I had so many problems with it, I went through downloading different "session save" add-ons, I know what solution you guys will give me, I've done most of the posts' instructions, this is more of a complaint post.

When Windows boots up and you had Firefox open before you shut down last time, it will open anew, automatically, with your previous session, but it's on the end of the list of things that launch on startup.

Forgetting you had it on and clicking the browser again, will open a new session with the home screen instead of the previous session, then when actual session Firefox launches it's a 50/50 whether it will be in home screen as well, or actually in your previous session. Now here is the fun part. If you close the new window with just the home tab, that will now become the latest session, so your previous one will be deleted.

How to get around that? Move your home tab into your session instead of closing the window, it works 100% of the time... But can we, not start a new session if you close the home screen, or if you close just 1 tab it doesn't count as a different session. I dunno, just throwing ideas out there.

Hope this reaches those with the same issue, or people in positions to fix the issue, if anyone wants to use session saving add-ons, I took fancy to Tab Session Manager and Easy Session Manager, though not perfect, I don't advise for over 150 tabs.

I'll try to be as active on this thread as I can be, thanks for reading through! :>

I loaded Firefox onto a new Win10 laptop yesterday and made it the default browser (against the "recommended" Edge). Today some websites are loading very slowly (e.g. PCMag home page takes 30 seconds to load). Some https sites load normally and others are slow. I refreshed Firefox, did not fix it. Is there something I can do?

I'm using Firefox 85.0.2 . . . I was doing this (below), to customize my header and footer, but in this version of FF, I no longer see this in Options - only in: about:config . . . keyword "footer" . . . there, I would have to change it for 5 different ways of printing (to printers or to PDF)

I need to get rid of printing the URL in the footer - many times, it's too long, and I don't need it.

Where did the Page Setup option go?

I see in the current Print Options, you have to go to - More Settings / Margin / Custom - to see those. Why would they put this so many levels down?

It used to be: File / Page Setup / Margins & Header/Footer . . . "Customize" Headers & Footers:

Option 1 (left) . . . there are two leading spaces:

 > > &T
 > > &U . . . &D . . . &PT

Option 2 (left) . . . get rid of the ">"s, and just have the two leading spaces:

 &T
 &U . . . &D . . . &PT

A recent Firefox update has totally disrupted our ability to print from browser windows. There used to be a "Print Preview" button that allowed us to set things up the way we wanted them. That's now missing. As a result, stuff that used to cost us for ten pages now costs us for twenty pages. Also, when we print double-sided, the second side prints upside down.

This strikes me and my wife as a horrible development, and we would like to go back to the old version ASAP!

So I was having some trouble a few days ago with a website that automatically re-directed as soon as I landed on it to another page. So I happily went off in the settings and disable the automatic redirect. Now a week or two later I'm sitting here going I can't find the setting anymore? I can't even search for it and have absolutely no results you would think searching for "redirect" in the settings pain would bring it up. it's probably something that got buried in developer tools that I would never be able to turn off/toggle again unless I get lucky with the right extremely memorable and easily accessible incantation in the about : config because that's just all so well documented. Is it a "1" is it a "0" is it a "5" which one disabled / enabled what is the other options do?

On Linux Ubuntu 18.04, on my laptop, I have 2 versions of Firefox. Version 85.0.2 which I've been using for a while, and version 97.0.1 which I have just installed. I want to sync the new firefox version with all my data and choices that are on the older version of firefox. I think I am being told to sync my older firefox settings with firefox on my phone. I do not have a phone. I only have 1 laptop. I need help, I don't know how to accomplish syncing with 2 different firefoxes on the same laptop.

Hello

I do not understand how firefox sync is supposed to work. I have a desktop and a laptop. The desktop is FF 85 on Linux Mint (I cannot get a later version due to some querk) The laptop is 99 on Windows 10 Both are signed in to sync but my bookmarks were scrambled so I signed out the laptop and cleared the profile, cleaned up the bookmarks in the desktop and to be safe I tried just syncing the tabs, not the bookmarks, by opening the fresh firefox on the laptop and signing in again. In the sidebar under my account icon I clicked "Synchronise now" and the open tabs from my desktop appeared in a list underneath, jumbled up. (I have 2 separate windows open on the desktop with different tabs in each, but this separation was not followed either, there didn’t seem to be any provision for syncing tabs in two separate windows)

But the row of tabs didn’t open, all I can do is open them one by one from the list on the right, this is a slow process as every time I click on a tab in the list the new page opens in the same single tab, not a new one, but the sidebar closes again.

Is this what’s supposed to happen? I was expecting the synced row of tabs to open automatically.

This feature would have been useful as my OS on the desktop, (Linux Mint) tends to crash and to have the on the laptop would be a good backup.

Incidentally the other way I try to back up the lost tabs is to select them all and bookmark them to a new folder which I call “backup” but it seems this doesn’t necessarily duplicate them, which I would prefer, so any of the open tabs that were previously bookmarked risk being removed from the original bookmarked folder, without my noticing, and I am therefore reluctant to delete the backup folder without checking that it doesn’t contain the only bookmark of a page.

When I came back to syncing the bookmarks, how do I avoid them getting scrambled again?
