In early June 2025 I finally ditched Windows 10 for 11 and I've been a Firefox user since practically the very beginning of Mozilla.

Now, I notice that the "Restore Previous Session" button in the drop-down of the FF menu is missing. Additionally, I discovered late in the game that Mozilla DID listen to me and gave us the ability to "name" or "tag" an entire window in the browser. This was a HUGE boon to productivity as I'm constantly toggling from window to window to tab to tab.... Now, with the most recent update this ability seems to have disappeared....

I'm on the latest FF 140.0.1 on Linux and I adore tab groups, I'm using it more and more to organize my browser windows. I am using the default (horizontal) tab group layout. Because I have a lot of tabs in the window, I collapse each existing tab group and sort tabs between tab groups.

I can move a tab into an expanded tab group with drag and drop. But I tried dragging and dropping a tab onto a collapsed tab group, even holding it over the collapsed tab group to see if that would work. Nothing seems to register, is it possible?

I would like to move a tab by drag and drop without expanding the collapsed tab group and move the window focus to the next tab. This would save time when I am organizing tabs!

The alternative is to Add a tab to a collapsed tab group, which also expands it and consumes horizontal real estate, forcing me to scroll (further) to return where I was organizing tabs. So I collapse the newly expanded tab group, scroll back to the next tab I want to organize into a different tab group, and repeat but this causes a lot of scrolling navigation to my workflow. It makes complete sense and I really like using menu navigation to add tabs to a specific group because it is discreet and I wish I could move tabs with the same method.

I searched Settings > Tabs and then about:config for browser.tabs.groups.* (and then every preference with tab in it) and couldn't find anything that made sense to me.

Thank you for any help!

Can someone tell me why it is if I'm on a tab and either accidentally or on purpose click the home icon the tab will shut down, and be replaced by the home page? What type of backwards reasoning went into that feature? I've had this happen numerous times without intent, and sometimes with the intent to hit the home button and either way the same thing happens. If it weren't for the browser keeping a history, there are times I would be just out of luck, and have to suck it up. This is not a feature I want in a browser. Instead hitting the home button should forward the tab I'm on to the home page with the ability to back click to the tab I was on. Someone needs to re-think this feature. I would really like to have someone on the development team address this issue.

I regularly use a website which intercepts command-option-up and command-option-down for its own navigation. This is a central part of my workflow with this website, and without it it becomes completely unusable.

After updating to Firefox 140.0.4, these shortcuts are now used by the browser to switch tabs. I have not found any way to configure this. Am I missing some obscure way to do this or is this just impossible?

I imagine this change was made to support vertical tabs, but I'm not using those, so the command-option-left and command-option-right shortcuts make more sense for my horizontal setup. (I don't use those shortcuts either, though- I use ctrl-tab and ctrl-shift-tab!)

I love having the ability to group some of my tabs but I'm wondering if it's possible to create "subgroups" of tabs inside of a "group". For instance, it would be very confusing & even chaotic to have one tab group named "Computers" that has tabs for sites where I buy computers/parts/software, sites where I go to for support for my hardware/software issues, & sites where where I can read reviews about the up & coming new hardware/software. However, the chaos would go away if I could have 3 tab subgroups (Shopping, Support, & News) UNDER a "top level" tab named "Computers".

From what I've been able to find on the Firefox website, this capability is not yet available but I'm wondering if it's something that's currently in development. If not, I would like to suggest that it be seriously considered. I realize that some people could take this kind of capability to the extreme, with hundreds of tabs organized using multiple "sub-tiers" & trying to develop something to support the extreme cases would be a nightmare. However, the ability to even two levels (groups & 1 level of subgroups) would be a HUGE improvement over the current situation.

Hi,

I started using the 'Vertical tabs' option to manage my tabs. I prefer it over the horizontal bar. However, I noticed that when going fullscreen (F11) the vertical tabs are not removed. This is different from horizontal tabs, which are removed from the UI when you press F11.

I think that's because vertical tabs are tied to the sidebar altogether. Is there an alternative to have the vertical tabs work the same as horizontal tabs?

Horizontal bar behaviour in fullscreen:

- The horizontal bar disappears when going fullscreen (F11) - The horizontal bar reappears when hovering the mouse over the top of the screen (which is great!)

Vertical bar behaviour in fullscreen:

- The vertical bar does not disappear and gets in the way of the fullscreen (F11) experience - Checking the setting "Expand sidebar on hover" does not replicate the behaviour of the horizontal bar reappearing upon hovering the mouse. Instead, the smaller version of the sidebar remains and it expands to it's full size when the mouse hovers over it - The only option is to remove the sidebar altogether, which means going back to horizontal tabs

Support Firefox to be able to use different tab view modes on different windows! For example, two Firefox windows on different monitors, in my situation below:

- One on a 1920*1080 hori screen, with vertical tab sidebar disabled - One on a 1080*1920 vert screen, with vertical tab sidebar enabled for this window only in this case.

It brings much more convenience, at least for situations just like mine :)

[I use firefox on Mac, Windows, and Android, but the issue seems to effect me mostly on Mac and Windows) I'm just guessing this to be a browse issue. However I won't miond the post being moved to a more relevant sub-forum.

I keep arriving at this solution when searching for a solution to the increasing number of sites using the irritatingly abused stay/leave page question-dialogue box which pops up when i want to leave a page. The common solution appears to be https://userscripts.org/scripts/show/23865 However, when this page loads, I just get an empty box which looks like one of those ones which normally contain scripts to run or stop running certain things, or even to add or embed items etc.

When researching I often need to load lots of pages top go through. however, when i then need to close them all, i end up manually having to complete these irritating dialogies which are OBVIOUSLY really meant for pages where you may be filling in a form, or editing something, and perhaps have not completed filling it in. However, many sites irritatingly abuse this and just add the feature anyway. It just tells yiou they are dodgy rather than trustworthy. Any up-to-date advice as on July 2025? Any trusted new extensions/addons for this as with auto-cookie form-fillers perhaps?

Hello, FF support forum,

I think I have seen a Container retain my login to a site when I open it again after closing it. Is there a way to configure Containers so that they are mini versions of the dump-cookies-temp-data when I close Firefox entirely? I would so love that functionality.
