Have tried to change homepage as per Firefox HELP (numerous times) but can't get rid of Findwide page at startup. I've tried to install and run add-on per another post but can't get the add-on to run. I'm running Windows 8 from a Dell laptop. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Since upgrading to Windows 8 Pro (with a downloaded upgrade, not a "clean" instal, so all my apps and settings were retained) I get the following error message when starting my customised version of Firefox with several pinned tabs, or when flash content loads in an uncustomised version in another user account, or when that version is closed if no flash content is loaded :-

(Title) - FlashPlayerPlugin_11_5_502_110.exe - Application Error

(Content) - "The instruction at 0x71a30000 referenced memory at 0x71a30000. The memory could not be written. Click on OK to terminate the program"

This also happened with the 11.4.402 version prior to today's update.

I have tried running the browser with add-ons disabled, and uninstalled/re-installed Firefox, but the problem remained. Can anyone tell me what the problem is and how to fix it?

Today I have noticed it for the first time.. The icon use to look like a blank page with a mini firefox icon on it.. Now the htm and html icon looks like a blank white page that is bent on the top right hand corner.. I tried a firefox reset and it didn't help.. I don't wanna do a reinstall of firefox because I want to keep the old firefox download manager and not the new one that is on the right of the search bar.. ( I saw it on my ubuntu linux computer) BUT my computer with the html file icon problem is Windows 7 x64

I want to use wget to script fetching some files, but I need the cookies from my login. wget lets you load from a cookies.txt file, but all I can find is cookies.sqlite, and that does not seem to work.

I am assuming that cookies.sqlite is an "improvement" over the older "cookies.txt" format ... but is there any way to export cookies to the old format (or just tell Firefox to use the old format)?

I just upgraded Firefox on 10/20/2012 on two different Windows OS: Vista (service pack ??) and Windows XP service pack 5.1. I also write TiddlyWiki's. However, when clicking "save changes", I now get this note:

"It's not possible to save changes. Possible reasons include: - your browser doesn't support saving (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari and Opera all work if properly configured) - the pathname to your TiddlyWiki file contains illegal characters - the TiddlyWiki HTML file has been moved or renamed"

I didn't have to do anything to configure the earlier version of Firefox. What do I have to do now ... or is there a bug in 16.1? Thanks for your help.

My son downloaded MSPaint but it appears the download was infected with malware. It downloaded several programs that weren't approved including the Bucksbee Loyalty plugin. I thought that when I removed it I would be able to use Google once again as my default search engine. But somehow Bucksbee is still the default. Google is also listed as my default search engine in about:config. SO somehow the malware has hijacked that setting as well.

When I do some searches by clicking on Google search results it takes me to sites like Match.com rather than this site for example.

I've found the MSPaint software in my Windows/System 32 folder. When I try to delete it I get an error saying Trusted Installer won't permit it.

I ran my Spybot software hoping it would catch & remove the program. But it didn't.

Anyone have any idea about how to neutralize & remove this nasty bit of malware?

When I open a second tab in Firefox, it does not go to my home page. Instead it goes to a page that displays what looks like a collection of pages (or links) that I have visited in the recent or distant past. I would much rather have it go to my home page which is much more useful to me. I have tried to change this in 'Options' but with no luck. Please fix this.

I installed some plugin which put Yahoo as my default search engine. Meanwhile I could remove most of it and I am able to use Ixquick again. But when I enter a wrong URL into the url bar, e. g. motsilla.org, it still takes me to the Yahoo search! How can I remove this? I've seen nothing in the about:config.

I installed the Anti-virus program AVG not too long ago. When I open up Firefox (I have the default homepage, the one with a search bar under the Firefox symbol) and search with the search bar, It uses AVG Secure Search. I would like it to search with Google. I tried installing and then uninstalling AVG Secure Search, that didn't work. I even tried uninstalling AVG itself, but when I clicked uninstall nothing happens. But I'd like to solve my searching problem first. Please help me!

I just noticed that when I'm composing an email in AOL mail that the red underline would appear under parts of a correctly spelled word as if some portion of that word was misspelled which isn't the case. I contacted AOL and they said it was probably a browser problem which turns out it is. After disabling spell check, in Tools, the problem went away. Re enable and the problem returns. I have the English language dictionary installed and I added the English language dictionary add on. This seems to have alleviated the problem, some what, but not completely. It sometimes will not underline an obviously misspelled word. Never had this problem until I installed FF 16. There has to be a bug in FF 16. Please review and advise. Thanks

I have a toolbar by conduit.com. I cannot find out where it came from. If it doesn't belong to Mozilla Firefox I would like to get rid of it.

When using Firefox, I have discovered that, for almost every link on the above site, performing either a CTRL + click or a SHIFT + click on the link does not open the link in a new tab or window, but instead does nothing whatsoever.

I've tested this on two separate machines, one running Firefox 22.0 and one running Firefox 16.0.2, and both machines/versions behave in exactly the same way, i.e. CTRL + click and SHIFT + click on links does nothing.

Clicking normally on the links behaves as expected, navigating to the link location. Using right-click > Open link in new tab, or right-click > Open link in new window, works fine too.

I have tested CTRL + click and SHIFT + click on the above site using both Chrome and IE, and they work fine. So I have narrowed the issue down to being something to do with how Firefox is dealing with the HTML of the site. Firefox on both machines deals fine with links on other sites when performing a CTRL + click or SHIFT + click; but not on this specific site.

Can anyone help me work out why this is happening? Why is it only a problem on Firefox? What is it about that particular site that Firefox is having trouble with?

Thanks in advance of any wisdom or experience you can lend to this. It has been driving me mad, as I've always used Firefox and I rely heavily on CTRL/SHIFT + click, especially when doing admin stuff.

I now use Windows 7 OS and Firefox as my default browser. Previously, in Windows XP, when I entered a website address it automatically changed to a (HTML?) link and if you clicked the link you went straight to the relevant page on the website. I may not have added the relevant Plug-in or Add-on and this may be the reason I am having the problem. I would like to have a simple way of doing this and not some of the suggestion I found when trying to resolve this myself.

I see in Thunderbird that there is an Insert menu where I can do this very thing but I can;t find the Insert menu in Firefox.

I have been using the google seach when i type my question. But now the yahoo search just have overrun the google search. Well, I tried my best so to change it but i could not. As for now i will be using chrome. but if i get a solution for this i will get back to my favourate firefox... other wise. .i have still to do with chrome....

I often want to forward web pages to friends, and used to be able to do this before I got a new hard drive put in. I used to be able to click an orange cross which opened an email forwarding screen that I filled in, then sent the page. I don't see that now and wonder whether there's something similar I can use. My searches on the web have thusfar been fruitless, and as usual, the Firefox answers don't help. What can you tell me?
