Hi

Number 9 appears as dashes on some websites as per example above. I also have a network media device and when I use the web interface it does the same.

I have tried the solutions provided in the previous 2 threads but no change. My system is Linux Mint 19.3. Iam asking here as the previous solution was archived and it advised me to start a new thread.

Thank you.

After opening a mp3 file in a new tab, the audio starts playing. When the space-bar is pressed the playback pauses, and when it is pressed again the playback plays.

But when I pause/play the playback with mouse click, the space-bar keyboard shortcut stops working. After this, pressing the space-bar doesn't play/pause the playback.

However, once I reload the tab, the keyboard shortcut starts working again.

The keyboard shortcut works inconsistently.

Please help.

Hello,

I have for now a work flow where I share my bookmarks between different firefox profiles, without any acces to web/net/cloud/whatever..., all is local to my computer. This works well with an old firefox version. But, because there is a but. I'm blocked in this situation. My firefox version is 60.9.0esr. I can't go higher because starting with firefox version 62, there where changes that prevent concurrent access to sqlite databases.

I did some search in addons to try to find an alternative, without success. I also already done a research in previous support questions, without success too.

So, maybe someone have an idea or suggestion, to help me achieve that, or something similar, with newer firefox version. I need to upgrade to something more up to date.

Thanks in advance, K.

So, I have been looking for lots of solutions but none of them worked. I'm using Ubuntu 20.04 and want to install and update Firefox Dev automatically. I tried some ways:

  • By package manager:

First, I uninstalled the default Firefox, removed its ppa repo then added Firefox Dev ppa and installed. Opened up and it was still normal Firefox.

  • By downloading .deb file from Mozilla:

I could install by this way but every time has an update, Firefox will notify me "Firefox can't udpate to the latest version. Download a fresh copy of Firefox". I also have Chrome to be installed via .deb, it can update automatically. Why Firefox can't? It's very annoying that every time I open Firefox, it pops the notification up. It's impossible that every time Firefox has an update (which occurs regularly!) I have to go to homepage, download then install it manually. I can write a script to update Firefox but I want an official support from Mozilla.

I use Linux Mint with separated root and files partitions. I always select the downloads to be saved in the files partitions, but a copy is also saved in the root. I discovered this when I clicked in the "open containing folder" icon in the downloaded files list. Is this a bug or a setting? How can I make just one copy of the file? Thanks!

Running Ubuntu Linux in version 80.01.

Problem: Since Updating to Firefox 76, a strange problem occurs. All dark colors and context menu backgrounds become transparent. When having a window open behind the Firefox window, it will show through in all areas with dark colors (through images, text, menu's). This problem proves an issue, as I had to change my main desktop background to a solid black one to make Firefox usable, even so, I cannot use the context menus while on a website with a white background.

Solutions I have attempted: Changing browser themes/system themes Reverting all cosmetic changes Disabling all privacy add-ons Reverting all modified settings Even a fresh install using a different (default) profile did not work

What semi-works Booting in safe mode does fix the issue but the fresh install did not.

My question is: Does safe mode do additional modification to the browser other than reverting user modified settings? Basically, does safe mode mimic a fresh installation and if it does do additional changes, is it possible mimic the cosmetic changes that it does for normal browsing?

Since several version of Firefox, I'm unable to use the menu of Firefox when in full screen as it shows itself outside of screen. As I understand it, the origin of the windows seems not correct, as the arrow on the top, which should be under the mouse pointer, is at the opposite. (See the picture attached, it's probably best explained that way).

I've tried to launch Firefox in safe mode, but It didn't change anything.

About three days ago, I noticed that the right-click menu Save Page As and Save Image As no longer work. Alt-F Save As doesn't either. Cannot attach a file to an e-mail because Browse does nothing. It doesn't seem to be an OS problem because other programs (Midori, Thunderbird) work. The path in about:config is correct. The computer is not on a network and I haven't been using remote locations.

There was one incident a week ago where the suggested URL's in the address bar showed character codes instead of some of the characters, but worked correctly when clicked. This went away when I closed and re-opened Firefox. An unexplained "firefox.tmp" file appeared in Downloads at that time.

Hi there,

I am using Firefox 80.0.1 in Ubuntu 18.04, although I have also encountered the following problem in previous versions of Firefox.

I have Firefox configured to always ask me where to download files.

Whenever I try to download a file, Firefox always suggests as destination directory a temporary directory, such as:

/run/user/1000/doc/643c8d42

It doesn't matter if I choose a different location, next time I try to save a file Firefox always defaults to a similar temp directory.

I have tried fiddling with the variables browser.download variables, such as browser.download.LastDir, but it does not fix the problem.

Any suggestions, please? Thanks in advance.

I have a new router that Ive been working on, the keyboard shortcut to log out of a session is Ctrl D, but when I do the short cut key press the ever efficient FFox tries to bookmark the page. So what I need is a way to change the keystrokes for either FFox or my router. Im guessing that FFox will be more tolerant to the change than my router but I also have a similar query being presented to the router manufacturer. Can you help me with this?

I am using Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS. I have installed the latest version of Firefox. However, Firefox does not play Vimeo videos. The video's title frame downloads and the loading button displays but the video never starts. Interestingly, the video plays very well in Chrome.

I have already done what is recommended in the following webpages: https://linuxize.com/post/how-to-install-ffmpeg-on-ubuntu-18-04/ https://vimeo.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115015677227-Troubleshoot-player-error-messages https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1206076

But none of these solutions have worked. Could someone help me on this? I prefer using Firefox to Chrome.

Hi all. Mozilla Firefox is very slow on my Linux Laptop with the Qualcomm Atheros QCA9565/AR9565 Wireless Network Adapter (with open-source driver ath9k). It takes a lot of time to resolve hosts and to load the webpages.

I am reporting the issue here because Chromium and the rest of web explorers work good and they are as fast as one may expect. When using Windows 10 with the same laptop, Firefox also has no issues and works perfectly well. It appears to be an issue of the combination of Firefox + this specific driver & network adapter.

Used Manjaro, Ubuntu 16, Ubuntu 20 with a lot of kernels ranging from 4.15 to 5.8 and the issue persists and does not seem to be tied to any specific distribution.

I can do some tests if you require so.
