It has always been the case that when I closed Firefox, it asked if I wanted my open files saved and reopened when I opened the browser again. I needed to restart my laptop and I decided to close Firefox first. It asked if tabs should be saved and I said yes. After I restarted the laptop and reopened Firefox, all of my open tabs (I think about 35) were gone. Can I get them back?

I would like to change my primary email on the account and my profile shows that there is currently no secondary email. I keep inputting a secondary email address that I could then reset to be the primary but Firefox keeps responding that the proposed secondary email is already confirmed by another user.

The proposed secondary email is under my full control and it would not be confirmed as a secondary email for anyone else. While attempting to solve this mystery, I did attempt to sign in under the proposed secondary email. I thought that if I were successful, I could close out that account. Unfortunately, while it appeared to accept the email address and a password saved on my hard drive, I also received an error message that said that I needed to sign in under the primary email.

The purpose for all of this is that I am changing to a new computer, will want to operate it without the old primary email address, and want all of my settings and history from the old computer to transfer over. Please advise. Thanks.

I see there is a new AI chatbot feature available on Firefox. In reading the article about the various AI providers, I did not find information about who owns each of the chatbots. That information would be helpful in deciding on which chatbot, if any, I might decide to use. Thanks.

Will Firefox ever be updated to use end to end encryption so that users of Facebook Messenger can do audio and video chats as they did before META's change?

If not, Mozilla could lose a lot of Firefox users of Facebook Messenger. That includes me. I have been with FF since v0.93 :-P

Messenger audio and video chats work fine on several other browsers including Brave. There is even a Messenger App on the Microsoft store.

I would really like to see someone at Mozilla answer this.

I downloaded an extension and can't do anything with it. There is no way for me to open it, all I can do is open up my extensions to see it then change permissions or delete it. It won't appear on my toolbar with other extensions. I've seen others ask this question and the solutions dont apply to me. People are being told to either right click and click pin to toolbar or to click the gear icon next to the extension and then pin to toolbar as well. I have no gear icon next to extensions and right clicking an extension treats it like a link. There is a gear at the top that when I click it I can click "manage extension shortcuts" only for it to then pretend none of my extensions have shortcuts even though 2 of them are right there in my toolbar. The 3rd 1 mozilla seem to not want me to have on my toolbar.

Firefox kept eating my RAM, running dozens of processes. I have gone into about:config and set the dom.ipc.processCount to 1 - then I restarted Firefox and found 5 processes running straightaway before even using the browser. I closed it down and have started it again and now there are 11 processes running with just one tab open. The problem repeats on three different computers which are not infected with malware. One computer with slightly less RAM I now cant even use Firefox at all (though all other browsers work fine) because the tabs constantly crash due to the high number of processes. Is there any way to set the process limit low in a way that Firefox actually responds to?

Within a minute of starting Firefox up, it loses internet connection and prevents the computer from connecting to anything else. Using Ethernet or Wifi doesn't work. The only thing that corrects it is restarting the computer. This is on Windows 11. There are multiple other computers on the network, with W10 and W11, and none of them are having this issue. I've tried everything I can think of. After losing connection, it still pings 8.8.8.8.. Is there anything else we can try?

Hello, any best practices for converting Firefox bookmarks once they're exported? The exported_bookmarks.html are an html file which are impossible to edit. Converting so the data for folders, titles and urls can be edited is what's needed.

I tried Vi with some Regex code, however the cleaned file is not so clean.

Many web pages that have a video header will launch the video in a popup window after you scroll past the header.

There are no user controls in the popup window, and clicking 'block popups' and turning off 'enable p-n-p controls' had no effect on them.

Is there a a setting that will stop these video popups from automatically launching? They eat up a lot of memory, and are a pain to turn off manually.

I have no other devices to "sync" to. This may or may not be why my "passwords" in Firefox have been locked down as I can not now log into my hotmail.com account. Passwords are visible in Firefox except for the passkey which I can't seem to delete. I need to either see it or delete it. Also, it won't do any good to send a response to the e-mail linked to Mozilla. I had to create a new temporary account to try to get MS to restore my hotmail.com account. The storing of Passwords by Firefox is not helpful to me & I do not want it & need to turn it off. Thanks for help in this multilayered mess of software I'm using.

Google told me to go to About.Config, find "browser.tabs.showAudioPlayingIcon" then change the value to false. But, at least in my version of FF, that doesn't work because browser.tabs.showAudioPlayingIcon isn't listed. I'm running 142.0.01.

I know FF is trying to please all the wonderful teenagers who want to constantly screw around with software settings. But it would be really nice if such new "features" were not turned on automatically.

I am suddenly unable to login to my iCloud account using Mozilla Firefox. I was always able to do so before now. I am able to login using Microsoft Edge browser. I have disabled the Firefox pop-up blocker but still not working. When I input my username and password, iCloud sends me an authentication code... but that next pop-up screen from iCloud having a place to input the code does NOT pop-up, so I cannot enter the code. That pop-up screen comes up in MS Edge. Any help is appreciated!! I'm running Windows 10

I keep getting what appears to be notification (of news items?) popping up in the lower right hand corner of my screen. Is this a function of Firefox and if so can I disable it?

Hi, I’ve lost all of my saved passwords, bookmarks, and browsing history in Firefox. I’ve been a Firefox user for over five years, always tied to the same Firefox account email. My laptop recently had to be repaired, and the technicians performed a full reboot. After getting it back and reinstalling Firefox, all my data was gone. I tried recovering an old profile, but the reboot erased everything, so there are no old profiles or local data left on the device. Since my Firefox account has always been connected to the same email, I was hoping all of my data would still be recoverable, but I haven’t had any success. This represents over five years of saved information, and I really need help to restore it. Can Firefox support assist me in recovering my data through my account? Thanks in advance.

Every time I login on my computer, there is already an open Firefox webpage with a dialog box asking me if I want Firefox to be my primary default browser. Once I click "Set a Default Browse", a Microsoft Edge webpage appears giving me a list of choices of Microsoft application to select to be my browser. Firefox is not on the list. There is also a dialog box that appears on the lower right corner of the screen showing me the steps on how to make Firefox my default browser. The choices are "Show Me How" and "No Thanks". When I click the "Show me how", I am taken to Firefox setting, once I click the "Make Default" I am taken back to the list of Microsoft applications to choose as my browser. The bottom line is I cannot make Firefox my default browser anymore. In fact, I am not even sure if I am sending this message to Firefox or Mozilla. How can I change the settings on Firefox so that only one window opens when I initially open up Firefox? I current get a window with my home page and then two tabs with my home tab.
