I have a problem that I have already found threads that list both the issue and the fix, but they are pretty ludicrous.

If you care about privacy and security and enable the about:config privacy.resistFingerprinting option, Firefox then refuses to remember window size and position between startups.

So rather than block Firefoxes SENDING of window position during fingerprinting attempts, they just turn off the ability for it to store window size and positions entirely. This is idiotic and almost seems to be malicious to the point of trying to aggravate users into not taking their privacy seriously. It is either malicious in an attempt to aggravate you into not worrying about your privacy or lazy programming, one of the two.

Should this be reported as a bug or what even though it seems to be functioning as intended, however idiotic that may be.

When features are blocked for privacy sake, the features and functionality themselves should never be disabled. Only refusing to send the data back out when fingerprint requests happen.

I'm facing speed differences between Chromium and Firefox. I checked all the hints how to speed up FF, nothing helped. I also de-installed FF complete (linux Mint) and reinstalled with new settings (initially raw system only) but difference between Chromium and FF is still given, FF appr. 130 MBit/s download and 150 upload, Chromium 190 -200 down, same for up. Checked with OOKLA, same server, repeated checks over 5 days. I have a 200MBit/s FTTH connection

This is a problem I never had a possible solution for.

I would like to have Youtube Music in a separate (pinned) tab, but in the same window as everything else.

The problem I have stems from youtube/google: I have 2 youtube accounts - once under my username, and one under my real name, and I don't remember how I ended up with that. I normally only use the account with my username and the "real name" account is mostly unused. But when migrating from Google Play Music, youtube decided to force me to use the "real name" account for that, and that's what I'm stuck with now.

So I would like to have youtube music, which need to be on account #2 open, whhile all other tabs are on google account #1. And when on the same profile, this is simply not possible. Switching account on one tab switches it for all others.

Is it possible to do that without a separate window open just for youtube music?

There are 2 ways to copy-paste in Linux. The traditional ctrl+c/ctrl+v, which copies the selection to clipboard. There is another way that automatically copies the selected text to X primary register (without pressing any other buttons).

The second mode (copying to X primary), no longer works for me. How can I fix it? (The feature works on other GTK apps)

A Jupyter Notebook that I already had up, stopped being able load following a forced FireFox restart following an update. I closed the server and tried again. I can load the main Jupyter directory page, but when I launch the notebook, the tab opens, but the Jupyter window frame remains empty. I can open this notebook under Chrome and have switched to Chrome for now. The notebook is pretty basic and is not doing anything fancy with graphics or anything like that. The imports are:

import sys, io import math import matplotlib.pyplot as plt import numpy as np import pandas as pd from scipy.optimize import nnls from fractions import Fraction

Just a couple days ago a new window would open on top of my current windows. This is how I would like firefox to work but for some reason today my windows started opening up below whatever Firefox window I have open and I get a desktop notification saying the Firefox private window is ready. I just want the new window to open automatically in front of everything else. Any help is appreciated!

  • Edit* It stopped by itself. I just closed out of Firefox a couple times because I was doing something and I checked again and it's not doing this anymore.

How can I find why is it being displayed like that? or how can I restore its default display?

How to Remove HSTS from URL Test Server Url in Browser?

I have a prod server (example.com) and local vbox vm test server (test.example.com), both running nextcloud. I am developing using Ubuntu Mozilla Firefox 89.0.2

The test server uses example.com, but has a domain alias test.example.com, that I use to differentiate between test and prod when working.

I accidentally added the following HSTS apache2 directive to my test server:

   <IfModule mod_headers.c>
     Header always set Strict-Transport-Security "max-age=15552000; includeSubDomains"
   </IfModule>

The net result, is that I can't open the test nextcloud site and the prod nextcloud simultaneously in my browser because `test.example.com` will suddenly switch to `https://test.example.com` and lock me out.

I have researched and tried all multiple different methods to remove HSTS from test url, which are:

1.) The "Forget About This Website" method via the firefox browser history for both test.example.com and example.com

2.) I tried deleting "Site Preferences", using "Everything" as the time period, under Privacy & Security Settings (I went to the max and deleted cache, cookies, browser history, -everything-)

3.) I edited "SiteSecurityServiceState.txt" located in my browser profile folder.

4.) I also used about:config and switched `security.mixed_content.block_display_content` from "false" to "true"

5.) I also made the file `SiteSecurityServiceState.txt` as to to completely HSTS in the browser, yet the problem still persists. (even tried deleting it)

5.) Also, in my `/var/www/config/config.php` for nextcloud, I have also edited the trusted domains section as follows:

   'trusted_domains' =>
     array (
     0 => 'test.example.com',
       ),

All of this has failed to permanently correct the problem. I might be able to access test.example.com for a short period of time, but if prod server example.com is opened the problematic `https://test.example.com` returns.

And FYI, `https://hstspreload.org/?domain=example.com` still shows:

   Warning: Unnecessary HSTS header over HTTP
The HTTP page at http://example.com sends an HSTS header. This has no effect over HTTP, and should be removed.

  1. The First Image is of the URL bar. If you look closely, some of the parts are chipped.
  2. The Second Image is of a Button. It's chipped in all sides.
  3. The Third Image is a string of dots and hyphens that I've selected with my cursor. It's weirdly torn in the middle.

The Issue is on both Firefox Developer Edition and the normal Firefox. Both are the latest versions. Both are installed on my OS.

I'm on Parrot OS 4.11. I've tried changing the window compositor which is Metacity(Marco) but that doesn't solve the issue. Kernel is 5.10.0-6parrot1-amd64. I'm running on integrated graphics. No third-party graphics driver.

I have Ubuntu installed too and the problem isn't there in Ubuntu. So It's in Parrot. I heavily use Firefox for Web Surfing and Development.

All of them are fresh installs from the official website.

I'm not sure if the two are interlinked, but I 'clear data' every now and again.

However, I've noticed that this time, I was unable to clear the 10kb of data under 'cached web content'. I've tried shutting down and restarting to no avail.

I've eventually resorted to removing the profile folder under App Data, but is there anything I should be concerned about?

To my understanding, the redirection to guce.yahoo.com when trying to log in to my mail isn't malicious. It took me to an error page citing security, but I understand this is expected if ad-blockers are on. I'm set on 'never remember history'.

Is this all just coincidental? Encountering guce and unable to clear cached web content? Anywhere else I need to check / remove?

Hi, some shortcuts are so generally known and used everywhere and the fact that Firefox intercepts them changing their behavior may be confusing. Let's take Control B for example: it is generally used (e.g. by every online editor or composer, like Gmail ) to set a bold font at the selected text. In Firefox this triggers instead opening bookmarks list, which is highly confusing. Shouldn't this shortcut be disabled by default? Or at least create an extremely evident (e.g. in the welcome page after install) way to disable it. Thank you

Some have reported that the 90.0 update has messed with the Menu Bar text colour. In the "Dark" theme, the tabs are black, the Menu Bar is black and the Menu Bar text is black. I can confirm this on Linux Mint 20.1 and Win 10 21H1. I Also confirmed it to be working correctly on ver 89 for both Mint and Win. I also confirmed that the update for ver 89 turned on automatic updates for Firefox (Linux and Win) without notifiying me that it was changing my settings and ver 90 appears to no longer allow user control of updates.

Also, About Mozilla Firefox, Ver 90.0 (64-bit), says it's for Linux Mint 1.0 Is it possible that this is the reason the Menu Bar is messed-up in the Dark Theme?

So you have to click as if the window would be over the full display height, but it starts lower.

Clicking on windowed, does correct the problem, then you can maximize again (Which also works)
