bold textI do not remember ever having a Mozilla master password. Because I do not remember having a master password I do not have a recovery key. How can I find these if they do in fact exist/

After the last system update, I now am being asked to enter my "Primary password", every time I open a new page. When I try entering a password , it is not recognized and I have to click on cancel in order to proceed. I have used what I recall was my password but it is recognized, but I don't get a message telling me it is the wrong password. How can I get back to the previous version that did not ask for my Password. Is that an option?

In version 146.0.1, or perhaps even earlier, I noticed that if you set a Primary Password to log in to the browser, you can reset it and log in simply by clicking the "Cancel" button. This allows you to access all of your user tabs and links. I hadn't noticed this before. It defeats the purpose of setting a Primary Password. I noticed similar issues in the Tor browser, but you can't set a Primary Password there at all, even though the feature is there, and it's built on the Fire Fox engine. Please fix this issue. No buttons should allow you to log in without entering the correct Primary Password.

Hi, I set a primary password so that this is required when I first sign in to Firefox but although the request for the password shows up, I realise I only need to press 'cancel' and firefox is opened.

Firefox is now asking for primary password every time it starts, even before any site that required a sign-in. This just started. How can I stop this annoyance, but still keep the primary password for sign-ins?

What a nuisance. As the subject says - I've never had a Primary Password. All of a sudden you're being a nuisance over it, so I've created one via your "Forgot Password" procedure. As I never EVER want Mozilla to remember passwords for me, and that appears to be one of the reasons you give for having a "Primary Password", I find this change highly objectionable. Just regard this as feedback, because I imagine that now I'll be saddled with my "Primary Password" forever, or until I change to a different browser. John Gipps

Try to setup Thunderbird POP3. Keeps asking for a primary password I never set. I do have a password for Mozilla Firefox, used to log-in and create this question. POP3 Yahoo has been real trouble since the MSFT update as of Novemeber/December 2025.

When I open the Firefox browser, it asks me for a password and gives two options: Sign In and Cancel. Normally, if I enter the correct password, I can access the browser. If I press Cancel, access should be denied and the browser should close. However, this is not happening. When I press Cancel, the popup window disappears, but anyone can still use the browser, although they cannot access the saved autofill passwords. Could you help address this bug or issue?

I receive multiple password requests when using the Firefox browser. Every website, every link change, every everything? How do I turn Firefox's password requirement off?

Dear support, I have 2 pcs and I need to enter sync password every time I open Firefox - start notebook. It works fine on the second pc and password is remembered. How to solve it? I had the Primary password set.

Today I restarted Firefox to install some updates (not sure if that's relevant), and when I opened Firefox again, I expected to enter my primary password for sync, but nothing showed up. I thought it was some bug after update or something, so I closed and reopened Firefox, but no dialog box came out.

So I went to passwords section and tried to view one password, which should prompt me to enter my primary password, but it just showed the password to me without asking for my primary. This is where I got quite scared.

I went to my settings and I found out that my primary password is just... not set. I did not remove it, I never told it to anyone, I didn't give anyone a chance to extract it. But it is just not there.

What the hell is going on? I couldn't find any answer to this, anywhere. Is there some option to see how/when was my primary password removed? Some logs?

For whatever reason, saved passwords are visible on right click even if you have a Primary Password created. This defeats the purpose of a Primary Password entirely, so I have to figure out how to disable it.

I've tried group policy and about:config edits but the settings have all changed and no longer work from previous how-tos on the internet.
