12/11/17 Mozilla Firefox crashed while my husband was on MSN News. Monitor went to a black screen, then rebooted on its own. Note: This crash did not show up on the Mozilla Troubleshooting--Crash Report. A couple hours later, he logged onto Mozilla Foxfire with no problem.

12/12/17 Husband could not open Mozilla Firefox. Hourglass would spin, then go away. The program would not open. Note: My account (wife) has no problem loading Mozilla Firefox.

Actions taken: I did a Mozilla Firefox Troubleshoot to no avail. I updated Firefox to "Firefox Quantum". This did not fix my husband's account. Also, did a Kaspersky and MalwareBytes update and full scans. As for your suggestions, I will have to check the Firefox version, and installed plug-ins. Operating System is Windows 10 Home but Mozilla Foxfire is showing Windows 8. Any suggestions are helpful. Thank you.

Firefox updated to Quantum and blows Win8.1 dual processor out of the water. Usage runs as high as 100% Here's a screenshot. I picked a dull website with no ads running etc. CPU usage spikes every few seconds and Firefox averages really high compared to Internet Explorer. Notice the regular spikes in usage don't correlate with disk usage so I don't think it's causing paging to occur. What has Mozilla done to Firefox to cause this?

I installed the latest version of Firefox 2-3 days ago. It is extremely slow to load and get stuck after opening 3-4 tabs (i.e. You Tube, Face Book and Google. I tried it with disabling the firewall - Safe mode - reinstalling - refreshing - still the problem occurs

New Firefox opens but will not connect, no error messages, and will not open "options". However if I boot to W7 "Safe Mode" runs OK. No problems with Internet Explorer or old Firefox.

The newest version for Windows 10 was just forced installed. Now it is terrible. Trys to open home page and dies. Comes back with Firefox not responding. After a while, it finally loads the home page. Your new version is going backwards in time. It is terrible. And I rely on Firefox for my internet connection and activity. I did your refresh and reinstall. Still garbage. Can I go back to the prior version? Your new version is horrible and I made no changes to any settings. Your force install happened and now it crawls to open up. HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP Please

The latest firefox 57.0 installed itself as an update on Win10. It is virtually unusable because it is extremely unresponsive. It's rather like the first generation GUI apps which at times would take minutes to respond to an operation.

I've started it up in safe mode: not much better. I used the accessiblity.force_disabled=1 trick from the forum: better but still horrible in safe mode.

Something is grabbing control of the process and holding it for extended periods of time. While this is happening even the controls won't highlight as I hover over them. The mouse wheel will not scroll the display. Menus won't drop or if dropped won't highlight the current item under the cursor.

Eventually (which can be a long time) it will break free for a little bit. The task manager shows firefox not using too much CPU (12% on a four core system) nor much memory (1/3 GB). My guess is that one of the threads is failing to release a lock which keeps the other threads from working despite their being system resources available. Eventually the offending thread finishes the operation or starts another and in that path releases the thread then all is well until the next time; the window of responsiveness only seems to last for a few seconds.

Autoupdated to v57.0 (64 bit). Now no border around window. Cannot move window on screen. Cannot expand/contract window size. Has top line (File, Edit, View......Help) but no controls in upper right corner to shrink, full screen, close panel. See jpg image

since updating firefox i find that the browser runs very slow and stop working for short time. if this cant be fixed then i shall have to move to a different browser

Today Firefox automatically upgraded itself. After the upgrade, it is incredibly slow. Home page never finishes loading. Tried a simple page (google,com) and that loaded but nothing would work. Could not type in search bar. Could not access any of the Firefox menu (ie: help or tools) The upgrade also occurred several days ago and did the same thing. I did a system restore to get back to the earlier version. But again the automatic upgrade has struck.

I have been a Firefox user for years and am amazed that an upgrade could be so terrible! As a result, I have switched to Chrome and will stop recommending Firefox to everyone/anyone until the problem is resolved. After 25 years in the IT business, I do not wish to spend several hours troubleshooting a problem caused by and "upgrade"! I will attempt to start Firefox every once in a while to see if the next "upgrade" cures the problem. Until then...

I cannot start Mozilla Firefox at all, no matter what I do. Nothing on the site so far has been able to help since everything assumes I can actually start it! The only thing that happens when I click Mozilla Firefox is a crash report, that's it. Nothing else, no screen flicker, no Mozilla appearing for a second or two, nothing but the crash report. I've been having this problem for about 4 days and haven't been able to fix it. The only thing I can think of is to completely uninstall Firefox (which I've been avoiding since I'd like to keep all my preferences if possible but it's looking more and more like I cannot).

Fire fox since the update is running really slow hanging up all the time and using 20-50% of my cpu. I have tried ALL of the fixes that were on the support page i even uninstalled and re installed firefox yet it is still happening. PLEASE help me i love fire fox but if it keeps like this i will have to abandon it as i cant do anything with it freezing every few seconds.

I have tried the various fixes that have been proposed and still not able to speed up the web browser at all. Trying to scroll with the mouse stalls and then finally moves either up of down the page. Opening new browser windows takes longer than usual since the update. Even typing is slow to appear even while I am typing this note. I have saved the information page in .pdf format and unable to save in an image file.

Firefox becomes unresponsive for long periods of time since installing version 57. Frequency reduces if I start without addons. Anyone having similar problem? Timed one lockup and it lasted five minutes and then Firefox worked again. Have not had this problem on version 56.

I upgraded my Firefox to 57.0 version today and now getting this error massage. I deleting the file profiles.ini and able to start the Firefox, but after closing it the error is constantly returning. I think that the problem is in the path to this file: C:\Users\Администратор\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla with word "Администратор" in it written in cyrillic letters. I tried to create new profile with path without cyrillic letters (with open firefox, because I'm don't able to start Poifiles Manager) and make it default profile, but Firefox don't remember my changes and after closing don't start again. This strogs my oppinion that the problem is in the word "Администратор". The previous versions of Firefox were understood russian, but the new version, I think, don't understand it. I have russian UI in Firefox. What i have to do now? (Don't tell me that I'm have to install the Chrome).

Usage: using Firefox quantum and opening pages just fine.regular use with about 15 tabs open. notebook enters standby because i just closed the lid. lets wait 30 minutes and go back to work.

Symptoms: Continuing to work on Firefox Quantum after reopening my notebook lid and exits standby is almost impossible due to slowness. click a tab, open a page, write something, it takes more than 30s seconds to do it.

Temporal Fix: Either never go to stand by or close firefox and reopen. After closing and reopening, everything goes back to normal.

Reproducible: yes, looks likeeverytime.

I tried starting firefox 57 in safe mode and while there is some activity, the browser does not open as it normally should. I have attached a screenshot of what I see - where do I go from here. This is in safe mode.

Windows 7, 64 bit -

After a refresh Quantum response degrades as pages are loaded. After loading say "The Wall St Journal" clicking to get a new tab takes a second, similarly scrolling the side scroll won't respond right a way. It takes a second. When it does move it will stop following the mouse, then when you stop the mouse it will jump to where the mouse is. Things get progressively slower and jumpier until it either blows up itself and gives a message (that the failure has been reported) or a page freezes and you have to CNTRL_ALT_DEL out of it and end the task.

How do you fix this?

I spent 11 hours this past Tuesday trying to fix the new Firefox 57. As there is a hesitation when scrolling and typing. And the hesitation also happens when clicking on something. ..... From what I have read here Im not the only one this is happening to.

  What a Bummer.  so tonight I went back to Firefox 56.0.2   and that works fine.   I hope Mozilla finds a Fix for this problem and soon.
