I downloaded and installed the new version of Firefox a few days ago, and since then it has been running increasingly slowly; sometimes it takes several moments longer than usual to connect to a website, sometimes my cursor hangs when I'm typing. If I quit Firefox and relaunch, it functions normally, but then slows down again. I'm on a Mac running System 10.14.6, and I have a Dashlane extension mounted in the browser. Once I've engaged Dashlane, Firefox seems to slow down quickly, so I am wondering if the problem is partly the way the two are interfacing, or if there are other factors.

Chrome runs normally, as does Thunderbird--only Firefox seems to be struggling right now. Can you help?

Thanks!

When writing reviews in Google Maps when you click post pictures from your computer (allowing one to browse your computer to find pictures to post) the tab crashes.

This occurs on other websites as well where one would browse the computer to attach documents, photos or videos. Heck, it even happens with this site (selecting browse to post picture causes firefox to crash).

This did not occur prior to updating to 115.0

Hi. I have started having trouble accessing some pages that I have reached easily in the past. When I enter the website address, I get the following..

The MediaWiki logo MediaWiki 1.31 internal error

Installing some PHP extensions is required. Required components

You are missing a required extension to PHP that MediaWiki requires to run. Please install:

   mbstring (more information)
   iconv (more information)
   fileinfo (more information)

- an example of the address that produces this result is:

https://wiki.apterous.org/Episode_8050

I am not sure what has gone wrong, or how to fix it. I tried clicking on 'more information' and found some alarming technobabble way beyond my limited comprehension. What is 'mbstring' 'iconv' and 'fileinfo'? - and how do I 'install' them? This site has worked in the past, so I am mystified. Thanks for any help. - John

Hey! New to mozilla support so sorry if this is a repeat ...

Problem - sometimes the browser window just closes ??

- On Windows 11 with all windows latest updates installed,

- with latest Firefox 115.01

- all graphics updates installed - all antivirus scans are clean

(Possible it is when doing Windows shortcut keys like ctl-? but I'm not sure.)

When I restart firefox the old tabs/links (history) are not restored making me think it 'closed' and cleared history.

Is there a way to see if this this is 1) an actual browser crash or 2) a log to check for why it closed ?

Thx!

Hoping somebody can advise as have looked at all other topics on Youtube wont play.

So after latest version of Firefox was installed tried to play youtube video, loads up and then when play presssed just spins. I tried using MS edge to see if my laptop to blame and works fine, so must be FF. So next thing looked though previous replies here for same issue, one said try clearing cookies and cache which I did and hey presto started working. Today tried playing something same result, spinning wheel, did same again clearing cookies etc, but it did not work this time. I have tried disabling addons with troubleshhot mode and so on too, nothing sorts it.

Can I revert back to old version ? or something else. I hate reseting FF as I find it difficult to save and reinstall my bookmarks and reluctant to do that.

Any help appreciated
-)

I've been fighting this for a week now, and dont remeber every detail in exact chronolgical order, and really don't remember the "why's". Butt here goes, got a new pc, while trying to get all accounts moved to new pc, I changed pwd's, I think so I could install a new recovery key. Anyway, signed in with new pc, and phone, went back to the old computer to sync, since all three devices would be under new log in, and tried to sign in, using new password, and it did not work ("wrong password"), confused went to new pc, I was now signed out, and got the "wrong password" error, phone same issue, logged in, now logged out, can't sign in.

I have tried using the old pw, the new pw, but the old key is nowhere to be found, the new key, and everything else I can think of. I had to create a new account to be able to post here, or do anything else, tried to combine the two acct's, got a sign in was successful message, but then immediately said "you don't have permission".

Please tell me I did not lose over 250 bookmarks and passwords, because someone decided it was a good idea to tie all your information to one word and have it deleted if you have a brain fart, or a pc glitch with no hope of recovery. If you need more info please ask, at this point I'll give you my first born son to get back in this account.

Firefox Installation on a portable/back up drive Help (Kinda?)

Hey! I got a Question and I hope it's either in the works or someone has figured it out and can point me to the right direction.

Is there a way to install FireFox ENTIRELY on a different Drive? I have managed to install it on a backup drive just fine, but Firefox LOVES to make edits and make profiles to the C: drive. I need it to stop and ONLY manage the profiles in the specified folder. I have tried making a new profile on the backup drive and selecting it, but it keeps going back to the C drive. I have tried to move the data to the backup drive and selecting it via the profile manager and it still doesn't work.

How do I know? well, When I moved the profile to the desired location, and selected it. It works fine, Until I delete the new folder mozilla makes in the C drive. Then it just goes back like it's a fresh install. when it shouldn't since the targeted profile is on an entirely different drive.

I even tried to set the windows default install directory to the backup drive, and still nothing.

anyways, Mozilla is obsessed with my C drive and I'm trying to break them up, any sugestions? It sucks when I get stuck on a failed boot loop, and have to format which makes me lose the C drive and the profile Firefox was on already, even though that wasn't the targeted folder.

I have tried Firefox portable, but it's a third party modification and I'm a bit weary and it was a version behind and the extensions were a bit wonky. (I did try to replace some of it's files with the actual Firefox and it moved the version to the updated one, but the extension issue, and security is always gonna be an issue.

Any help would be amazing!

Stay Firey!

When a new bookmark is created, it isn't saved in the specified location (which I will henceforth call the "folder").

For example: I'm on a page I want to bookmark, so I select Bookmarks>Bookmark Current Tab. In the Location it already has the folder I want, for example, "Math". I click Save.

Naturally, I expect the bookmark to be saved in the Math folder. But it's not. Instead, it will be in the "Bookmarks Menu" folder (which is the outer folder that contains Math). If I select Bookmarks>Edit This Bookmark, the location will show "Bookmark Menus", not "Math". If I try to use the bookmark, it's in Bookmark Menus. If I then change it to Math, the bookmark will now be saved in the correct folder.

The same thing happens if I select "Choose" when originally creating the bookmark, and then select the folder. The bookmark will be created in Bookmarks Menu.

I've learned to always (or almost always) remember to edit each bookmark after creating it, but it's still a very annoying bug. It's been like that for as long as I can recall, and is still the way in 115.0.1.

Starting Firefox triggers Memeo backup and Trusteer to run and bog down cpu

Hello, While not on every occurrence of starting Firefox, too many times Firefox won't bring up its home page (Google) because two applications running in the background (Memeo Premium Backup and Trusteer Rapport) start to run at the same time and contribute at least 70% of the CPU load, with Firefox accounts for another 20%.

I imagined that Google is flooding Firefox with a lot of files that Memeo begins tabulating for transfer in anticipation of its external backup drive being eventually switched on.

So I decided to tell Memeo to specifically exclude two system folders which might be storing temporary files when Firefox is active.

C:\Users\**\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox C:\Users\**\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox

Doing this did not improve things, as Memeo and Trusteer occasionally turn on as Firefox is starting up.

Does anyone know of any other folders which could be potential locations for temporary data that Memeo may feel obligated to interact with.

Thanks
