Whenever i open a new tab i am greeted with this page

http://blog.mozilla.org/ux/files/2012/05/Firefox-Beta-13-Redesigned-About_Home-Page1.png?128c42

Which is a small problem for me, because whenever i want the cursor the start in the adressbar. So if i would for example open a new page, i typ in imdb.com i get directly to imdb.

Now however, with the firefox tab home screen. I have to do a google search for imdb.

A small problem perhaps, but big enough to be annoying.

Is there a way to go in to settings or something similar, and make sure the cursor remains in the addressbar after opening a new tab?

I have used Firefox since it was introduced and have had it remember my passwords for as long as that's been possible. Suddenly, last week, after the 32.0 upgrade, all of my passwords completely disappeared. I have the Privacy settings set to "Firefox will Remember History". Why would they have disappeared, and how can I retrieve them? Is there anything nefarious I should be worried about (could they have been stolen)?

I am running Windows 8.0 on a 64-bit computer with 4GB RAM/1TB HDD. Today, I upgraded to 32.0.1, but the passwords are still missing. I have Sync enabled.

I have the current Firefox version installed. Am using Win 7 Home Premium. This issue started several months ago after a Firefox update. Every time I open a "New Tab", I get this message on the screen, surrounded by a red box:

XML Parsing Error: undefined entity Location: about:newtab Line Number 139, Column 47: <button class="launchButton" id="settings">&abouthome.settingsButton.label;</button>

^

Haven't the vaguest idea what it means or how to get rid of it. Am going back to another support page that tells how to get pinned windows restored that used to show up every time I opened a new tab. Perhaps that will help? We shall see - wish me luck! Thanks to all the Volunteers on this site in advance if anyone has the cure that ails me!

Oh, and before posting this, I did install the Add-On called "Troubleshooter" Regards, Deb and Dakota

I used to be able to click on a Word document link and the document would open - now when I click on the link, I receive an error message when Word opens up saying:

Word experienced an error trying to open the file. Try these suggestions:

  • Check for file permissions for the document or drive.
  • Make sure there is sufficient free memory and disk space.
  • Open the file with the Text Recovery converter.

Nothing has changed in regard to web page where I am looking at the files from or on my computer, except that the version of Firefox has updated. I am now using FF version 32.

The files will open with IE, but not Firefox. I loathe the idea of having to use IE.

I have tried the different choices under Tools -> Options -> Applications for Word documents, and none made a difference.

I have two plugins for Microsoft Office 2010 and they are both set to 'Always Activate'.

Please help!

I started getting the message that an associated helper file can't be found when I try to open a pdf. I found instructions that say I should go to tools/options, select content, and then in the file types section select manage. But there IS no file types section under content. Where has the new Firefox moved the file types section--I can't find it anywhere.

Hi Everyone!

I am not sure if I am missing something or if other people are seeing the same problem.

The problem I am seeing is that Firefox does not seem to be automatically updating. I have checked the settings and the option is selected. It will sit on the version I installed no matter how long I wait. However, if I go to the About page for the browser then it instantly starts downloading the newest version and installs it.

This is not just on my PC either. I support a large number of family PCs and majority of them follow this same behavior.

Any insight into this would be appreciated!

Thanks!

I have this stupid new tab page that I can't figure out how to get rid of. I have my homepage set to facebook, I've checked my programs installed and there are no adwares or toolbars or anything. I've checked in the add-on menu and extensions and there is nothing unusual. I can't figure it out. It is called "sweet-page," and I'm sure others have had the issue. It seems to have hidden itself. I even tried the uninstall directions from THEIR page and it didn't work. I just tried to un and re-install Firefox, and it didn't fix it. Help please, it's not killing my computer or anything, just really annoying. Thanks in advance.

I have a problem with all browsers, many pre-installed or downloaded programs when run, or especially when deleted/removed from the computer, automatically open the browser to the website of the program. HP/Compaq is infamous for adware with included programs, as is the Free AVAST anti-virus. Wildtangent Games (included with HP computers) is loaded with adware that starts running as soon as a game is opened, and when uninstalled through Programs and Features, every single time opens the browser to ask annoying questions why you don't want their adware loaded games or some idiotic survey.

So my question is, short of unplugging the LAN cable and WiFi box, (which the browser still opens anyway), How do I block ALL programs being removed or run from opening the browser at all? I'll manually open it, I just don't want some crap program linking me to some website I don't want to visit.

And yes Firefox is set as default. So these programs will open up Firefox with their Malware junk.
