When I am on USCIS.gov, if I click some links, I get "502 Bad Gateway" error. I then have to switch to use Chrome. I've had issues with Firefox also when trying to get help at quickbooks. I have to switch to Chrome for that as well. It's a nuisance. How do I fix it? I'd rather use Firefox but I have less problems with Chrome. However all my bookmarks and browser bar links are on Firefox which is why I would rather stay with Firefox.

Hi, I'm a big fan of dark mode and avoiding bright screens. When Chrome begins to load an image slowly, generally it has a transparent background. Is there a way to remove this white loading screen in Firefox and make it transparent, or at least make it black or something? Having a big white block show up on screen is bad for your eyes. Thanks.

Hello All,

On my Laptop I run Firefox and Ivanti VPN for Customer stuff.

I configured Firefox to use the Windows Network (so proxy) configuration.

When i start the Laptop, so no VPN enabled, and open Firefox. all good and fine.

I enable VPN, Firefox does not load any page, other Browser do. My manual workaround is now, to open the Firefox cofniguration, goto the Proxy settings. Then disable Proxy config, close the Proxy config, go back in and select System defaults. I found online, that this is an old bug and my co worker do not encounter this.

My Firefox has version 119.0.1 (64-Bit)

Thank you in advance.

Profiles Directory in Windows 11 points to the "wrong" location

I installed the Firefox browser (version 113.0.2 (64-bit)) onto a new PC running Windows 11. When attempting to clean up the Firefox cache with another utility, I noticed that the amount of space recovered was much smaller than expected. When I tried to check my profile using the Troubleshooting Information page (to open the folder) I received a message that the location was not available. I double checked with Windows Explorer and this was the case. Searching for "cache2" in Explorer located the folder/directory in a different location.

The Firefox Profile Folder should be in this location, according to Firefox's Troubleshooting Information page (anonymized information in square brackets):

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[character string 1].[profile name]

The best I can tell, the actual Profile Folder created in Windows 11 is located here:

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Packages\Mozilla.Firefox_[character string 2]\LocalCache\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[character string 1].[profile name]

The cache folder for the profile is located here:

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Packages\Mozilla.Firefox_[character string 2]\LocalCache\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[character string 1].[profile name]\cache2\entries

I am not sure if this situation is unique to me, or if this is a common occurrence with Windows 11.

The use of the Packages folder may be the result of installing an application that is not fully "Windows 11-native" or it may just be the new way Windows deals with some applications. I am not sure if the data in character string 2 is consistent, or if it is a unique string created by Windows when Firefox was installed.

If I go to the Settings and clear data, the folder that is a sub-folder of Packages is cleared, so Firefox "knows" where the data is, but the Troubleshooting Information page is confused.

If this is a common occurrence, a tweak to this page in a future release would be helpful. If it is a rare occurrence, a help article may be, well, helpful.

Thanks.

I have been receiving the following error code 'PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR' on several website on my Firefox browser. Sometime, not all the time, I get the same error message while trying to use YouTube, while other times the site loads but says that I am offline and no internet connection. I have done all of the fixes that they say to use online and nothing seems to work. YouTube will occasionally work but none of the thumbnails will show up. Then there are other site that work fine.

To problem with same thing. Address-bar work as search-engine I have poor eyesight and have enlarge the browser, and then I type in the search-bar, the the typing move to the little bar on the top, so I can not see what I have typed.

Another problem I have is when I will reach local-servers with Ip-number and the "address-bar" being a search-engine and I get a lot of hit on http;//10.0.0.1 and I cant reach the web-server.

Is it possible to fix that I get a real address-bar and a real enlarged search-bar?

How do I get rid of the bookmark tabs on the top. Only 1 of 3 computers has this, and I'm sure its slowing down my computer browsing. I am replying to a request for screen shots. As requested, I tried to take a SS using FF When I tried to take the screen shot using FF I get an error saying something went haywire. These are from snip it. I have looked every where to shut this off. There can be as many as 30 tabs open at a time. Is the answer going to be remove and reinstall? If so how would I save all the bookmarks. Thanks for the help.

Ever since I downloaded the latest update on Firefox a couple of days ago, I have been unable to reach the internet. The program opens but doesn't show my opening screen and I can't get to any URL. At the bottom left of the screen, there is a message showing: Transferring data from . . . whatever site I was trying to access. The following message shows on the screen:

"Gah. Your tab just crashed. We can help! Choose Restore This Tab or Restore All Crashed Tabs to reload the page/pages."

When I click on Restore, the screen goes white for a few seconds and then the same message comes back. I downloaded the Mozilla software again but nothing has changed and I'm still getting the same messages. What can I do to not lose my bookmarks, etc.

I have had a really consistent experience on Firefox for Ubuntu (120.0 (64-bit)):

  • I open a google doc and choose "Download > PDF"
  • Google Docs pops the PDF open in a new tab. The location is my own file system, eg. `file:///home/amanda/Downloads/whatever.docx.pdf`
  • I use ctrl-s to save the PDF to a more suitable folder
  • Firefox starts spawning dialog boxes. The black border around the dialog box just grows for a while. I can't even tell if clicking "cancel" is actually doing anything because maybe it is closing the dialog and revealing the one below.
  • The only solution is to quit Firefox entirely.

It seems to also happen if I print from Google Docs or just use the finder to open a PDF directly in Firefox: using ctrl-s to save starts it spawning infinite "Save" dialogs.

Obviously, I can avoid this by using the OS file manager to move the PDF to a more suitable location but it would be really nice to not have to keep track of that.

I'm using Firefox 113.0.2. I want to export my logins and passwords, but when I click the 'export' option, a Windows Security window opens asking for my Windows login. I don't have a Windows login set (no one else has access to my PC).

According to Firefox's own info, if you don't have a Windows password, the dialog asking for one shouldn't pop up.

I can't get past this and I've googled everything in sight. Does anyone else have a solution to this?

Thank you! Averill
