Folder display changes for junk and "sent messages" folders

I believe that version 145.0, newly installed on the 9th December, 2025 was showing server folders correctly; the server folder name matched the client folder name.

After upgrading to 146.0 on the 10th December, the server folder names for some folders are displaying with different client folder names.

The IMAP account has both "spam" and "junk" folders, Thunderbird is now displaying both as "Spam", you can only determine which folder is which by showing folder properties. It appears to users that there are two "Spam" folders now and not the two distinct folders with their own names.

Similar behaviour is happening for "Sent" and "Sent Messages" folders, both now display as "Sent".

These changes are confusing, the client sees two "Spam" folders and two "Sent" folders instead of the original proper server folder names.

Why has the display name for these folders changed?

How can I get TB to display the real underlying folder names?

I have a Signature setup and it works great on NEW Emails, however, if I click on reply to an email the signature is not there. I have the checkbox checked for "Include signature for replies" but it doesn't seem to work. I've tried unchecking it, restarting the app, re-checking it and restarting again, still doesn't work.

TOPIC 1 In Betterbird there is the option to colour the email account. The only option in TB is to change the colour of the email envelope icon. There used to be a extension that achieved this but fell by the wayside in TB 115 I researched this on TB forum on reddit.... https://www.reddit.com/r/Thunderbird/comments/17unvb1/different_account_colors_in_thunderbird_115/

It made interesting reading and I did download the 'account colours' zip to install and see if it worked. Only thing is that I do not know how to install it........can someone brighter than me tell me how to install it and to remove it if it doesn't work. Many thanks.

Any user views on Betterbird over TB. The developer has done a great job and has one thing I do like and that is the ability to colour the highlighted email account rather than just the envelope icon. Experiences are appreciated so I can make the informed decision on which to use. Should I decide to use it how does one just port TB and its settings over to Betterbird.?

Every time I open up Thunderbird email I get a message box which pops up saying " Sending of the Message failed An error occurred when sending mail. Were sorry but we cant send your email. etc, etc and "Please check by sending it again(6-1-1-2)

ID (68CA1CA0089AF165) please check the message and try again"

How do I find this message ? When I look at sent items in my mail , I have sent nothing and I am not aware of sending anything.

Hello. We changed from the ESR channel to the regular release channel today by installing Thunderbird v146.0 (regular release version) over the top of our existing installation (which was the ESR version). The installation went fine and everything appears to be working perfectly. My only question is why the name of the profile didn't change. It still has a name of 'xxxxxxxx.default-esr'. I would have thought that the name would be changed to 'xxxxxxxx.default-release'. Is this something we should change, or should it be left alone. Thank you very much for your assistance.

Cannot get rid of TB's request for account password/connection for an account that I removed. Server account deleted, saved passwords for this account deleted. All references to this account that I know about have been removed and still when I open TB it pops up with request for username and password for this deleted account. Please help.

I recently installed 145.0, was running the latest esr release before on my Windows laptop.

Now when I try to drag a file into an email to attach it, I get the black no smoking sign. Only way to attach is to use the drop down menu. Drag & drop was working fine in the esr version.

I set up Thunderbird on Debain 13 OS "Trixie" and then migrated (or tried to) my profiles.ini and attendant email folders to Ubuntu 24.04. I have done this before between Linux and even Windows installs, copying the folders over. Usually that is all you need to do to migrate emails and 'set up'. However, migrating from Debian to Ubuntu causes issues, namely the import is rejected by TB. At first, I thought perhaps Debian is using a newer version of Thunderbird and Ubuntu uses an older version, so I upgraded Thunderbird to a newer version. Import of profiles and folders still crash. This is using the profile import tool in TB.

I have a lot of emails via IMAP and it takes a long time to set them up and about ten gigs worth of emails. Is there anything that can be done?

New laptop. Took it to the Geek Squad to move the data from my wife's old computer to new. They had me sign in to Windows on the new machine and perform the setup steps, then took it and the old computer to do the data transfer. The issue is that the returned new computer had my MS profile on it but my wife's mail under that profile.

To try to correct this, I set up my wife's profile on the new laptop and my thought was to export the email from my MS account's TB data to a public folder, turn off TB and sign off my MS profile, sign back on to my wife's MS profile, start TB and import the zip file in the public folder. However, it tells me the folder is too large and I must unzip and import from the extracted folder. Windows Explorer won't let me unzip the file saying it's not a valid zip file. Ideas?
