OS: Linux Recently, firefox has been annoying me with not closing a tab when I click the X like normal. I have to right click and close it, or press ctrl w. I am unable to move tabs around, as well. I am not sure since when this next bit has been happening, but I am also unable to interact with many elements of the top bar. The only thing of the firefox ui besides the websites themselves that let me interact with them at the moment is the home button, the new tab button, bookmarked sites, and that box icon on the left corner that lets you look at previously closed tabs. My Firefox's version should around, I believe it is 140.5.0 ESR. Thank you in advance. Update: Upon a restart of firefox, it appears to be working again as normal.. However, the bit with tabs not closing when the X is clicked and not being able to move tabs around has been happening multiple previous times, and it may come back. Update again: The issue does come back after some usage. I'm using KDE plasma with Wayland. I will try what the answer asked, and come back later. Update: This seems to happen very randomly and is not reproducible for me.. It will go a few days being fine, then randomly freeze again. Has not happened under another user, at least not yet.

I’ve recently noticed that after a Firefox update, the browser has become very slow and unresponsive whenever I open multiple tabs, around 5–10. Before this update, I could open many tabs without any noticeable lag.

Now, new tabs take a long time to load, scrolling within open tabs feels choppy, and sometimes Firefox freezes for a few seconds before responding again.

I’ve already tried restarting Firefox, disabling extensions one by one, and clearing the cache, but none of these steps have improved the performance. I’m using Windows 10 and the latest version of Firefox.

Could anyone suggest what settings or troubleshooting steps I can try to fix this slowdown?

I'm listening music from youtube and playing Guild Wars 2 in the same time. Tell me pls bc I think it's unnormal, why I see in task manager that Firefox is opened 12-17 times?...

I have removed many gb of apps to try and address this issue today but can't stop Firefox from using an insane amount of memory. What's up? I've been using Firefox for years and have never had this issue until today. I'd like to keep using your browser but I can't if my computer keeps shutting down.

opening firefox why is it blank page. When I open up FireFox the page is Blanck the account tab top right dosent work nothing works no search just blank page why is that. Yesterday it was fine worked

'I am running fiefox version 147.0.3 in MacOS version 26.2. Every second time I start the program firefox tries to take 15GB of memory. The process does not respond (as this is equivalent to more than the memory available plus the swap space). I have to kill the process and the second time the program has standar memory needs. How can I help developers?

I had two Firefox windows on my computer, one with a few tabs of Youtube and Twitch pages, and a private window with a single Twitch stream. I've had them and the program open for days, with my conputer turned on and off multiple times with no issues.

Today I booted a game I installed yesterday on my computer and played for a few hours, after closing the game, both my Firefox windows became completely inaccessible.

I've tried closing firefox, restarting my computer, letting Firefox create a new xulstore file and nothing has worked. I can't see the window, I can't make it active. It's permanently minimised.

It spikes Desktops Windows Manager to 100% GPU usage, it makes my PC lag and run slow, and I can't do anything in the browser cause the window won't stay open or up. I can't even open the old window and then a new one, it stays minimised and I can only see the preview by hovering my mouse over it.

I've tried GPU driver updates, I tried anti virus scanning, and I've tried opening another browser which did work. But Firefox is the one with all my saved settings and preferred browser. I also can't see the Firefox window at all when using the window key + TAB to check my desktop, but it does show up on Task Manager as running.

Please help me restore my program. I'm making this on my phones firefox browser which is running fine

For those of us that do want to use AI for work performance enhancement purposes, I have a question and also a comment for the Development Team. Here is the scenario real quick. I use Mozilla Firefox as my trusted browser today and that means that I open other AI systems such as ChatGPT, Grok, Gemini, etc. within this browser and could at times be running multiple browser sessions at the same time. My question is, will the Mozilla new AI Features attempt to try and compete with my other chat sessions for data capture, response and participation if I keep portions or the whole system enabled? The last thing I need is Mozilla AI as the selected browser now interfering with my other work flow processes in anyway including just listening along which would significantly increase the amount of resources used to run the Mozilla AI in parallel with other AI systems on my computer. I have heavy work loads at times and am already experiencing browser delays in processing data (even when setting up separate project chats for specific tasks) because of too many added features within all of the AI systems like historical chat session quick links on the right side of the screen. That's a ton of data that ends up getting stored/cached, referenced and processed with each command executed. I don't mind using Mozilla AI within the browser for general personal surfing and Q&A purposes but I can see this potentially becoming a big issue for us creators working with large image data processing tasks in other AI systems via the Mozilla browser. I will unfortunately be turning all of these Mozilla AI features off to start because I am not sure there really is a clear separation path for resource allocations within the browser now keeping my experience fast and efficient. Most likely this will force me into using a different browser product for personal vs business until things are much clearer. Hoping to learn a little bit here and see that things like this are being taken into consideration, even if it is a product roadmap enhancement for release sometime in the near future. A couple days ago, some weird issues have started:

• All my bookmarks are gone
• Any of the buttons in the UI that open a smaller UI do not work (such as the 3 bar menu)
• Similarly, right clicking to open a menu (such as "Save Image") also does not work
• Any dropdown menus in websites seem to also not work. For example, in this very support page, I could not select an option in the "Which topic best describes your question?".

I can't restart and troubleshoot Firefox since I can't access the 3 bar menu.

Windows updates from Oct 14 have messed up both firefox and an extension (Ironvest). Can't access mozilla account from icon on toolbar (just a revolving blue buffering circle), nor will the extension work. Have uninstalled extension, turned off/on computer, reinstalled, no luck. Discovered the mozilla account won't work after this, so resigned in a couple times, still the same issue. Even uninstalled one of the window updates (performance, not security) and still not luck. I hate windows when they update and upset all my settings.
