I run Firefox on a retro Linux system that is currently running a personal "Frankenbuntu". Basically, Kubuntu 14.04 LTS with lots of components updated either "in-tree" or via a pkgsrc-like collection of "ports" installed under /opt/local that includes GTk3, Mesa, VAAPI plugins etc. I use that tree with a combination of built-in rpath settings (for apps installed under /opt/local) and wrapper scripts setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH, so as to maintain the possibility to run system apps independently, in particular while booting. (Sounds complicated, but it's also a rewarding fun project for me, allowing me to keep using an old and familiar DE with modern features on 2017 hardware,)

I have never yet dared to update my glibc from the stock 2.19, so with every Firefox update I fear to run into problems with that. I do have a 2.27 build but that is installed in another parallel prefix (/opt/glibc/2) because one cannot simply use LD_LIBRARY_PATH to use a newer glibc (I think because the ELF interpreter, ld-linux.so, has to match).

I already use patchelf with success to change the ELF interpreter to the 2.27 one, for instance with Ferdium, a Node/Electron application. This works and as far as I can tell, it will load all Mesa and DRI components from my /opt/local tree so hw-accelerated video works as it should.

The DRI module I actually need (iHD) does load but I still get the GFX abnormal shutdown error. I've tried the interpreter change in other applications using libva and don't see the issue.

Any idea why this is, and what can be done to prevent this, beyond actually updating my system glibc? I'd have no problems disabling sandboxing.

To get straight to the point, I use the website https://ingrails.com/school/. I've noticed an issue: when I try to print certain contents from this site using the Mozilla Firefox browser, the borders don't show up in the print preview and they don't print either. However, I don't face this problem with Edge, Chrome, or Opera. Why does this happen, and what is the solution?

I have attached some screenshots for reference. The screenshots showing the borders were taken from Edge, while the ones without borders are from Firefox.

I'm wondering if there is a compatibility issue with the built-in Firefox VPN and the DoH settings. I have the DNS over HTTPS set to 'custom' with the default option of Cloudfare

With the VPN turned on 1.1.1.1/help shows that I am not connected or using DoH, but the second I turn the VPN off I am connected and using DoH. It seems that the Firefox VPN uses Fastly as its DNS and not the DoH settings I selcted.

Is there a way for the VPN+DoH to work together? Admittedly I'm very new to trying to be more secure/anonymous on the internet, but I was under the impression that having both is better than one or the other.

Am I missing something?

firefox on windows 11, keeps blocking my camera and Microphone despite express permissions to allow, i look in permissions and the site is clearly marked to allow camera, but when i goto sitye, no camera or mic is allowed until i delete the permission that is supposed to allow it.

I allow my camera and mic.

I return to the site and it tells me camera and microphone blocked.

I goto0 settings>Permissions>Camera

It clearly states that the website is allowed to use the devices, but when on the website the devbices are blocked. Whats messed up is, if i delete your settings>Permissions>Camera, it allows me to use my camera and mic, until i refresh the webpage and its blocked again.

This makes zero sense and is every reason for me not to use Mozille Firefox as a browser at all.

I'm on 156.0b1 (64-bit). Since the last update the data that should appear on https://www2.commsec.com.au/portfolio/ no longer appears. The page works fine on Edge, Safari.

The rest of this site all works perfectly - it is only the data missing which is specific to my Commsec account holdings..

I can't say for certain that it was absolutely the update that's the cause - beyond my skill level - but the problem commenced from that time

Any ideas please?

I've been using the split view feature and really like it... however I constantly find myself doing the following:

Having a split view open with related pages, for example a list view in the left pane, and I want to open one of the items in the list view in the opposite pane, currently I have to:

1. Copy the url in the left pane 2. Switch to the right pane 3. Target the address bar 4. Paste the url 5. Load the new url

Ideally an additional 'open link in x' option could be added specifically when a user is in the split view, that will open the link directly in the opposite pane of the current split, so left > right or right > left.

My question is, is there is a way to do this already; I cannot find any reference to this in the docs.

"Open Link in Opposite Split View" would be perfect.

Summary When typing a multi-word search query in Bulgarian into the center search field on the Firefox New Tab page (about:newtab), the first word disappears immediately after pressing the Space key. The issue occurs only in the in-page search field. Typing exactly the same text in the Firefox address bar works correctly. Steps to reproduce

   1. Open a new tab (about:newtab).
   2. Click inside the center search field.
   3. Switch to the Bulgarian keyboard layout.
   4. Type the first word, for example:   български
   5. Press the Space key.

Actual result The first word disappears completely. The search field becomes empty and the caret remains after one blank space. Typing continues normally from the second word onward. Interestingly, pressing Ctrl+Z immediately restores the missing first word, indicating that Firefox performs an undoable edit operation rather than simply ignoring the input. Expected result The first word should remain in the search field after pressing Space. Additional observations

   • The problem does not occur when typing in the Firefox address bar.
   • The problem does not occur on google.com or in other web page input fields.
   • The problem is reproducible in:

       ◦ a brand new Firefox profile
   • No third-party extensions are installed (only the built-in OpenH264 codec is present).
   • Setting

browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.showSearch = false removes the in-page search field, therefore the issue disappears because the affected widget is no longer present.

Running Windows 11. Firefox was running at the time the hard drive crashed. When installing FF on the new drive, found the last profile folder set to parent.lock. Since it's the entire folder, I can't see which of the files in the profile were locked. I have a backup of two weeks prior (separate issue -- I was unaware my nightly backups weren't working for two weeks), but I'd like to recover the bookmark and password changes in that time.

Is there a way to get into the folder, or do I just need to accept the loss and go with the previous backup?

if I try to open an uploaded project, Firefox shows me just the "Loading"-Animation. This war reproduced on several PC's, using a clean profile and the Error-Modus (without Addons). In Firefox fpr MacOS it works.

Knows anybody the problem or can help fix it??

Firefox is saying that there is a problem with my Xfinity internet & advises me not to log in. This happens only on my mac. Firefox seems to work fine on my i pad & i phone. Safari does not show this warning & they are very strict about internet issues. how do I fix this problem?

I was creating two-factor authentication for my account and when I tried to create a passkey the only options were to use iPhone, iPad, or Android device, or Security key (see screenshot).

There's no option to add the passkey to a password manager (I'm using BitWarden).

1- Firefox shows I have windows 10. Not so. I have windows 11 home, version 25H2. This may be problem that causes the issues. 2- Since Update months ago, profiles, bookmarks and passwords disappear constantly only for me to replace manually the bookmarks and passwords to disappear over and over again. Don't need multiple profiles just one that works as in the good old days. Used it for years but cannot find help and ready to delete and just use microsoft edge. Running 154.0.1 on MacOS 26.6.1. Sometimes firefox stops working and I think I'm having an internet issue. No page able to load, not even a google search. I see the cache is full at 1gb and I clear cache for the last hour. Browser starts working again. To me, the problem doesn't seem like not enough cache capacity but the browser refusing to evict old, stale cache. How do I fix this other than manually clearing the cache? This seems like a bug that should be fixed.
