In the good old days of Dial-up/Serial Comms links, and even today with Telnet, it's possible to get the Terminal to send periodic "no-ops" to the far end to keep the session open/ stop it from timing out with extended gaps between activity. Is it possible to get Firefox to do this too please? I wounder if it's possible to send some form of periodic auto-mouseclick in a set area of the webpage? I'm not looking to circumvent lack of activity session termination entirely as I only want to arrange a slightly prolong the gap.

When downloading pdf, html and other files I recently started getting an "Executable files may contain viruses or other malicious code" warning. This is annoying and definitely nothing I didn't know. Besides, many of these files were written by me, so this simply represents an additional annoyance in my workflow. How do I permanently disable this behavior?

Now, however when completing the steps the Search window is reduced considerably (see attached). How to get the URL and Search portions more or less equal?

I've downloaded he Mozilla Containers add-on, however it's missing from the top right. It is enabled and I've tried reinstalling it, but nothing works. I will say that when I go to 'options' I see, "An extension, Firefox Multi-Account Containers, requires Container Tabs."

Edit: I did try pressing cntrl+. to use the shortcut, but that didn't work either.

I really love the new picture-in-picture option. It's especially helpful when I only have one monitor. There are a couple of rough-edges I'd like to see tweaked.

1. I resize these windows all the time to put them where they'll fit when I'm doing something else, and it can finicky to resize the window quickly. It would be helpful if the areas you can grab the edges and corners of were exaggerated. For example, if when the user's mouse is near an edge or corner of the picture-in-picture window a handle pops-up around the given area that's larger than the 1pixal-ish default handle area. I've seen similar functionality in the art program GIMP for selection boxes.

2. The way the window acts when being resized isn't very intuitive. The corners work as expected, but since the corner areas are so small I often grab the sides and that can get frustrating. I now know that when grabbing the Bight and Bottom sides of the window the Top-Left corner is anchored while resizing. Similarly, when grabbing the Left and Top sides of the window the Bottom-Right corner is anchored. That seems pretty intuitive when I type it out, what's the issue? Well, the problem comes when you are grabbing the window near the corners. If for example, I'm trying to grab the window by the Bottom-Left corner and miss (which I've done plenty) and grab the Bottom of the window. Now when I resize the window is anchored in the Top-Left instead of the Top-Right, which is the opposite of what I wanted and leads to some confusion and repositioning. What I would suggest, separate from the #1 solution, would be to break the sides of the window into three areas: Near-corner 1, Center, and Near-corner 2. When grabbing the window on the edge in one of the Near-corner areas, anchor the window at the opposite corner. When grabbing by the center of an edge anchor the window by the opposite center.

Thank you for reading my long suggestion. I hope you don't find this to be a negative interaction. I truly enjoy Firefox, and I've very excited about your new Picture-in-picture feature. I hope you understand that this level of nit-picking can only come from a place of love!

P.S: I'm very pleased to say that I did not include a third issue I had with the Spacebar Play/Pause functionality not working unless the Play button was the last object clicked on the window, because in the latest update it was gone! I want to thank whomever worked on that and let them know, someone did notice, and they appreciate it! <3 <3

I went through the steps to disable the awesomebar with build 75 when it was rolled out. While I get what you're trying to do with the feature, it's distracting and just not needed. 77.0.1 update has undone those changes.

How do I disable this stupid thing now? Why is there not a toggle in the settings for this?

How do I change the X-Frames-Policy so that my password change will be accepted and allow me to log in?

Multi-Account Container Tabs extension confusion

For a while now, I have been using the OneTab extension for organizing my many browser tabs. I'm not entirely satisfied with it, so I went looking for something else. Multi-Account Container Tabs sounded more like what I needed. But it isn't turning out that way.

I've created my containers -- after deciding on the order I want, as you cannot (apparently) rearrange them once created. But none of the instructions are quite clear on how to now assign all my favorite tabs to the correct containers. The instructions posted by Mozilla talk about sending links from pages but not so much about assigning specific tabs to containers.

I have managed to do this by accident once or twice; no idea how. But for the most part, even though I select the option to "reopen in [name] container," and even though it appears to do so (in that it duplicates the tab and puts a color-coded line at the bottom of the tab), as soon as I close the tab, it is no longer listed under that container. Also, it seems only sporadically to retain the pinned tabs as pinned.

This whole process seems to be pointless if the extension can't retain the tabs in the containers where I reopen them (which is the only method I've seen so far to get them into a specific container) so that they can be pulled up again when that group is needed. I must be missing something. Could other extensions be interfering? (My context menu doesn't look quite like the images in the instructions, but at least the "reopen in [name} container" is an available option, even if I have to go an extra step to get to the actual list of containers.

I don't mind going the extra step and can clear up my context menu later; but why bother using this extension if the containers can't retain the web site tabs I assign them to (again, assuming that "reopening" to a specific container is the way to do this ... and maybe it isn't, but I can't find another way)? NOTE: I don't want to simply assign random links to containers; I want my specific TABS to open when I choose a container.

Again, I've read the instructions provided by Mozilla. Either 1) they aren't clear enough, 2) this extension doesn't do what I thought it did, or 3) I am missing something big-time.

Any help would be appreciated. My tabs are now all messed up and duplicated several times. It's a wonder I have any RAM left at all.

Hi everyone,

I am having trouble getting my custom new tab page to be focused when opened (instead of the address bar).

I am currently using the `autoconfig.js` + `mozilla.cfg` approach to overriding the `AboutNewTab.jsm` service with a custom local file. This is working great with the two files containing this code:

autoconfig.js: ``` pref("general.config.filename", "mozilla.cfg"); pref("general.config.obscure_value", 0); ```

mozilla.cfg: ``` // Custom firefox config

let { classes:Cc, interfaces:Ci, utils:Cu } = Components;

try {

 Cu.import("resource:///modules/AboutNewTab.jsm");
 let newTabURL = "file:///home/vallode/Documents/test/index.html";
 AboutNewTab.newTabURL = newTabURL;

} catch(e) { Cu.reportError(e); } ```

I have been attempting to use the `gBrowser` global to add an event listener to the new tab opening, but with no success. Could anyone point me in the right direction for something like this?
