Opening PDFs automatically with Firefox and, without any changes I might make, saving them with the download function in Firefox, actually ruins the functionality and data entry function of that file. Specifically this happens with PDF files downloaded from the (not all that amusing) PDFs from the FINCEN, (US Financial Crimes Enforcement Network). I do not see why and how Firefox thinks it is allowed to change files that are simply downloaded and saved on Firefox.

In other words, it seems that Firefox strips away certain "permissions" and/or "functions" (like built-in lookup, menu or choice boxes). This means that the file so downloaded via Firefox can no longer be used to properly fill in data, or to look up and choose data items within the file. (I see many times that ANYTHING having to do with "permissions" tends to be an intractable and unsolvable problem for software makers & experts, so, if you do not know right away how to solve the problem, it will probably take you several years to figure this out.)

The PDF in question is created by a government agency. If you have ever dealt with a government agency, then you know that they act sort of like Adobe or Microsoft: "They don't respond, or they do respond & say they do not understand, and if they understand, they are either unwilling or unable to fix the problem."

If there is a switch or option within Firefox, which lets me tell Firefox "Save this file exactly like it is received, nothing added or removed!", that would be nice. I just have not found such an option yet, and it would be nice if it might get provided someday.

I will share my browser data, but I am sort of convinced that a detailed question like mine will not be addressed within that shared data.

I am getting messages that I am blocking ads for many of my internet requests. I had never received these before but all of a sudden I started to get them. I have tried a number of things but nothing works.

I am running Windows 11 and do not have any Ad blockers.

My Macbook wasn't responding, so I restarted it and force quit all applications. When I opened Firefox again, none of my bookmarks showed on my bookmarks bar. The bar itself is not hidden. I checked to make sure I have the same profile I always use open and I do. I also tried to go into Bookmarks, Manage Bookmarks, Import, but nothing is available to import.

I used to be synced across two laptops and my iphone but no longer. I am signed in to my Firefox account on my Windows 10 laptop and on my iphone. The windows 10 laptop indicates that I am also signed in on my Windows 11 laptop, but when I run Firefox on my Windows 11 laptop, it indicates that I am signed out. When I attempt to sign in (on the Windows 11 machine), I get an "unexpected error" flag and I cannot sign in.

How can I fix this?

Ok, for some stupid reason, sometime in the past month or two, I think one of your updates completely incapacitated my ability to paste images into sites that allow me to paste images, such as chat gpt or search engines. This is terribly inconvenient and annoying. Please either fix it or tell me what setting in your mess of settings fixes it

video downloadhelper is not saving the videos to vdhelper folder any longer. how do I change the folder location for only the video downloadhelper. its going straight to download folder.

Whenever I try and access the UGC cinema site - showing latest movies in various locations - the opening page gets blocked straightaway upon opening: my screen turns dim, I cannot select either latest movies or cinema hall where a given movies is shown... I cannot do anything. The mouse refuses to click anywhere .. Strangely when I open the same site , namely https://www.ugc.fr/ , with another net provider: either Opera or Microsoft Edge, I do not have any problem ... Why does this site work OK with Opera or Microsft Edge and not with Firefox ??? I get no warning or error message from Firefox either, nor from my Antivirus ... A real puzzle. I'm wondering if I am experiencing intended behavior or if I've stumbled upon a bug. I am sometimes downloading files in a staggered manner (i.e., waiting for files to finish downloading before I start the next file downloads). However, any file after the first in that session shows an inaccurate progress indicator in the toolbar which includes progress of the already completed downloads.

For example, if I download two files completely, then start the download of two new files and both sit at 0%, the progress bar for the downloads actually shows 50% completed (2 files at 100%, 2 files at 0% -> Average of 4 files at 50%). I can't imagine this is intended behavior, for I imagine users would like to know how their current downloads are progressing only. This behavior is only fixed when I clear previous downloads, which resets the list to only active downloads, or when I restart the browser and start a new session.

Is there a setting where I can make the indicator report only active downloads?

I do web development and find that Update Available popup to be a real hassle as I am constantly reloading my browser to view edits.

How do I disable that annoying beg notice from making my life miserable?

Not sure if this is a Linux or Firefox issue, but here goes. In the past when uploading pictures for instance in Gmail I got a menu showing places EG pictures, video's etc. Example - home - pictures- cats - black cats - list of jpg's, click attach. When attaching another pic from the same folder etc it used to default to the same folder location with the list of jpg's.

With the last few FF updates that isn't the case any more, when next attaching a pic file I now have to start again from scratch EG home, pics, cats, black cats instead of click attach straight to list of jpg's in back cats.

Is there anyway I can configure FF back to the old setting please?

Hello, First my Q, then a comment. My bookmarks all show the same date. I can't find what I was going to use for work today because I can't find it in the bookmarks. This has happened frequently, more than not. Please help. On another note, I had said the YouTube commercial blocking wasn't working, but it is now on my Mac OS after changing some settings. Now I'd like to do that on my iphone 11 if possible. I can't seem to open settings the same way. Thank you.

If I have two or more tabs open it happens very often that all tabs which are not in use are closed independently by the browser. At the same time Firefox independently creates bookmarks from some closed tabs in the bookmark toolbar. I always use the latest version of the brwoser and no extensions. I would be grateful for a solution. Thanks!
