Hello Kind Community
My wife and I are retired and work on older MacBook Pro's side by side at our project desk. (Mojave and Catalina both work brilliantly)
This week she lost internet connection after zero issues for at least 4 years. My laptop continues to function normally (using it to type this ...Catalina).
NETGEAR router Nighthawk ac1900 c7000v2 has performed flawlessly since 2020, for our preferred ETHERNET hard-wired connections.
USING MACBOOK WHICH LOST CONNECTIVITY
Yesterday while struggling for connectivity solutions, we tried using FIREFOX without our normal VPN, expressVPN.
We got lucky when FIREFOX opened a menu box atop the Shortcut landing page that said (see attached): 'You must log in to this network before you can access the internet'.
BRILLIANT !! just exactly where we wanted to go, our router log in page.
WHAT WE FOUND
After properly logging into the Netgear router login website (routerlogin.com, or .net) we discovered someone had activated the:
WIRELESS option for remote control by ANYONE. yikes!!!
We unchecked the box, clicked on APPLY, took screenshots, and closed the Netgear router log-in page.
IT WORKED
My wife's MacBookPro was able to use the internet normally, full speed, zero issues on Firefox and also with our VPN, for the entire day.
UPDATE NEXT DAY
This morning my wife's MacBookPro again can not open internet access. Same issues ....
The Netgear website links to access routerlogin all fail, they just open the same Netgear webpage over and over in a loop. All 4 urls fail (https://routerlogin.com/).
OUR BEST IDEA
Can we access the same Firefox pop-up message link again? It is our only route into routerlogin.
Thank you stopping by and reading this HelpBox description. I tried to keep it brief.
Be Happy, Be Healthy ... cheers
