Using Mozilla.cfg to focus a custom new tab page

Hi everyone,

I am having trouble getting my custom new tab page to be focused when opened (instead of the address bar).

I am currently using the `autoconfig.js` + `mozilla.cfg` approach to overriding the `AboutNewTab.jsm` service with a custom local file. This is working great with the two files containing this code:

autoconfig.js: ``` pref("general.config.filename", "mozilla.cfg"); pref("general.config.obscure_value", 0); ```

mozilla.cfg: ``` // Custom firefox config

let { classes:Cc, interfaces:Ci, utils:Cu } = Components;

try {

 Cu.import("resource:///modules/AboutNewTab.jsm");
 let newTabURL = "file:///home/vallode/Documents/test/index.html";
 AboutNewTab.newTabURL = newTabURL;

} catch(e) { Cu.reportError(e); } ```

I have been attempting to use the `gBrowser` global to add an event listener to the new tab opening, but with no success. Could anyone point me in the right direction for something like this?

I'm using Fedora 32 and I have the middle mouse button disabled in the gnome tweak tool. But for whatever reason, Firefox seems to ignore this. What I really want is for Firefox to stop closing tabs when I have the mouse cursor hovered over a tab and I touch the wrong part (the middle) of the touch pad. This is just a huge usability problem. I'm killing tabs all the time, sometimes with forms and email messages in them. Help?

So I'm trying to lock the preferences on the privacy & security options. I currently have a .js file named autoconfig.js in my "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\pref" I also have mozilla.cfg in my "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox".

When I go to the about:config however it is not greyed out or locked in anyway. I was wondering if anyone could spot what I'm doing wrong.

Yes my File name extensions is on.

I use openbox as my windowmanager with NO desktop environment on Archlinux.

I want to hide the titlebar (border) but when using openbox this option is NOT SHOWN. It is shown when i use another Desktop Environment like xfce4 or Gnome.

In the past i found out that a variable like DESKTOP_ENVIRONMENT, DE or XDG_SESSION_DESKTOP could be set with the value of another Desktop Environment to mislead Firefox.

However, i can't find the right variable any more and i have been googling and googling for days :-(

Please help, i like openbox & firefox (without titlebar)

Hi --

As of the latest version of Firefox (v78.0.2 x64), all new tabs open at the end of the list of current tabs. If I only had a few tabs open, that MIGHT be okay, but since I keep many open, it's incredibly annoying. All I want is to open a new tab and have it appear to the right of the current tab. So far...

  • I've tried setting "browser.tabs.insertAfterCurrent" to true, with no effect.
  • I've tried the add-on "Always Right", with no effect.

Since I've noticed this behavior in many previous versions of FF, I doubt that uninstall/reinstall will address the problem, so I didn't try.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance to all!

I am trying to emulate the expected behavior I have from Chromium based browsers. I want my two email accounts to open on startup but then when I open a new window, for just the blank tab to open (Firefox home). There doesn't seem to be a way to do that. I can make them my "home" pages so that they load on startup, but then when I open a new window, it opens both of my home pages as tabs in that new window. Any help? See attached screenshot, is there something I'm missing or is this behavior just not possible in Firefox?

I'd like to add a couple of lines of Javascript that will automatically log me in my email once the page loads (my provider has no "remember me" option. I found an extension [an extension](https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/javascript/) that allows me to do this, but unfortunately, my email provider has a strict [CSP](https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/CSP), and the extension is blocked.

Is there any way around this? Can I tell Firefox to ignore the CSP for this one webpage, or maybe run some Javascript automatically via dev tools?

Hello. When I open a new tab in Firefox, there are top sites that I cannot remove. I have set for there to be 4 rows of top sites, but Amazon is not only not pinned, but when I try to dismiss it, nothing happens. I have tried clearing my history, and editing and replacing the link with another site only creates another Amazon top site square. Any help would be much appreciated as it is becoming a pet peeve! I need the browser text to be larger both on Firefox homepage as well as on websites my search brings up. iPhone has controls that work on it’s own sites and also many sites I click on. Does Firefox have anything similar?

As another example, the text I’m typing here is barely legible for me.

I’m not blind or near-blind. I’m just an average middle-aged person, who started having eyesight problems magically appear at 40.
