Is there any way to turn off the button "Open video in a new tab" that appears when you hover on an Instagram video? This button is blocking a button from an extension that I want to use.

Is it possible for Mozilla to add a setting to Firefox that blocks .zip and .mov links from ever opening even if clicked on since a big part of the .zip links are being used to infect computers with malware

Hi there I love FireFox, after years of others recommending, I finally switched and really appreciate so many great features (automatic downloads not at all though). Anyways, I have a Tivo with in house and out of house streaming to Watch Tivo web app and Tivo android app. Until recently, was able to stream anything from Tivo Box throughout house. Android app works awesome, but no longer working on FireFox (or Edge & Chrome) Research shows this is due to a change in website security which is maybe similar to FF issue?

Chrome offered advance warning/remedy..as detailed below....

I am hoping FF team can rise to the challenge and get tivo online working again for the millions of us who still use and love our Tivos.  Or maybe another Tivo fan has a workaround they can share? Access to XMLHttpRequest at 'http://(MYIP):49152/sysinfo/json/svcinfo' from origin 'http://online.tivo.com' has been blocked by CORS policy: The request client is not a secure context and the resource is in more-private address space `private`.

After researching that i found this link Chrome CORS error on request to localhost dev server from remote site

it went into a bit about how "Chrome has implemented CORS-RFC1918, which prevents public network resources from requesting private-network resources - unless the public-network resource is secure (HTTPS) and the private-network resource provides appropriate (yet-undefined) CORS headers."

So basically a public network "online.tivo.com" cannot access my local network (where my tivo is) due to this new CORS-RFC1918 standard.

The is a fix to disable this behavior for now chrome://flags/#block-insecure-private-network-requests

Often when I click on links that take me to video's Foxfire will not launch the video. It stalls and takes forever to load or it does not load at all. I am finding that with more sites as time goes on. Google photos also won't load in a timely manner BUT of I change to Chrome everything loads quickly. This didn't use to be a problem but now is, any solutions out there.

Storage seem to be broken in general, although the problem has morphed with my bad troubleshooting attempts. This problem started ~last week (or ~two months after I switched OS from Windows to Garuda Linux, a variant of Arch) and has progressively gotten worse.

Initial problem: Privacy Badger errors and says storage is broken. Putting `navigator.storage.estimate()` into PB's extension console leads to a quota of a large number, and a usage of 0. Pandora.com then logs me out, and doesn't allow me to log back in. Console reveals it's an indexedDB problem about storage quotas. Many websites are forgetting tokens - I'll log in, and then 15 minutes later, log in again. This happened on Discord, Fastmail, and this support forum (in fact, I couldn't log in on Firefox here. Had to use Chromium). Bitwarden's extension also errors, although this one doesn't directly mention storage and instead says that the sync is out of date directly after syncing. Alright. (If I had to guess, the sync process no longer can write to storage so it's stuck with an old sync).

OK, this is odd. I load back the profile directory I still have saved from the last machine. Still symptomatic. Maybe it's a permissions problem? I run `chmod -R 777 ~/.mozilla/firefox` and relaunch. Still symptomatic. I nuke my firefox directory entirely, reinstall firefox (switching to For Developers) in the process, reimport my bookmarks, and run chmod again. Still symptomatic. Alright.

Maybe it's a problem with my extensions. I really, really doubt that, but maybe. I restart into troubleshooting mode. The problem still exists, but when I go back my bookmarks and extensions are gone.

Problem as it stands now: Pandora.com still logs me out, but I can log back in. Sometimes. It just doesn't remember when I relaunch firefox. Along the way at some point, visiting about:support now shows nothing. As in, when I press "copy text to clipboard" this is the report I get back:

I see the error of "database or disk is full" - however, my disk is new (6 months old) and is literally 95% free space (see attached screenshot). I'm out of ideas, so hopefully someone else has more.

Every few days I get a notification that Firefox will be quitting in 120 minutes. However, there is no option to tell Firefox not to do this. I checked my settings and couldn't find anything about this either. My settings also say that my version of Firefox is up to date, so Firefox is not restarting for an update. Is this happening for other people? How do I tell Firefox not to quit without my permission?

Following a recent update (May 25th, 2023) I have lost all my notes. I know Mozilla does not monitor the Notes extension actively and the corresponding Github repo is archived (https://github.com/mozilla/notes).

