Hi! I have been using Firefox for quite some time, and as of yesterday I have encountered a problem. Any site I try to watch video on, be it Twitch, Youtube, etc., the videos now pause every 1-2 seconds to buffer for 4-5 seconds. The progress bar at the bottom of the Youtube videos will say they are loaded well passed the point its stopping to "buffer" at, and this is only occurring on Firefox, I have tested other browsers and am not encountering this issue. Troubleshoot mode also doesn't change anything, and neither does private browsing.

It was working just fine, and suddenly it stopped working. I hadn't rebooted my computer for over a month, and accidentally popped the circuit breaker the computer was connected to, so it rebooted for the first time in a long time. No other issues except Firefox will not connect to the internet when Proton VPN is running, but Firefox works just fine when the VPN is turned off.

I updated to the latest version of Firefox, so I assume that's the same thing as reinstalling it.

Proton VPN allows you to do what they call "split tunneling", where some browsers are excluded from the VPN (Firefox) and other browsers are always behind the VPN (everything else). I use Firefox as a secondary backup browser when the VPN is a problem and I don't want to turn it off.

I ran the Firefox "Safe Mode" and that failed to connect as well. I don't think it's the VPN? But maybe?

Any help appreciated, and thanks in advance.

Currently on Linux, but the problem is probably not OS-specific (although any work-around may be).

What I look for:

I want one setup for work, one for union, and one for personal use. If my work setup would be compromised, union bookmarks, search history etc is not compromised at the same time. Also, my work setup is not cluttered with private bookmarks and addons. Obviously, it'd be nice if those setups could be handled as separate start menue icons, so that I don't need to switch using a couple of clics, but just start the right setup directly. Needless to say nowadays, that these setups need to be syncable between devices. Ideally I as a person would have one Mozilla account that can store multiple profiles and protect each one with a seperate password, OR I as a person would have multiple Mozilla accounts that are made for easy switching.

What I've tried:

Multiple accounts, obviously; they sync between devices, which profiles really do not. The problem I run into is that I still need a separate profile for each account if I don't want to log in and out of them (which I don't want indeed, Alt-Tabbing during my leisure time is the only way for me to get things done for union and often for the office-part of work).

Finding the profile feature was hard enough but I adopted and have the about:profiles page bookmarked in all profiles. But whenever I start using a new computer, I need to set up new profiles. I tried saving them in a custom location on my nextcloud so that they can sync, but there is no straight forward way to import profiles. You need to create new ones and then move the contents of the old ones, instead of just pointing ff to an existing profile; that kind of kills the point of picking a custon location in the first place. All I ever do with a new profile is logging in to one of my already highly profiled accounts.

Along the way I realized that there is a now more GUI-way to create profiles, so I tried that. But when I tried choosing a custom location for them, I failed. Took me a while of restarting and googling to find out that Mozilla has managed to have two completely seperate features with the exact same name! That is, when you create a profile the modern way, it does not appear in about:profiles and vice versa.

Since I ditched the idea of custom location anyway, I setteled with the new way. But when I thought I'd make seperate startmenue links for them, because surely you can handle that with some kind of flag in the command, I could find only one option for profiles, and, as you can guess, it works with the old profiles.

It seems that one can start with a profile at a certain path, so maybe the old way with custom path could be something for me anyway, but when I used such a profile, I got a warning message that says that history and bookmark functions might not work properly and that some security program may cause this.

So, how is one actually supposed to use different accounts OR how is one supposed to sync different profiles between devices?

Today after i restarted my laptop (windows) and then I started firefox all the pinned and also the normal tabs were gone. I tried to follow different indications about restoring the previous session, but nothing showed up. All the tabs are gone.

As I need these tabs and this is obviously an issue of the software, PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP.

Is not possible that this happens every 1-2 months.

When trying to access my Tablo units via my.tablotv.com, the browser appears to see the units (or perhaps it is using prior access data, I don't know). But when selecting a Tablo unit to connect with, the result is a "continuing" message with the usual circle, but then nothing else-- neither the expected successful connection nor the usual "problem connecting" message when something is wrong. I can still access the units as usual using firefox on my Chromebook, which I presume hasn't updated Firefox the same way. These are the older Tablo units, not the different system they are selling now.

I'll attach a screenshot. I did try "repair"ing Firefox using the built in Windows functionality, but that didn't seem to change anything. I was thinking of trying to uninstall firefox and reinstall it, if you think that might work. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Stephen Hedges

gerald.r.vargas 4. Aug. 2026, 08:23 GMT-6 Hi, this morning for some reason all the tabs I had open couldn't been loaded. Refreshening the page didn't help either. So I decided to shut down and restart my laptop.

Unfortunately after restarting Firefox only one page and its tabs have been reloaded.  All the others were gone. 

After trying about:support and session:restore it didn't help either, because only the 4th of Aug. was available. Is there a possibility for a session restore from the 03rd of Aug? or the previous days? If anybody has an idea, how to do so, please let me know.

Hi, in this year I have sometimes problems with Google meet on my T480 notebook. I could not define any reason or what could be connected to this behaviour.

Start of the meeting is usually ok, but by time it starts to stutter. Video, audio and other callers stop to understand what I am saying. I have no issue with Chrome. And camera seems to be much better with Chrome. I use ocassionaly MS Teams and when I am in Firefox, it happened too. The main issue is, that it's unpredictable. It's not related to if I share the screen or not, or the others. It can be just simple call with camera off. And it happens sometimes, but often. So I learned by time to join meeting with Chrome. I tried to shut off extensions without positive result.

It is interresting, that it's working like that last several months. I started to use google meet in 2024 and it worked well all the time until this year. Hardware acceleration is on, I think I already tried to shut it off. I use ESET, that's only thing which occurs in my mind, what can be relative to this issue. But only in Firefox? Any advices?

After your security fix this morning, I discovered that I can't access my earthlink inbox. I keep getting the login page, and when I try to log in, the login page is all I get. I can, however, access my earthlink inbox on Edge. So I wonder if there was something in your security fix that is creating this problem on Firefox. How to fix this?

Pressing print/pdf button for screenshot then pick the folder destination documents then press save and what it's used for is decrease the size of the screenshot with pinching the screen then retake the screenshot of desired smaller size however for the first time it has an error in documents folder the says "can't open pdf" and then I tried the 3 dot menu in upper right corner to use an app to open it up and I went through all of them and nothing works

Seem as if you cannot change the primary email address if the address has been invalidated. What are the options here? I no longer have access to that email address. How do I change my primary address now?

Hello I am using Google Flow on my Linux PC and when going to edit scenes I get an error about a missing Codec. If I use Brave browser works fine so this makes me think this is not an OS issue but browser.

I'll be on a page, maybe Facebook, the NYTimes, Amazon, or really any site, and suddenly I find I can no longer scroll, or otherwise navigate the page. I usually have to refresh the page, not so great an option, if I was in the middle of doing something, and and then it'll work OK. I shouldn't have to be doing that, and wonder why pages will just freeze up like this.

I have my iMac synced to my phone, but every time I click on Sync another device, it keeps referring me to how to sync to my phone, which is already synced! So frustrating, as it shows me no other options! How are we supposed to sync our Firefox to other devices, beside my phone?

Firefox says that it blocked known fingerprint trackers from two sites that I really do not believe had them.

If I go back to the sites later and check, it says they have no trackers. I don't really understand how this works but if they have trackers wouldn't Firefox have to keep blocking them?
