I ran into an issue with the Alpenglow extension conflicting with the Dark Mode extension.

On version 105.0.1 (It may happen on other versions, it's just that I only tested it on that version.), all of the default themes, ran into defaults where they tend to fallback to the Default Dark Theme, which, while totally usable, is not the theme I wanted. The Alpine Theme was the theme that I tested with first, but it's actually also an issue on the Light theme as well. Both themes tested were official themes that were made by Mozilla, not a third-party.

As of today ( perhaps the last update ) FireFox replaces the search text in the 'Find in page' box with my name ( perhaps my Mac account name ) when I leave the browser tab for another and then return.

It seems to happen with tabs containing locally stored html files, not with regular web pages

I could not find anything about this in the settings nor the support forum.

I mark student scripts, doc, docx and pdf, many of which are downloaded in a 2-3 day marking session. So opening the files needs to be easy and slick. But it doesn't work well any more - even worse than previously. How can I get Firefox to download and open the file automatically when clicking on the link? "They" seem to be putting barriers in the way of efficient working.

Hello,

I'm currently trying to disable the media overlay when playing audio, videos and so on. Going to about:config and setting media.hardwaremediakeys.enabled to false does indeed fix the problem, except I now can't use the buttons on my keyboard to pause and unpause.

Recap: setting media.hardwaremediakeys.enabled removes the overlay but also disables keyboard buttons to pause and unpause.

Is there a solution for this?

Firefox has been my default browser since maybe version 10. Recently I cannot sign in to a frequently used site. It is https://www.kroger.com/signin?redirectUrl=/rx/dashboard . I get the message "We're sorry, an unexpected error occurred. Please try signing in again." I can sign in on Edge and Chrome, both of which I hate. I suspect it has to do with privacy but can't pin down what.

Today is October 2, 2022. Firefox became noticeably slower about 4 to 6 weeks ago. There were problems with YAHOO! Mail, for example. It was particularly noticeable when I would be watching one YouTube video and then would click on the image/icon of a different video, trying to change to & open the new video. E.g., NBC or CBS videos, like "Jimmy Kimmel" shows, etc. A couple of days ago, I opened Windows 10(TM) Task Manager, and used "End Task" to shut off Dropbox instances. I then uninstalled Dropbox. I did that to prevent Dropbox from running in the background [and I don't need it, anyway]. That seemed to help. I have also switched to Firefox "Troubleshoot Mode" -- that seemed to help, somewhat, but not necessarily in every case.

Yesterday, there were problems opening MyADP (to view salary pay stubs) with Firefox [in regular mode]. The application just seemed to be "stuck" while trying to open the view to payment listing. So, this morning, I ran MS-Edge(TM), and MyADP opened properly and operated with no problems.
Is it possible that some MS-Windows 10(R) update is causing problems with Firefox?

Moments ago, I opened YAHOO! mail in a separate, new tab, and logged-in quickly, without a problem. I'm happy about that.

I just opened another tab, easily started the video. However, clicking on a different video's icon -- the result is that the YouTube red line only moves left to right about 2/3 of the way across the screen, and the newly-selected video does not load. Clicking repeatedly on the different video's icon seems to "clog" YouTube to the point that the message, "Connect to the internet. You are offline. Retry", appears.

So, I'm a bit puzzled. What do you suggest, please?

  Thank You in Advance,

Dave
