In the Account Settings main page there is a field called "Organization". I put some text in that field and press OK. I restart TB and check that the text is still there and it is. I then send an email from that account to another email address. I get the email delivered to the other address but do not see the "Organization" text in that email. Where should I see that text?

Recently, Rogers (my Canadian ISP) changed their setup to require a OAuth2 password for incoming and outgoing. I see an SMTP option in the list but nothing under POP.

Lately, when I open Thunderbird, it takes many tries to login and retrieve my e-mails. Chatted with a Rogers rep and they directed me to the issue above.

When I use "Save as" with a single email, I have the option to select the file save format, and Thunderbird will let me create & save my message as a text file.

When I select multiple emails I can save these with the "Save as" -> "File" from the menu, but I have no choice of format. Thunderbird saves them all as ".eml" files.

I have several years of meeting minutes that I would like saved in either text or html format, so saving one at a time will take a long long time.

Any suggestions? Please?

An email to a regular recipient returned a 'Delivery Failure', instructing me to config my client to use "authentication." Last emailed recipient late Dec 2017, no problem.

These are the instructions my mailbox provider (human geek owns business) gave me today: "Here are the steps to configure Thunderbird to use SMTP Authentication. 1. From the top menu, click on "Tools," select "Account Settings," which will bring up the "Account Settings" dialog box. 2. Select "Outgoing Server (SMTP)"

    • DO NOT HAVE THIS:

3. Click "Advanced," which will bring up the "Advanced Outgoing Server (SMTP) Settings" dialog box.

4. Select the SMTP server you want to configure, click "Edit," this will bring up the "SMTP Server" dialog box. 5. Check "User name and password." 6. Enter your full email address in the "User name" field. 7. Click "OK" and close all dialog boxes.

First, I'm not using Lightning. I don't want Thunderbird to create calendar entries, etc. I just want to be able to click Accept on an invitation I receive, and that response be sent from the email address the invite was sent to.

At the moment it gets sent from the first email account address in the list of email accounts under Settings.

This seems rather odd, since when I press Reply or Reply all when I am have the invite open, the email account that comes up is the one that it was sent to, rather than any other. In addition, even if an email is sent to an incorrect address, if I choose to reply to it, I have a choice of changing the From email address. This option does not seem to be available in invite responses.

Neither of the accounts in question is gmail

My InBox displayed messages have suddenly lost display with the embedded graphics, as though I was not using HTML, and trying to minimize file content (like on older computers. All graphic content shows a frame with the Broken Image icon). [See attached screenshot Image] I have confirmed that my Thunderbird is communicating with the Internet, and if I bring up my gmail account through the Internet, it displays correctly, as it always has until the last couple days. I cannot foind anything in the TB Preferences or accounf settings to explain this. I have rebooted the computer several times, closed and re-opened TB several times, and nothing corrects this. I am running TB version 52.6.0 (upgraded on 2/10/18) on an iMac (5K 27" late 2014) running Mac OS 12.12.5. Any suggestions? __ Chuck av8or.usaf@gmail.com

Since switching from POP to IMAP with BT Yahoo Mail nearly 2 weeks ago I can receive emails but I cannot send emails!

Deatils of Outgoing Server (SMTP) are as follows:- Description: BT Mail Server Name: mail.btinternet.com Port: 465 User Name: xxxxxxx@btinternet.com Authentication method: Normal password. Connection security: SSL/TLS

When I try to send an email I get the following message: "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to outgoing server (SMTP) mail.btinternet.com times out. Try again."

I've switched off McAfee firewall and the problem remains. I've also tried Windows 10 in safe mode but to no avail.

I've also noted that I now have a Draft folder as well as a Drafts folder (with an 's'). Is this normal?

Should I reinstall Thundedrbird?

This is the first major problem I've had with Thunderbird in years. Any ideas on how to fix it would be really appreciated.

Many thanks

John

I receive email consisting of firewall logs and they are routed, via Message Filters, into a folder. I would like to programmatically save any/all messages into a folder as a text file. The message can be saved "as is", I'm just looking to get it out of the .eml format into a text format.

What I am asking, appealing, for is a pointer to scripting language/tools. Is the answer in writing my own extension? Does someone already have an extension out there (I could not find anything after a couple scans of Add-Ons, but I do not dismiss the possibility that I am blind)?

Thanks for any guidance provided.

TB: How can I move my filters from one account to another?

I would like to move my 32 filters from one new account to another old account, and there is tantalizingly incomplete information on how to do that in another question/answer at: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1180856.

That answer says to copy the "msgFilterRules.dat" file instead of recreating all the filters individually, and when I look for that file I find it in the Local Folders folder in my default profile. The Local Folders is now being used for archiving messages from both accounts (and was created when there was only the old account), all are part of the same default profile, the only one I am using

So to where would or should I copy the .dat file to? I guess that my understanding of the architecture of TB isn't adequate to understand that placement or anticipate what to do.

When I open Thunderbird, both of my email accounts are shown in the left hand column. And though the names are different and the servers are different, the appearance is so similar that I have, at time, found myself working in the wrong account. I would simply like to separate the accounts so that each has it's own sign on shortcut and each appears in it's own window. Please advise if this is possible, and if so, how it can be done.
