WIN 10/Firefox 80. Just re-installed after SIX WEEKS MS WIN 10 Update PC hell! Replaced beloved Firefox w/Bing: no connection to/Internet. Wrecked email/printer/Pocket/crashed/froze/you name it! Digression #1: once 8 AM - 3 AM next morning: fought w/software. MS/Google ALL assume entire world's millenial w/ Smartphones. "We'll text you pw code." Old flip-phone CAN'T text. Why no email? SO happy w/Firefox again! Digression #2: 3/1-2 hrs sleep last night. HEROIC Best Buy Geek Squad cs agent ("7 AM - 1 PM"). 2 restore points on external hard drive.

  1. 1: Today. SIX WEEKS CCleaner, still: MS 10 Update installed MBs of WIN Explorer files. NEVER used it!
  2. 2: 6 weeks ago (pre-WIN 10 Update hell). Tuned up PC, installed LOVELY FF 80. THANK-YOU, MOZILLA! Please pardon digressions.

Problem: Installed "Protect My Choices Extension"/won't run b/c default FF 80 Privacy/Security setting = Block ALL trackers. Helpful articles re custom settings, but can't do it. English major: but after 6 weeks BITTER IT intro, do much. After 3-1/2 hrs sleep, can't follow instructions. Now 10:30 PM; try to calm down/sleep this after this post. TIA, MOZILLA!

Hi,

Last week, Firefox told me to update my android phone browser. I did & updated it with firefox nightly. I used this opportunity to change my main email address. Then, I decided to create a new my keyword, on my phone. At last, I created a backup key to protect my keyword & downloaded it, but can't find it anymore.

Since, impossible to open my account on any of my devices (Macbook, IPad & Android phone) because my main keyword is considered wrong.

Computer browser is 80.0.1 version IPad browser is 28.0 (18809) version.

I have a main email address & a secondary one (which receives no information from firefox). On my phone, I'm asked a 4 figures code that I can't find anywhere. I tried to download the QR code authentification application, but my MAC browser does not show any QR Code, it asks me the main keyword.

I don't want to loose all my IDs & keywords. I'm going mad, what should I Do ?

The world is not-so-slowly getting undermined by sophisticated technical attacks on our understanding of reality (pretty much any topic - take politics as an example). One of the newer technology is the ability to create, through sophisticated digital editing tools that utilize artificial intelligence, videos that simulate public figures doing or saying whatever the author wishes. There are DeepFake pornographic movies with popular actors and politicians. They run the gamut of ones imagination. Without specific tools to detect and block such products, we're all just sitting ducks in a rising tide of disinformation.

I would like to see a tool embedded in Firefox that detects and notifies the user/viewer of deepfake graphics: photo or video images.

There are of course issues. Performance is certainly one. This might be mitigated by having images buffered in the cloud where they could be analyzed with high performance hardware - then they could be downloaded to our smartphones and other devices. People with high end hardware could do this locally as an option.

I could go on, but I think I've summarized the need.

Here's a tool that Microsoft just released: https://techcrunch.com/2020/09/02/microsoft-launches-a-deepfake-detector-tool-ahead-of-us-election/

When I am using gmail I have the calandar application on the right. It has a link to open the full calandar in a new tab. However, firefox throws a warning about the page doing a redirect and I have to click allow. How do I turn that off for gmail / calandar only? I've looked at the exceptions but that doesn't seem to work or I'm not looking at the right settings.

When using Facebook messenger I receive audio & video ok. When calling someone on messenger I get a drop-down message from Firefox asking me if I want to allow use of my camera & microphone. Despite me approving use, I only ever broadcast audio, leaving a blank screen for recipient. Please do not get me involved with technicalities - I am competent with the hardware on my laptop and can bang out spread sheets and documents, emails, and browse the web - I just cannot fathom out trouble shooting and do not have the confidence to "mess about". I guess it's an age thing.

I have had many an expensive trip to my local computer repair shop, to undo the mess I have got into trying

to sort out alledgedly "easy problems"

Every PC I have has Firefox, but only ones updated to 79 or later list i.ebayimg.com as blocked content, and won't display the eBay thumbnails in my email.

Switching to Standard Protection or turning of Protection OFF for Outlook.com fixes this, but it shouldn't be happening at all.

I use a Firefox account and all of my browsers all have the same basic setup - no exceptions set on any of them, for any site.

Hi, loving the multi-account containers. A quick question as I may be using them wrong or misunderstanding their usage...

I have a Google container set up, who doesn't?

So I'm on a Google site (www.google.com) and it's showing as inside a container. If I then use the address bar to search for something, that directs to duck-duck-go or using the address bar to go to say https://store.pine64.org/product-category/pinephone/. it stays in the container.

I had assumed that as I move away from the contained site it would close the container.

Been using Firefox on Android 7 for years without issue, but the latest update to 80.1.2 is hijacking Google searches. What do I mean? If I type 'http://www.google.com' into the URL bar and press ENTER, Firefox is adding a 'fspf' parameter to the URL to get their money from Google as if I'd performed a search directly from the URL bar.

Forcing the user to participate in some pay for play arrangement that they explicitly do not want to participate in seems unethical to me. How can I prevent Mozilla from commandeering my Google searches to monetize them on my device?

Thanks in advance for any potential solutions. Not interested in hearing why I shouldn't care, or why I should allow it.

Hello,

I try to access the Internet through my proxy. It authenticates the users with the negotiate method, in other words, it uses Kerberos as the first option and NTLM as fallback.

This configuration works properly with other browsers, but it doesn't with 80.0.1 Firefox. I checked with a wireshark capture that Firefox uses NTLM but it never shows the pop-up. So the user sees a 407 error and cannot browse.

I've read some threads I have to enable NTLM in Firefox settings but it doesn't work: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1013449 https://superuser.com/questions/664656/how-to-configure-firefox-for-ntlm-sso-single-sign-on

Any idea?

Best regards, Javier

I recently set up a primary password (formerly master password) to protect my saved logins. However, when I tried to enter my password to access edit my saved logins, I got a message saying that the password was incorrect.

I know that I have the correct password, because I recorded it when setting up the primary password. I wrote the password in a text file, and then ctrl+v'd it into the password box, so there is no way that the password could have been wrong.

How can I access my logins without having to reset all my logins?

Hi,

I'm trying to find an add on for Dark Mode on Firefox, but every one of them has this one permission "Access your data for all websites," which simply means it can read the data I enter (usernames, passwords, etc).

Why would Dark-Mode extensions need this permission? Is it possible for extensions to actually send my data it reads to somewhere?

Thank you for your attention.

I used 'Facebook container' for years and it's a great extension. It prevented Facebook to track me all over the web. Now, I'm done with Facebook for good. I deleted my account. My question is: do I still need 'Facebook Container'? Do Facebook trackers also collect data from unsigned users? Should I turn off the extension, or is there any reason I should let it on?