Mozilla also notified the users about the decision to discontinue this service: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1328311.

However, I found the "Notes add-on" useful, and kept using it. Finally with a sudden update in late May 2023, I have lost all my past notes. While searching for possible solutions for the data recovery, I came to find the following solution by " jscher2000".

For anyone with similar issue I am describing below what worked for me. Following the suggestion by "jscher2000" I first generated the "Old Firefox Data" folder on my desktop. This is how I did that: From the Firefox browser window, click on Help -> More Troubleshooting Information -> Refresh Firefox and follow the instructions.

After creating the "Old Firefox Data" folder you will be able to see one, or multiple, "profile folders" therein. On my system I was able to see multiple "profile folders".

Next, type "about:profiles" in the URL space of a Firefox browser. I saw only a single profile (the default profile) on my screen that followed. Next, you need to "create a new profile" and point the system to one of the "profile folders" inside "Old Firefox Data" folder. Lastly, hit the "Launch profile in a new browser". If you can not see your old notes, try with another profile folder inside "Old Firefox Data" folder.

This is what worked for me (Mac OS). If there is any better solution please suggest that.

I just went to one of my email folders in Googlemail and it was empty. When I began to check the other folders they are all empty as well, but on Google Chrome and on my phone all the messages are there. Why are they not there in Firefox? Can I get them back?

This problem has just resurfaced. In a nutshell, when I type "Lost IMDb" or "Tyson Wiki" in the URL bar and hit enter, that would take me straight to that page of that site. So "Lost IMDb" and enter would take me here: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0411008/

Now it takes me to random search results like so: https://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=lost+imdb

Similar to "I'm feeling lucky" Google search is what I want back. When FF got rid of "Keyword.URL" search, I had to use an add-on such as: Google Browse by Name search engine to get similar results. Now also that has stopped working lately.

Can anyone help me get that type of search result back please?

My Linux/Computer guru passed away 5 years ago I have been using Firefox Quantum 57. 0.4 64 bit for Linux Mint 1.0 but am finding sites I need to access won't open or if they open can't use the functions there. I know nothing about computers and I have not been able to find a tech to take my desktop to to get it updated. I am afraid to update because computer is currently set up with protections so I can do banking etc.. but soon I won't be able to access that. I dont have the split screen where you see the email header on top and the message beneath. So when I click on an incoming email, it doesn't show me the message unless I double-click it.

os = ubuntu 22.04 - 5.19.0-42-generic Mozilla Firefox 103.0.1 I am attempting to connect to a proxy that does not require a username and password, yet moz-proxy is continually asking for one. If I put any input in the prompts, it goes away, but if the machine is rebooted, the prompts begin again. How do I permanently stop firefox from asking for the username and password?

My problems with FireFox 113.0.2 started when I began to download some Affinity V2 videos. Some of these were rather large (over 500MB) and I noticed that several were being downloaded at the same time (which was no surprise). However, after sometime I noticed that only one of the videos was completely downloaded and the others were just stopped. Then, when I looked at the task manager the number of FireFox instances was increasing: ...,5,6,...18,..

Of course, I thought I could fix the download process but all my efforts failed; e.g. after a restart of windows and execution of FireFox the same videos were still in a "hold" state and many instances of FireFox were being executed. After a frustating night of failures I finally decided to restore an older FireFox using my Acronis backup/recovery software. My last Aronis backup of my entire system was made on 2023/04/07 with the most recent version of FireFox at the time which worked fine when downloading several large video files at the same time.

I only included the C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox' in the restore since I have installed a rather large number of new apps and updates after 2023/04/07. This also failed -- my add-ons, bookmarks, etc. in this restored version were all missing and before I could stop the recovery process, the restored FireFox was updated to the latest as of today (2023/06/01). And of course the problem had not be fixed.

So finally to my request: What directories, files do I need to restore, from the 2023/04/27 backup with all of its features at that time -- this is important, and how do I stop it from upgrading to a newer version?

When I open emails many times the letters are gibberish. The letters are changed into symbols and weird looking letters. Sometimes closing Firefox and reopening helps, but usually I have to restart my computer. Even then, it may or may not be readable. Some emails are only partially this way, but most are complete gibberish. Has been happening for a few months. I have updated Firefox and am running the newest update. I am using Microsoft 365 email. Other computers in the same office do not have this issue. Any ideas how to fix this?
