Sometimes when starting Firefox ("developer edition", running on Ubuntu 20.04, Gnome shell, X11 windowing system) it appears 80% full screen -ish, but actually the window is full screen size - you just can't see it. It flashes really fast, and doesn't repaint correctly. It's very hard to get rid of it as you're never sure what you're clicking on.

Restarting it a few times and I get lucky and it works. I think this problem has gotten worse over the last few months.

I believe it might be something to do with the anti fingerprinting, but I'm not sure. It's making it unusable for several friends, but I'm a bit more stubborn so I'm looking for a fix.

After the automatic update to version 98, I'm finding that Firefox insists on putting a copy of my downloaded files into the Download file even after I turned that off in the General tab of Settings. Also found it odd that I was unable to take a screenshot of these settings, but had to use Printscreen to do so!

Normally when I click on a pdf file in my email there are four choice Preview Save To One Drive Download And open with Firefox But as of last night the last option has vanished. I know there are some work arounds but I really need to get this option back as I work with medical documents and needs to open multiple tabs quickly and be able to copy the name of the documents something I can not do if I open with one drive.

I can't open any WordOnline documents from OneDrive/Sharepoint on Firefox. I click on the document, a new tab open, but then the doc itself doesn't load.

I am running the most recent version of Firefox (98.4 64 bit) on an iMac running Catalina 10.15.7 (19H1715)

I don't have the same problem on my Windows machine.

(Note: I was able to access the same document using Safari)

Any ideas?

When I download an attachment from my emails, why does it automatically download to my desktop when it opens? I think it all started when I did an update with Firefox? So all the attachments that I opened up all week are on my desktop, and I did not realize it :( I usually click on the arrow on the attachment I open it up in Adobe Reader, then if I want to save it to

the desktop, I do Save As.

I went to settings tried everything still on the desktop. Please tell me what to change, PLEASE!

I use "always ask" for mp4 files in gmail - it used to work fine, but now it opens file if I select MS Media player AND IT SAVES the blasted file to my Downloads as well ! ....which I don't want it to do.

I get a "Secure connection failed" message when I try to log into Fox News, NewsMax, Western Journal, YouTube, NRA, etc. It only does it on this computer, my laptop. I don't get these messages on my desk top, or my home lap top. What is going on?!

Hi all, I need to edit my Gmail mailto link to have a "/u/1" within it, because my default mailbox is not the one I want to be emailing from when I click a mailto link, but the URL within the settings menu is locked for editing. Is there an INI file or some sort of command line edit I can make please? I have another mailto link saved within Firefox that I need to use occassionaly so I can't use any solution that locks me to Gmail. Thanks in advance.

Is there any way to cap Youtube bandwidth/resolution, including through add-ons or even indirectly through add-ons that require to download additional file or paste text in?

I have a monthly bandwidth cap and I try to keep watching Youtube at 480p but sometimes it's higher; I get annoyed when it's 720p and panic when it's >= 1080p. Sometimes there's numerous 480p videos in a row so I stop looking at the cog for the red HD indicator, then realize a video has been guzzling my limited bandwidth.

I recently discovered that even though Firefox is supposed to save files, I chose to either "Open in Firefox" (.pdf, .pptx, etc.) or "Open in <any application>" (.avi, .mp4 in VLC...) in temp folder, it no longer does so. All pdf-s and other files I try to open in Firefox end up in my downloads folder, which is annoying as I now have to clean it manually. This never happened to me before, and I would like to have this behavior back.

About 2 weeks ago this problem began. It seems to coincide with a Firefox update. Prior to this, when I would download a file Firefox would open it with the correct program (Word, Excel, Adobe). Now Firefox tries to open all files with Adobe and I receive an error message from Adobe that the file type is either not supported or has been damaged. I happen to know these files are either Word or Excel sent to me by my work. I have been through the help to change the program used, reset it, etc. Nothing has worked. Please help! I cannot perform my work without these files. How do I tell Firefox what program to use to open these files?

I am trying to view the ICD-11 (International Classification of Diseases 11th Revision) in my Firefox web browser however the website is not loading properly or, more likely, is loading in a way that prevents/restricts proper access.

The website works when loaded in Microsoft Edge and displays a left side window with the contents of the ICD-11 classifications. The ICD-11 search bar also works and displays the results of the search in the left side window. Neither of these things occur when using Firefox.

I have limited 'tech skills' when it comes to this, any help would be much appreciated.

Until recently, when I would capture a PCAP file from a device through the web GUI, I would be able to click on the PCAP (packet capture) file and it would open the file in Wireshark. As of this week, it stopped doing that and now only allows me to save the file and I need to look for the file and double click on it to open the file. I lose a lot of time doing that. Looked at the mime types already installed but there is no pcap to allow me to associate with Wireshark. I am running macOS Monte Rey on an M1 platform. I was working fine before.

I have downloaded and installed the latest version of Firefox, but if I try to set it as the default Web Browser I just get an error box which says:

"Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To use Firefox, you must first close the existing Firefox process, restart your device, or use a different profile."
