, but to no avail. I would not like to go back to an earlier version. I also have a Lenovo thinkpad and a desktop which do not have this problem. I have tried updating the Samsung, but no updates are available and it hasn't been updated lately, so that can't have caused this.

I have my webmail site bookmarked. now when I click on it I get: The connection was interrupted

The connection to webmail.san.rr.com was interrupted while the page was loading.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

WHat do I need to do to fix this. When I use Google Chrome and Internet Explorer my bookmark takes me direct to my page....only firefox is giving me this crazy problem so I know it it Firefox.

I am using the Beta version of Firefox (27) but I have seen the same behavior in recent released levels. I enter a search at www.google.com , such as rc heating and cooling nj I then get a page of results. I click on any result (first one is fine, though an Add, any of them work the same way). I see their page. When I hit the Back arrow to get back to the page of results and try another link, it flashes some google redirect URL on the address bar, and then goes right back to the same page I was on. It always brings me back to the same page I was on. If I click on the Back Arrow button with the right mouse button I see three links in the history for that tab, and I can chose the bottom one to go back to the Google search page: 1) Bergen County Heating & Air Conditioning ... (www.dbheatingandcooling.com/?gclid=CNft9ZLC57sCFel9OgodkWUAqQ ) 2) http://www.google.com/aclk?sa=l&ai=CES...&adurl=www.dbheatingandcooling.com 3) rc heating and cooling nj - Google Search ( https://www.google.com/search?q=rc+heating+and+cooling+nj&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-beta&channel=sb ) When on 1) back arrow causes 2) to flash and I go back to 1), always. I can use the right button to drop down the entire list and if I click on 3) then it takes me back to the search results page. Clicking on 2) also takes me back to #1) , BTW. The Google redirect (#2) is sometimes http://www.google.com/url?sa=... instead of aclk?sa=... depending on which link I click, but it is the same behavior. This does not happen in Internet Explorer (IE 8). I see the redirection URL also flashing by in IE, but the back button works and takes me back to the search results page.

I have two machines on which Firefox crashes often while working. I have submitted my crash IDs with the other machine yesterday, I'm doing the same for the second machine with this thread. Hardware acceleration is disabled. Crashes happen with add-ons enabled (haven't tried safe mode). Crashes happen in a random manner. There are quite many Firefox CPU spikes on this machine.

This has happened often, I've had Norton Identity Safe on several different FF versions and it works fine, no worries. Suddenly I open my browser--I've preferred FF for years now--and my Norton bar is gone, the add-on directory tells me it's not compatible. It was the day before. Tonight it happened, and it was the hour before. I thought it was my computer, then my Norton vault, so I uninstalled and reinstalled Norton after having done scans and optimizing my computer with Webroot. I tried several different FF versions from Old Apps and none of them worked with Norton Identity Safe--this had never happened before. I had always been able to find one that would enable this program to work. I now have a sadly unhappy cat who wanted some bonding time, and a computer I want to pound with a blunt object--but it's all I've got, cyberwise. Instead of cat-time, I'm downloading FF and wishing. And growling. And the Ceiling Cat is not happy. Please advise. Which program is the magic one?

Firefox.exe -p or firefox -ProfileManager opens a new window with the home page. Does anyone know how and why this should be happening?

Now I've changed (several) dozens of options in about:config over the years and everything works exactly as expected apart from this thing. Is there something that could be reverted to get the desired result, or is there another way to get to the profile manager?

It's a rather weird issue, and I would expect others to have the same issue unless for some reason Firefox is behaving differently for me... It has annoyed me for quite some time, so now I'm finally [being unlazy and] reporting it.

Steps to reproduce:

  • 1. Use option "when Firefox starts: show windows and tabs from previous session".
  • 2. Use a lot of tabs (i.e. in your main window).
  • 3. Sometimes, something opens in a pop-up window (i.e. without tabs, buttons, ... and with a disabled URL bar) which you close later, and continue working in your main window.
  • 4. Close Firefox, restart Firefox, and it remembers your main window with your tabs. It does NOT open the other window(s) that I temporarily used (they are supposed to have been closed permanently).
  • 5. In your main window, close all your tabs.
  • 6. Close Firefox, restart Firefox, and suddenly all the pop-up windows that I temporarily used, re-appear. This can be a LOT of windows. One of them, Firefox re-uses as your "main window", while the rest remain pop-up windows.

What I then (have to) do is close the tab in the "main window" (so the window is forgotten next time I restart Firefox) and close all other pop-up windows. And then repeat this for each window until I finally got rid of all these windows.

I have no idea how to really close such pop-up windows and make Firefox forget them so they don't re-appear.

Thanks in advance if anyone can help me.

Ever since November any build past Firefox 27 has installed but immediately crashes after a few seconds without ever opening the firefox application. Every single nightly build I have attempted to try has the same problem, the 64 bit builds are no longer properly opening for me. They throw a windows crash report, not even the Mozilla one. I have tried resetting firefox, and uninstalling, i've tried portable builds and simply running the extracted updates.
