Hi, I’m trying to move from Outlook 2003 to Thunderbird 115.12.2 (64-bit). Using the import wizard fails. Tools > Import select Import From Outlook and the following message appears. “Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client can not fulfil the message request”. I’m taken back to the Import from screen with the addition of a red panel with “No Profile Found” on it. Outlook 2003 is the default e-mail client, checked more than once. I’m trying to migrate to thunderbird so I have no account setting, thinking they would be imported. My pst’s files have been moved to a directory on a different partition to the Outlook programme, tried creating a dummy profile using default Outlook storage and still fails. I’ve looked at converting pst files to mbox, but this doesn’t see to include the account settings. But I could add them manually or I can not import the mbox files or directory structure into Thunderbird. I’ve been messing around trying other things but nothing works. Internet searches, Thunderbird forum searches suggests solutions but all fails and the steps don’t match Thunderbird menu, etc in many cases. I’m stuck. Can anyone give any advice on how to migrate from Outlook 2003 to Thunderbird. Tools, Add-Ins or manual methods, anything just to get me up and running. PS I’ve two pst files, one is the default main Outlook.pst and the second a secondary store I created in the folders of Outlokk called Store.pst, beside the none default storage location everything else is standard for Outlook and Thunderbird.

When I upgraded from MacOS Ventura to MacOS Sonoma, Thunderbird stopped working. Getting it to work the first time required me to use Apple's 2 Step Verification process to create an app-specific password. After the MacOS upgrade, that process was no longer available. Apple switched to 2 Factor Authentication, which is apparently different and incompatible with 2sv. The other websites and applications on my iMac have already switched to 2fa, and I'm not sure I can have both methods active on the same computer (but I've asked, Apple, anyway).

Is there a recent change in Thunderbird that would allow me to use 2fa instead of 2sv to access Thunderbird?

I have many years worth of emails in Thunderbird that I can no longer access. I can see the directory structure, and some of the email lists, but not the content.

Thanks for the help!

I recently updated Thunderbird to 115.3.3. When the update was complete it appears to have split my profile into two and created two of Inbox, Drafts, Sent, and Trash. I use Earthlink which is the name of the POP3 account. Now there are Inbox, Drafts, Sent, and Trash for "Earthlink", and a set for "Local Folders". Junk and Archives are only associated with "Local Folders", and "Outbox" shows up under a "Local Folders" header along with all of the folders I used to organize received messages. When new messages are downloaded they appear in "Inbox / Local Folders". Nothing appears in any of the "Earthlink / ..." folders.

I don't recall exactly what it looked like before but there was only one set of the primary folders, and the local folders I created to organize my inbox. I have attached screenshots of the the folder navigation pane, as well as the odd organization of the "Account Settings" tab. I am admittedly not an expert. Any help is appreciated.

Unable to fix the side by side error, my only option may be to re-install Thunderbird or migrate to Outlook.

My question is whether its feasible to re-install Thunderbird and still preserve my old profile and emails. I haven't done any backups of Thunderbird but do still have all my emails on the server.

Thanks Lance

PS I have tried all the suggested fixes as shown in the following link to the side by side error: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1439559#answer-1659630

I just got this new computer and want to transfer my FireFox bookmarks and history to it. I cannot access my old account because I do not have access to that email anymore, and you require me to get a code sent to that email to log in. That is still on my old computer that was originally running Windows 8, and has been deteriorating ever since Microsoft jammed Windows 10 down it's throat.

I might still be able to export the bookmarks if there is some way to do that.

The best way would be if I could access to that old account without needing to access bonin006@umn.edu my current email is wayne@nano-dyne.com

Please see if there is a way to help me.

Thanks, Wayne Bonin

After downloading an update, the only thing that I can click that works is the Firefox button. Once in Firefox, when I click anything, the window appears for a millisecond and disappears. So I can go nowhere.

I am communicating using my iPhone, not the computer with the problem.

I recently upgraded Thunderbird from v102 to v115. Since installing that upgrade, starting Thunderbird in my email inbox results in the inbox message list window showing a message received days ago at the bottom of the listing. The scrollbar is not all the way at the bottom. I can scroll down to the bottom of the list to see the last message received, but this should not be necessary, and this is a change from the way v112 worked.

If I close Thunderbird with a newsgroup or an inbox subfolder selected, then when I next open Thunderbird and select the inbox the listing goes all the way down to the last received message as it should.

How can I make this behavior the default when starting Thunderbird in the inbox? Thanks!

I have a brand new install of Thunderbird, and I want to import .mbox files that I converted from Outlook .pst files.

I have seen many support articles saying that to import .mbox files, I need to use the "Local Folders" option in the Folders menu on the left hand side of the main page. I have added the ImportExportTools NG plug-in, but I don't see a "Local Folders" option on my main page.

I must be missing a step. I have attached a screen shot.

Thank you for your help.

Microsoft is telling me I need to open a ticket with Thunderbird while I work to address the problem with my microsoft tenet. Basically, I don't seem to be able to get any of the member accounts on my tenet to be able to use thunderbird with their organization email account. Any tips from Thunderbird would be helpful.

I have been able to set up thunderbird for the Admin email for the tenet and it is working.

I just can't seem to get the Microsoft settings right for the other email addresses in the tenet to be able to use any email client other than Outlook.

Thunderbird was not my default email app at POP3 installation, but anyway 900+ emails soon appeared in the Thunderbird inbox after my sign in for Outlook. My working assumption was that no emails would appear in an email app, unless that app was already the default app, which Thunderbird is not. The initial POP3 download is not under user control? Apparently not. But I don't think em-Client did this to me when testing it.

I changed the email server in settings and all my stored emails are gone! Win10, Tbird 115.10.1. How do I get them back? Only one Email acct of three are stored on the server and those get downloaded to a different computer and then removed from the server.

Background: I was wondering why I didn't get any new emails for a few days and apparently GoDaddy migrated servers without telling me. So the settings there were screwed up as a result of a "~" instead of a "-" in the server name which the tech support guy changed. I was eventually able to access emails at my GD acct using their webmail.

But the server name changed so new emails weren't downloading to my computer. I went into Tbird settings and changed the SMTP servers to the new server address and now I don't have ANY of the old emails which I neglected to backup. ALL I did was to change the server address.

Is there a way to change/view/merge the T-bird user folders so I can access the old emails, folder and directory? Thanks, Bob

For a long time I've used Firefox on Linux with multiple instances each with their own profile folder. Today when I try to run these instances with separate profile folders I get the following error:

> Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To use Firefox, you must first close the existing Firefox process, restart your device, or use a different profile.

Profiles are created like this:

firefox --new-instance --createprofile "PROFILENAME ~/.firefox-PROFILENAME"

They are run like this:

firefox --new-instance --profile "~/.firefox-PROFILENAME"

It seems something has broken with the instance isolation as this is now throwing an error. Additionally I run "createprofile" it doesn't seem to actually create the folder.
